Absolutely wonderful experience. The resort is 5-stars, from the rooms, the property, and most importantly the staff. From the moment you pull up and you re greeted by the valet staff, the most amazing experience starts. Try the Bernardus Sauvignon Blanc, eat at Lucia, play some bocce ball, relax at the spa, dip in the adults only jacuzzi, soak in the views. After our first stay, we knew this is where we were getting married, and after finishing the wedding weekend just now, I would highly recommend anyone to enjoy some r&r here.

Bernardus is outstanding. But do not stay in room # 7..room above has hardwood floors -brutal noise.. do not let them give you a bottom room; too pricey and little sleep, if upstairs room is used.

Overall great experience for a weekend away. Nice restaurant, adequate gym, very clean and warm swimming pool, beautiful grounds. They even had cars free to rent. Rooms are beautiful, bed comfortable, easy parking and close to free or discounted wine tasting. We enjoyed the Bernardus Chardonnay that came free with the room, heated bathroom floor, large tub, fireplace, etc. Spa was nice as well. Look forward to returning.

This lodge is fantastic! My new Wife and I spent the first part of our honeymoon here and loved every moment. The spa is wonderful and very relaxing and the rooms and staff are so inviting and kind.

Fantastic hotel in Carmel Valley. It s only 20 min away from the beach in Carmel-by-the-sea. The property is beautifully landscaped. The food is fantastic. Staff and service are world class

The rooms are beautiful and luxurious without sacrificing comfort. Loved the espresso machines in room as well as the seating area outside. The chef's menu at the restaurant was the best meal I have ever had. The staff all over the hotel was conscientious and helpful. I could sit by one of their many fireplaces all over the property for hours. Could you tell I really enjoyed my stay? I did and can't wait to return.

Everything was great except the boom boom boom from the wedding DJ while we were trying to go to sleep. My only other complaint was that the people above us were very loud and stomping around starting around 6am. Because of this, I'd recommend requesting an upstairs unit. Everything else was lovely. The filet at the restaurant was delicious.

An awesome hotel out in Carmel with country side setting with beautiful and peaceful surrounding. Comfortable bed, and spacious room. Come in the spring and enjoyed morning fog and flowers everywhere. Vineyard next door add to the ambiance. It's very quiet and a good place to get way from hustle and bustle of big city.

Understated elegance and luxury. Picturesque Carmel Valley setting, beautiful gardens and grounds, lovely accommodations, outstanding food and wine, helpful professional staff. Special occasions spent at Bernardus are truly memorable.

5 stars all around. Our favorites were the outstanding service from the very friendly staff, the large well designed rooms and bathrooms and the little adults only jacuzzi area. We stayed in what was supposed to be one of the smaller room categories, but it was the size of what would be a junior suite in most hotels. Very nice bathroom with large tub and shower. Bed was very comfortable and everything was super clean. The property is beautiful. Perfect place actually to hold a wedding reception. There are several seating areas with fireplaces to enjoy a glass of wine by the fire and relax. The restaurant was excellent. We had the salmon and the onaga, both of which were very good. We were here for 2 nights, but wished we could have stayed longer.

Was there for a wedding. The grounds were very beautiful, the setting perfect for a wedding. However, the food could've been better. It wasn't bad, just not the kind of food you'd expect for an expensive wedding. Kinda mediocre.

Strolling through the pretty gardens, looking up into the sun-lit hills of Carmel Valley, playing a round of bocce on the large green, going for a dip in one of two spa areas, enjoying a Californian brunch in the cozy yet modern restaurant, and even checking out one of a fleet of impressive Mercedes courtesy cars, this is the good life folks. A weekend (or full week) at Bernardus will leave you relaxed, rejuvenated, and looking forward to visiting again soon.

I chose this place for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We've stayed at Carmel Valley Ranch, Pebble Beach and a few others in Carmel by the Sea but always wanted to check out Bernardus! I'd say this is a solid 4 star hotel but not luxury. Let me try to elaborate: 1. The grounds are gorgeous. Great landscaping, Mediterranean vibe. Also perfect for COVID times because there's so much outdoor space for eating and lounging and walking. 2. Lucia dinner was a highlight for sure. Food was excellent. My husband's filet was the best he's had in years and everything we had was to die for. Our server, Luis, was ultra attentive and topped our glasses off and comped dessert when he heard it was our anniversary. 3. Quiet. Tranquil. Not great: 1. Room decor. We stayed in a luxury croquet room and the location was excellent on the grounds and it was large and had great patios. BUT, it was like 3 different interior designers threw up in the room. Really, pretty hideous vibe when you're paying $700+ nght. 2. Service was just so so. I told them it was our anniversary. they clearly noted it in the notes because when we checked in the wished us happy anniversary and on check out. But, no upgrade, no nice gesture like a champagne when we sat down for our dinner, nothing that made us feel well taken care of. 3. Pool. See above. There was a pool attendant but honestly i wonder if she was told to NOT help any guests because it was almost like she went out of her way. I sat on a lounge chair for 15 minutes trying desperately to make eye contact. (There were 2 other people at the pool). Nothing. Then got up to ask her for a menu. Sat back down, thinking she'd come to get my order. Nothing. She never followed up. I also saw several others have to go to her to ask for anything. All in all, we had a good stay. There were some disappointments, plus I'm picky. I would recommend them but do hope they see this review to work out some kinks.

We had a lovely stay here but the restaurant maitre de wasn't fantastic. She seated us outside because we had a baby (in the winter). The manager ended up comping us for the whole meal. All that said, we had a lovely time.

I DID NOT make the earlier post!!. This is the obtrusive use of Google on the new Android. Absurd!!! This is an excellent venue!! Except for Googlers. Rating is a 10 . I apologize I did not post the one star

So disappointing once again. As locals, we like to engage, share and be treated as if we matter. Non plussed waiters make it a less then inviting experience. Fewer patrons visiting make the already stale environment more antiseptic. :( not what it used to be

Came here for a wedding. The place is gorgeous, Pool area, fire pits around the facilities, a big open area with corn hole, and a mini golf so the kids can play. The good is really good, cocktails are also good. The staff is always charming and nice. If you go in summer time, you have to go their garden and the vineyards in front of the hotel.

This place is great for even a short retreat. Staff is super friendly and professional. Outdoor swimming pool is heated so you can enjoy morning swim even during winter. Views of surrounding mountains are stunning.

I left my spa appointment quite disappointed today. I had booked an 80 minute massage and a 30 minute reflexology. Unfortunately, the masseuse erroneously gave me a 50 minute massage and the reflexology. This was a birthday gift from my friends; I looked forward to this spa day with anticipation it would be a 4-star ecperience. The only compensation for this error was that I had to pay for the 50 minute rather than the 80 minute massage. Well, there is no way they could charge for the 80 minute!!! I am in the hospitality industry myself and know I would have offered some sort of apologetic compensation. My friends and I are local Carmel Valley residents who have frequented Bernardus Spa quite regularly. There are far too many good places on this peninsula to have a spa ecperience. We will be checking some of them out next time.

We made a reservation at the chef's table for our 1 year anniversary. It was INCREDIBLE! The service was top notch. The food was second to none and consisted of ingredients that are both uncommon and fresh. Every course was prepared perfectly and had a wine pairing that enhanced both the food and wine. This was the best meal we've ever had and the most unique dining experience to date. Plan to spend between 3 & 4 hours for this experience.

Room was spacious and comfortable. Heated floors in the bathroom were a nice touch. Loved that all the drinks and snacks in the room we're included. Restuarant was delicious and food was cooked to perfection. Staff was very welcoming and made everything very enjoyable.

Stopped here for our first anniversary trip. Very awesome place. Heated floor in the bathroom are really nice and cozy. The restaurant also offers very tasty food. There s a Land Rover experience school in Carmel Valley, which is one of the only two places in the US and the hotel offers complementary driving of Mercedes. Definitely worth to check out.
