This company either lacks knowledge or is simply taking advantage of those less skilled with computers.
My sister took her laptop here because the screen wasn't working. They told her they would move all her files to an external hard drive for $200 plus the cost of the hard drive. They then promised to have this completed by noon the next day as she had a paper to turn in that was being held hostage by the malfunctioning computer.
At noon the next day, not only was her laptop not ready, no one was at the store or answering phones. Another day and several unanswered emails telling them not to bother later, she finally received a response with a long list of expensive repairs that her laptop needed.
At this point, she called me (a software engineer, by the way) to get my opinion on her issues and their diagnosis. I told her to go retrieve her laptop and simply try connecting it to an external monitor. This solved the screen issue and she's had no problems since.
I hate to see things like this happen to people who may not realize what's going on. Your best solution is to find a friend or friend of friend and discuss your computer issues with them, so as to avoid overpaying for services you may not even need.
