A very rushed and cramped dining experience. My sister booked a reservation for my nieces 7th birthday (5:00pm - 11people). 3 shared invitations and 2 late guest later we were at a total of 14people. Because there were persons late in our party we ended up losing our reservation and have to wait. We sat at around 6:30pm at a cramped table, knees bumping and plates nearly falling off the table. The waiter we had was a pleasant guy. I was on the edge of the table so my vantage point when the chef came to prepare our meal was skewed. I ordered the trio for $41.90 (not worth it) We bought a cake for which we sung happy birthday to my niece. Not too bad right. Well after a couple minutes the manager came and stated there was another group waiting to be seated and hovered around us waiting for the bill to be paid...this was atypical as I have never been asked to hurry up at a restaurant so someone else could sit. Especially when it was only 5 - 10mins post meal. We weren t loitering the place we had just finished eating! I did not enjoy this restaurant and will likely not come back we were cramped at a table too small for the number of guest and rushed to pay and get out. The only acknowledgment I have is for our friendly waiter, Thank you.

Very poor customer service and below par food. Extremely overpriced for the amount of food you get. They rush you out, even if you have a large group and spent a large amount of money. It's like a factory and I won't even recommend it to tourists. Staff could care less about the customers. We had 20 people in our group and no one enjoyed it.

can never go wrong with Benihana. Food is good and its great to go with a big group. typically the person who is cooking your food is entertaining because they do tricks with the food and knives as well.

I just finished a delicious hibachi Christmas meal at this location. Because it was Christmas day, there was an understandable huge crowd. The entire night had been completely booked out by reservations--I HIGHLY recommend calling and making a reservation at least a day in advance because I'm sure this is a popular place to eat hibachi. Our reservation was for 9:45 (we showed up 10 minutes early) though we weren't seated until about 10:15. The hosts were working very hard to get everyone seated as quickly as possible but with large parties showing up late to reservations and multiple groups staying and keeping a table for longer than necessary many of us were seated later than our Christmas reservations. Once we were seated we were quickly served. Both me and my fiance ordered the hibachi chicken with the fried rice (fried rice is an extra $3.90 but SO SO SO worth it). We enjoyed the soup, salad, fried rice, vegetables, shrimp, and our chicken as well as the gentleman making our food. It was a wonderful meal and I certainly would recommend this location for hibachi for anyone who enjoys or has not had hibachi yet.

Service here was terrible tonight. We we're a party of 9 and waited almost 45 minutes after our reservation time to be seated (we were all present) and then I was served the wrong food because my server took the order incorrectly.

Everyone at the table heard me order and told the chef it wasn't what I had ordered as he was serving it to me. But it wasn't his fault, he's just going by what he had on the order. But at these hibachi grills, they give them whatever the food is that they're prepared to cook... It's not like they can just go back and change it or add things. They have a set amount of food and then they move on to the next table. So of course, I ate what he gave me... But it wasn't what I ordered. And I wasn't going to be able to get other food so...

Then the manager wanted to argue with me about it "well, you ate it" yeah... Because your server messed up my order and it couldn't be rectified. LoL I want to pay for what I ACTUALLY ordered. Because you served me something that costs more and couldn't fulfill my actual order... That's not my fault.

In addition, three people in my party had issues with our server actually putting in and fulfilling multiple drink orders.

Also, I was not served the green tea or dessert that was supposed to come with my entree and being that it was my birthday, I am used to Benihanas taking a group photo at the end of the night to commemorate and apparently they no longer do that either.

Highly doubt I will be patronizing this place any longer. Which is a shame because it was my favorite place to come for birthdays and special occasions.

I am only giving two stars because the food is actually really good but service was terrible.

We ate here tonight.... the chef was entertaining in the way he prepared the dishes.. the atmosphere was cozy if you don't mind sitting with other strangers...I had the hibachi salmon with avocado tartar sauce... it was really good...However is difficult to enjoy your food when you're sitting with others who just wants too complain...That's my biggest thing... but overall its a good place to eat

Would give it two zeros but there isn't an option to do so. Arrived on time for 9pm reservation. Wasn't seated till 9:45pm. Bowl of soup served at 10:13 pm...who knows where the "chef" is..45 minutes after arrival and no chef...terrible..never coming here again.

I haven't been to this restaurant yet, and i would like to visit next week, but there seems to be multiple complains about reservations. I would like to know if reservation is mandatory or can i just walk in?

Extremely disappointed by a place that I've heard such great things about in other states. My friend and I were looking for a place to get hibachi since it's been a tradition of ours and she wanted to find a good hibachi place in the city nearby. We didn't book a reservation because we figured we could sit two of us somewhere, so we didn't sit at the hibachi station, but downstairs where they still offer hibachi food. The waitresses were nice, but extremely slow. We got our water, we got our salad and soup, and we waited for 15+ minutes and never saw our waitresses after receiving the items, which we really wanted to ask for a fork to eat our salads with. The soup was by far disappointing, I'm not sure if it was supposed to be miso soup or not, but the broth seemed almost oily. It lacked flavor of most miso soups I've had and tasted like greasy oil to me instead. We then got our plates, which came as a giant disappointment. More than half of our plate was missing when they brought it to the table. There was food covering one half, and then just white plate in the other half, which is I guess where our rice would've gone if they had it. My chicken and her steak were both cold. You can tell it had been cooked a while before they brought it out to us, and never put under heat because I couldn't even get heat pressing my finger into it for a few seconds. And then we had no rice. We were told a grill had broke earlier in the day and they just started making our rice once the food was brought to our table.... The whole essence of eating hibachi grilled food is to have it with rice, and granted our food was already cold, we wanted to still eat it together. But the rice took entirely longer than the time it took to get our entrees out so we were already halfway done with our meat before we pushed our plates aside and waited for the rice to arrive. The meats cold, also lacked Hibachi flavor. The filet, which was asked to be medium well, was rarer than my medium-rare loving self would even bite into. The rice, which did thankfully come warm after a long wait, lacked flavor as well (a little salt may have been fine.) All in all, if you want a warm meal, make sure to sit at the hibachi table, or else this is not the place to spend $40+ a person to eat a poor quality meal. Really wish my experience had gone better.

9:10 However, walk-in's were getting tables before us. Which does not make sense. This place needs to train there host. The food was mediocore. DON'T TRUST THE HYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You better off going ANYWHERE else but here! WORST SERVICE I have received an I live in NYC!!!

Took a special someone on a date and had a great experience. Forgot that you are seated with random people but we had a great time. The chef makes things fun since the food is prepared in front of you. If you haven't been to a beni's you have to stop by asap!

I didn't exactly like the place. But the food was good. Corny jokes by the chef, just not really my thing. Packed dining room like a cafeteria. Sitting at a table with people I don't know leaves possibly unsavory characters dining with you. Not the restaurants fault, but it does contribute to my experience. I'd go back with a larger group.

Echoing what a lot of people have said, the reservation system is god awful. Didn t get seated until well past an hour of our original reservation time. They need to better manage reservations because it defeats the purpose of trying to create plans. Hostesses, while not their fault necessarily, were rude and gave absolutely zero indication as to when we d be seated. Avoid counting on reservation times and plan accordingly.

This place is terrible. Waited over an hour passed our reservation time. The hostess that worked March 11th 2018 night shift was a totally B*tch. I do not think she is capable of smiling or addressing people with manners. The manager that was working that night should be fired. Surely he wouldn't be employed by me. Apparently his customers feedback means nothing. I assume this as he laughed and rolled his eyes at our complaints of not receiving our soft drinks until 40 minutes after being seated. So an elapsed time of 1 hour 40 minutes after our reservation time. What a great way to finish off my honeymoon. We walked to McDonald's on 56th street and they were more professional than this place. Sad.....

My friends and I went here for my 22nd birthday dinner and we loved it. We didn t have to wait long for our reservation and our chef was really funny and hospitable. The food was very good and the drinks were the perfect amount of alcohol. I more than recommend this place

Let me get started with the server absolutely horrible could not take your drink order , not even coming around to refill our drinks, manager had to bring our drinks which I mind you took 30min to get refills. Funny part is when I arrived with a party of 8 for a birthday. I had gave them a ice cream cake to put in freezer. But when it was time to bring the cake out, I was called in the kitchen to show me the cake was melted because they left it out not in the freezer manager said he would reimburse me for the cake and guess what no reimbursement. By far the worst place I had ever been at. The worst staff and management. Funniest part is when the server was bringing my drink wrong. She tells me they dont have anymore. Then why would she bring me a drink. People just stay away if you can.

I went with my girlfriend for a Hibachi dinner and that is what we got. It is definitely not inexpensive by any means, but the food is great, the portions are fair and our Hibachi chef was friendly, fun, and an amazing chef especially with his knife skills. We enjoyed our time even though this is a touristy chain restaurant. I would go back.

Had date night at Benihana last night, very nice atmosphere. The wait staff was on point with taking and bringing our orders, the drinks were nice and my meal was also very tasty. The dinning is communal you dont really have a chose on who you want to sit with unless you come with a big party that will tak up the entire station. Unfortunately we were pair with some unsavoury people which made the dinning experience not that great( which had nothing to do with Benihana). The cook Sudip was very accommodating even when he wasn't being treated with kindness, he did his beat to keep us entertained. Over all nice place to experience at least once in your lifetime.

The food is always amazing, the atmosphere too. I wish the cooks we more enthusiastic as well as the servers, also I think instead of sitting 9 people at each table they should start sitting 8 since there is barely any space. Once again Benihana s has done the best that it can do and I am very pleased.

They renovated this so now the whole restaurant is Benihana. If you came here before you would know downstairs was a different restaurant now its more space upstairs and downstairs. When I feel for some Sake with rice and garlic butter I come here to enjoy some good food and a little cooking entertainment. Only thing as much times I came here I never had a Japanese chef!

Very unfriendly and bad service. We had a reservation at 8pm and waited 25 minutes to be seated. Once we were already sitting one of the hosts made us stand up and said the table was for another group. We waited 15 minutes more and there was no clarity on when we would sit for dinner, everything with very bad manners. We left after 45minutes of arriving without having the chance to eat.

Took my fiance there for her birthday, had been there probably 4 times prior. The service had never been this bad before. The waiter for got to put my fiance appetizer order in. So by the time the app. came out part of dinner was being served. I say part because there were 2 people at our table that had allergies. And that just made it worse. Now we have cold vegetables on our plates, because the chef is preparing the allergy couple food first. So we had to wait for our teriyaki chicken and fried rice, which we thought we was going to eat with the veggies. The appetizer comes out now there's no space for all the dishes. Space is limited on the tables. I feel like I was robbed, after seeing my bill. EXTREMELY disappointed.

OVERRATED!!!! The food was ok. Very little taste. Be prepared to pay for everything that you would think would accompany an entree. Next time, my family and I will go to one of the food carts on the main streets and dine there. At least we will be able to taste the flavors of New York.

The worse restaurant I been. 40 minute wait with reservation. The seats were so close together, I would of have to eat with the plate on my hand. I left. I was not going to pay so much money to be sitting like that.
