I first need to say that the food at this location is amazing. The challenge that makes the restaurant impossible to visit is the fact that their customer service and reservation system is beyond horrible. Sitting down at the time of your reservation is like winning the lottery. After many years of visiting this location, I can not remember a time when I was seated (not served) within 30 minutes of my reservation time. It seems to me that this is a fixable problem in a world where we sent people to the moon 50 YEARS AGO. Sadly, I can no longer enjoy the food and try to ignore the adversarial staff and upset customers.

Recently came here with a party of 8. I had such a great time. Our Chef was personable. The food was amazing. Everything tasted fresh and seasoned to perfection. Our waiter was Gideon. He seemed very knowledgeable on menu options. He was very polite and was very pleasant. He even suggested that we sign up for emails as we would receive special promotions and a free meal on our birthdays. Thanks for the hospitality. It was a great experience. And he made my family s experience one to remember. Thanks for the family photo as well. Nice touch

DON'T DO IT FAM!!!

DON'T DO IT FAM!!!

My friend and I made a reservation for 9 pm. Got there 30 minutes early and were told to go upstairs at 9 pm. That was the only "good part" of this experience. Once upstairs we were bombarded by at least 4 other groups of people waiting to be seated. A server asked us for our name then told us to wait in the corner. He then, at the speed of light, walked past is and 2 other parties and "told" us to follow him. He didn't repeat any names, he didn't look anyone in the eyes, NOTHING!! No one knew what to do. We all assumed we were to follow him and were luckily correct.

We SQUEEZE into the area and are all quiet af because we don't know each other and wait for the server. A different guy comes out with menus, hands everyone one and ask if this is anyone's first time there. One person answer and before anyone could say anything else, the server went to help the person. (This is only important because it was my first time there and the server was shorthanded and distant when I tried to ask for assistance too) He leaves, comes back with water and ask what everyone wants. I wasn't ready so he took everyone's order and then STARES at me until I order something. I find it really weird that this random server took the order and not the person who would be coming but it ain't my job so it ain't my problem!

Another new person, the chef, appeared. He seemed not amused by our table. He said something under his breathe and "began the performance. So, I'm a music teacher. I'm use to loud, unnecessary painful sounds, but the noice at this establishment is TOO MUCH! I was more than happy when it was over.

Each table sits about 9 (which I find weird) but we had 8 people. Throughout the whole dinner each server and the chef seemed completely confused by the empty seat. They placed food there for nooooooo one. The chef also didn't listen to anyone. My friend told the chef multiple times that she only only ordered sushi but he kept giving her food. The chef must have been confused and didn't remember who got what because my friend got another lady's meal. We didn't know this until the end of the meal when the other woman complained about not having everything she ordered. The chef apologized and we paid and gtfo.

The food is basic. Your local Chinese place could give you better for cheaper and with less of a metalic, off beat scrapping, headache creating racket. The seating is trash. I'm a bigger person and saw skinny people having problems with people trying to pass them. The establishment is not well ventilated so smoke fills this place quicker than a hookah bar and barely leaves. There's an elevator right at the front door to take you upstairs (it smells like burning tires though so be careful). That is not a sushi place. Again, THIS IS NOT A SUSHI PLACE!!!!!!!! They have sushi as an option but don't go here thinking you're getting an amazing sushi dinner. This is a performance space for people drunk enough to eat expensive basic chinese food made at the volume of a fork in the garbage disposal by satan screaning at you with 509 crying babies surrounding you like the 9th circle of hell.

You could literally do better anywhere else BUT if you have to go here:

1. Make reservations before hand and get there early
2. Don't order the lemonades unless you want diabetes
3. WATCH YOUR FOOD: if you don't get something you ordered, say something to the chef before he leaves
4. Wear ear plugs!!!!!! Trust me on this. You'll be out of hearing if you don't
5. Order hella water or whatever you're drinking before the server leave CAUSE THEY AIN'T COMING BACK

I'm obviously not going back! It will never be worth it.

So disappointed! I ve been going to Benihana s for years now the food is great! But literately my last four times there have been a disaster! This restaurant has sadly gone down hill and here s why, IT S SO COLD!
This restaurant really needs to invest in a better heating system. It hasn t been an enjoyable experience at all, I was there last night for Valentine s Day and I was freezing, I had two drinks and that did not help! I don t want to go back to this restaurant again! By the time you get all your food on the plate the food is so cold! Not to mention that the staff at the front of the restaurant that are hosting are really disorganized. When I walked in the restaurant yesterday everyone there looked upset, people with reservations were waiting a long time because the restaurant overbooked for the day. I m hoping this is helpful insight to the people responsible of the success of the restaurant!

Well worth the money I paid yesterday. Took three other people there and had to wait about five minutes for a table. All of the staff were really friendly, and the bar is something that cannot be ignored. Prices for the food and drinks were reasonable. We were seated with 3 other people, but they were really friendly. Be prepared to sit with strangers if you have a small group. The chef we got, despite being his first day, performed wonderfully. Shoutout to Axel. (Might've butchered his name, but I'm pretty sure it's spelled like that.) He told the funniest jokes, flipped eggs into his shirt pocket, and made onion volcanoes.
Best of all, however, is that he served us delicious food. I'd definitely go back there.

It is quite touristy especially since it is in midtown. The chef's are great. Very funny while preparing your meal. It is very average, americanized japanese hibachi. Although if you sign up for their emails you get a free meal on your birthday!

I was at the Benihana for dinner with friends. We had the "table" shared with 4 other people.
First the drinks are ordered and you can choose between classic drinks and cocktails (very abundant I must say).
Then we move on to ordering the main dish which can be different for everyone.
Once the orders are finished, in the kitchen they prepare the tray which the chef will then take to cook.
Seeing cooking in front is a lot of fun, the chefs make fun games like the shrimp in the breast pocket or the beating heart of rice.
A hot broth is served first and then the dish is chosen.
I took grilled salmon which is served with rice (or fried or boiled) and vegetables. Very good, very tasty. Average cost for the venue and for the show it offers (around $ 40).
A place definitely worth revisiting

I do appreciate the hardworking of all staffs. But the food is below average. I understand there must be some price in the food price for the excellent performance, but the steak and seafood are not fresh enough. I have to say it is not worth the price if you don't care about the performance and only want good food and good services.

Came here for 3 birthdays. Have an allergy to chicken so asked0 that they use separate utensils or cook mine separately. Ordered edamame. Never came. No apology just a smile. My hibachi came without my double rice. And 10 minutes until it came after asking twice. The meat was not rare as ordered and the plate was small in serving size versus the rest of the table. As it was my wifes birthday and i have a food allergy i expected better handling of the evening. My table mates enjoyed their food thoroughly. But i was majorly disappointed in my personal experience this evening. Great food but let down on my personally prepapred meal and portion size. Leaving hungry

I love going here especially during lunch hours where the food is perfectly priced. Even the kids meals are filled with so much food that unless your kid eats it all, you'll be definitely taking some home to enjoy later on or the next day.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I promised my self I would not return due to the unprofessional management staff. They are ruining this restaurant and are going to lose a lot of money if they continue to act in the manner that they do.
