BeneTrends bases it's business on funding small businesses. It's been around since the early 80's and has over a hundred employees. Overall, it may be a good company. It probably has some great employees.

This one star rating is solely based on the behavior of BeneTrend's founder and chairman, Len Fischer. His actions call into question their company mission "to help visionary entrepreneurs successfully launch their dream". Mr. Fischer has gone to lengths to intentionally damage my company over a $40 wine class.

A few months ago, Len and his wife Cheryl showed up at a Wine 101 class at the Wine School of Philadelphia. They showed up about forty minutes early, but were not on the roster for the class.

They acknowledged they did not have tickets, but insisted that they called someone at the Wine School and they were told they could just come. They also stated that someone emailed them That was when my instructor called me in, very concerned.

You should understand something very important before I continue. We don't have phone lines or direct email contact with our students. We have an online support forum. We cut out phone support many years ago, as we are too small to support it. If someone needs to reschedule a class, we have an online form that automates that process. It's all very quick and easy. However, if someone claims they had a dialog via email or phone... well, we know that isn't true. It's all automated.

When I approached the Fischers, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps they had called the wrong school or something else went wrong. Maybe they were punked by the owner of another wine school (not the first time that has happened).

I went over the possibilities and apologized about situation we were all in. Instead of working with me to find a solution, Mr. Fischer got angry, which turned into threats and insults very quickly.

Keep in mind that Mr. Fischer is a millionaire many times over. And that he is livid over an inexpensive wine class he did not pay for. A class that he and his wife simply showed up to.

Once he left, I researched the problem. It turns out that the Fischers were supposed to have come to another class weeks ago but didn't bother showing up or contacting us. Had they contacted us prior to coming, we could have done something for them.

When they show up to a sold-out class demanding seats, there is little I could do but apologize and offer to look into the situation. How did the founder of BeneTrends exact revenge on a small business owner who didn't give him a free seat? He and his wife wrote nasty online reviews about my company. Really nasty ones.

Bottom line: The founder of a nonprofit company that is supposed to help small businesses should not be so willing to damage the reputation of small business.

Larry Carnell and his team helped us use our own money to invest in ourselves. We have been able to invest in 2 businesses and currently in plans to open 2 more. Benetrends and Larry Carnell have been great. Great way to and team to work with for a great future.

This company used to do their job well but not so much any more. We have been with Benetrends for about 12 years now. At one time the company was much smaller and I believe owned by a different individual. Over the last 6 years or so they have made mistakes on my IRS forms which means I need to amend my income tax for several years, quit keeping my portal up to date with documents, not known how to do things that we are paying them for, took away items that we used to get with our annual fee without telling us and try to dodge questions that they used to would answer. I must say that my current contact for my plan really does try but through the years I have had some really bad contacts who messed my plan up and did not seem to know what he/she was doing. UPDATE 01/23/19 I WAS CONTACTED BY BENETRENDS ADDRESSING MY REVIEW AND I DO APPRECIATE THEIR EFFORTS AND CONCERNS. WE WILL CONTINUE TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.

Larry Carnell was the person I worked with initially to set up my ROBs plan, Benetrends is a leader in the industry for a reason. They are very responsive (answering you nights and weekends if need be), have very good customer service, and they're extremely knowledgeable about a complex transaction process.

I was a Benetrends Rainmaker customer for a couple of years. I found the startup fee and monthly fee to be high when I look at the actual work performed by the Company but I didn't know any better at the time. On top of these fees there is an exit fee you have to pay when you wish to stop. The reality is that they get you to do most of the work of reporting, they put the information you provide into some automated forms and you pay and pay a lot for this service. There are other cheaper ways to create a ROB plan. I suggest you look around and explore these options before you get locked into this expensive service. I wish I never used Benetrends.

Without the able assistance of Benetrends, I would still be on an airplane everyday and spending 200 nights away from home each year.

Benetrends guided me through a process to take part of my qualified plan money and leverage it through lending to acquire a business and its real estate. 5 years later, my initial plan investment has produced 4 times its value in income and the value of the business has doubled and the real estate is worth 50% more than I paid for it.

Benetrends does everything to make sure my paperwork is up to date and lets me know what options I have going forward. They are always professional and helpful. Without their help I could have been in a very bad place. Now I have the freedom to travel for leisure, don't worry about my income and am growing my equity everyday.

Larry has been amazing to deal with. I was not real happy with my prior plan manger who has been managing my plan in a unique situation (money in IRA, but has not funded a business because the deal fell through) and they had been of little to no assistance to me. Since engaging with Larry I have found there are better options and customer focused approaches in this space. I cant say enough about how happy I am to have been introduced and switched to working with Benetrends.

I worked with Benetrend for a 401K rollover and an SBA loan package. Overall the rollover was taken care with very little problem. However working with Benetrend to out together the SBA loan package have been less than satisfactory. The team I am working with did not review the loan package and submitted the paperwork to banks as it was and as a result I am being asked a lot of questions by different banks that should have been taken care of by the Benetrend team. I feel like I have wasted over a month of my life relying on Benetrend and now it looks like I am going to have to go out on my own and look for a bank that can work with me on an SBA loan. In summary, Benetrend did a good job on the 401k rollover (Rainmaker program) but I would definitely not recommend Benetrend to assist with an SBA Loan. Horrible communication and feedback from the Benetrend team.

An amazing organization to work with hands down the best. My experience was beyond my expectation. They are they most knowledgeable, caring and supportive group of people. This was a big step for me and they basically held my hand the entire way and made me for at ease. Thank you Benetrends for being amazing.
