The service was great. The wait took about 40 minutes for our food to come out. I ordered the Portobello mushroom burger with fries and I really loved it. The atmosphere was pretty moderate. I would come back during lunch and/or dinner hour.

This is one of the best places to relax, relatively good selection of drinks and their food is great, friendly staff, fantastic service and experience overall. The only downside is its right inside downtown Huntsville so parking may be a bit of a pickle but not really much of an issue.

Love this place. Reserved the side room for my husband's birthday & we had our own waiter, who did a wonderful job waiting on 30 people. Food is always on point & beer selection is outstanding.

Looking for a dive bar atmosphere with upscale flare? Head over to Below the Radar. We went there in search of late night food and we found that they offer soooo much more. Definitely make the trip downtown and enjoy. Oh and they serve beer too.

BTR is a phenomenal spot in downtown Huntsville. The staff is friendly, and the manager is an amazing guy who knows us by name. Our huskies have always been welcomed on their patio with water bowls and an occasional piece of bacon. Also, $0.99 mimosas for brunch. Seriously what else are you going to find 99 cent mimosas?? Also, their spicy queso and sesame ginger wings are on point.

Anyway, do yourself a favor and come here.

Our first day in Huntsville was delightful topped off with a visit to the local eatery and brew pub, Below the Radar Brewhouse. I don't know how "below the radar" it is, as the place was packed on a Tuesday night in July. As people who travel quite frequently for work we often visit the local breweries to try local craft beer and food. Boy, did this place deliver. They had wonderful selection of 32 draft taps with craft beers from from Alabama to Germany. They even had 5 house made crafts that would delight any lover of craft beer. The food albeit bar food in nature, had an upscale feel. The coffee crusted strip was delicious and the fish and chips was on the money. You will not regret visiting this hidden gem in Huntsville. And I doubt it will remain "Below the Radar".

Hit up BTR because my usual haunt was unfortunately closed today. Got a burger and had to wait about 25-30 minutes (normally wouldn't mind but I was on my lunch break).

Wait was worth it though, damn good burger with hands-down the best fries in Huntsville. They taste like they cut it the moment I ordered it. Probably why it took so long.

Damn good food. Definitely worth checking out.

Amazing service and the food is to die for! Actually in town for 2 days, and had dinner at this fabulous place both nights. The chef is amazing and the choices in beer were refreshing. What a great little find in Huntsville, AL!

Glad we gave it a try. I was worried about the negative reviews but we had a great meal. We went early in the evening before the live band started. If the band had been playing we would have walked out the door. This place is way too small for a live band. I tried a beer flight with all local brews and enjoyed it. The lamb chops were delicious but not a generous portion. Service was fast and friendly. Would return as long as no band is playing.

Normally we've had pretty experiences here, but the last visit wasn't as good. There was a hair in my food (salad) that I found about halfway through eating it. It definitely wasn't mine, as it was short and thick (my husband said it looked like a beard hair ). I did not eat the remaining half of my salad and we told the server and she didn't say anything about it. Then, we didn't see the server for quite a while and we needed our check because we had somewhere to be...we finally got the check, with no discount or apology for the hair...really nothing. Oh well, it was one bad experience in a few good ones. We may try again...we'll see.

Originally we weren t going to go here but the place we wanted to go to was closed. I m glad though. The food here was fantastic! The soda was crisp and refreshing. I got shrimp and grits for the very first time (the waiter recommended it as his favorite) I was not disappointed. The flavor was incredible. Perfect amount of seasoning and Cajun flavor. Shrimp was perfect and the peppers served with it were delicious too. If you ve never had shrimp and grits. This is the place to try it. We will definitely be back. My wife got a onion rings with her meal. They are battered and were very good. The horseradish sauce they come with is really good too. The right amount of flavor and kick pairs well with the savory onion rings.

UPDATE: visited BTR again with some friends to catch up, hang out, and have some drinks. Unfortunately, our second visit was nowhere near as good as our first. Our waitress seemed extremely distracted and disinterested. We had to flag her down more than once, and she seemed annoyed when we said we wanted to place an order for food. The mac and cheese balls were delicious again, but my BTR bird was overcooked (both the chicken and the bacon), and my friend's burger was just...bleh. Overcooked, and absolutely smothered in goat cheese - way too much. Both of our fries were cold and soggy. The music trivia was fun and the free scotch tasting was nice, but I can't say for sure that I'll return, when the food and drinks were so expensive but so disappointing.

This place has a great selection of beers on tap and in bottle from all over Alabama and abroad. Their food is very good too and has a southern flair for comfort. Stop by frequently as their beer selection rotates and don't forget to check out the live music scene!

After researching several local menus I picked Below the Radar based on their chicken burrito. It was so bland it was almost inedible. I requested extra queso hoping it would help and that was tasteless also. I ended up salting all my food just to get the taste of salt at least. By far the worst burrito I've had. I'm only ranking the high three stars because I haven't tried any other items here, but I'm not eager to return after first experience. Bartender acted annoyed everytime I spoke to him and was unfriendly entire dinner.

I am absolutely NEVER coming here again. I have never had such a TERRIBLE experience at a restaurant. Right when we sat down our server was exceptionally rude and kept yelling at us for no reason. She then was rude when taking our orders and was never attentive. She made us want to leave immediately. Then the food was cold, drinks were always empty, and our server constantly ridiculed us. Then at the end she added a 20% tip herself because apparently it is at the server s discretion. I am never coming to Below The Radar again and I will make sure everyone I know doesn t come to eat at this place either because it was the absolutely worse experience in my life.

Staff is friendly and the food tastes good, but is super overpriced. Arrive about 7pm and it was seat yourself, so we did but it took quite a while for a server to come to the table. When we finally got a server and ordered it took over 10 minutes to just get our drinks and the restaurant was maybe 1/4 full at best. Beer brewed in house is alright, not the best and not the worst. We all got flights and were told they were a flat $5 that day, but when the check came all the flights had a $1 up-charge that we weren't told about when we ordered. $1 isn't much but the principal of the server not telling us there was an up-charge before we order is a very poor business practice. We didn't ask or fight it because we just wanted to leave. The cheese balls are so-so tasting, they were actually pretty bland, Craft Mac & Cheese tastes better and at over $1 per item they definitely aren't worth it. The wings are ok but again, at over $1 per super tiny wing they aren't worth it either (6 for $6.99). Got the onion rings too, and you guessed it - over $1 per item (actually $1.40/item). The onion rings are $7 for 5 rings and they tasted the best of what we order but are just too expensive.

When I first walked in, the atmosphere was very divey but clean and methodical. The bartender was quick to greet me and take our order.

They have a great selection of beer, local, and some brewed in house. They also have a full liquor bar and food menu.

My wife and I only had appetizers (Mac n Cheese Bites) but they were cooked well and tasted excellent.

Overall I consider this an excellent bar worth visiting.

Music trivia night was disruptive to my experience personally. The beer selection was fantastic and I enjoyed trying their brews. Normally not a slaw person but I enjoyed the poblano slaw on the Dixie burger.

Excellent food is the only reason I'm giving stars bc our waiter was so busy cleaning up his section that he forgot our friend's entree sitting in the window. We ended up having to go up to him and ask for it bc he never came back to check on us. By that time his bun was super hard and the rest wasnt fresh. They had to remake it.

We went there for Farther's Day. The food was very good. They have more than traditional bar foods like burgers and sandwiches. I had the glazed pork chop and it was excellent. Also had a weissen bier on draft which was very good. Service was equally awesome. Manager and waiter were super friendly. Prices were reasonable. I would go there again.

I go to this place often because I love the beer options and atmosphere, but the service is not always the greatest. I've heard this from others as well, which is unfortunate because it really is a cool place. I called to place a to-go order the day after Christmas and the girl was rude and said, "We are really busy so it may take a while." When I asked her how long her "a while" was, she put me on hold for 2-3 minutes, comes back and says, "An hour." It was 2:30 in the afternoon! I was curious and walked by to see simply because I was in the area, and it honestly wasn't any busier than I had ever seen before. Should not take an hour for one to-go charcuterie board. Doesn't even require cooking! Just frustrating when service is the one thing that makes you hesitant about going to a restaurant/bar.

First beer (a sour), was good and would bite like it should every drink. Asked for another and it wasn't the same beer. My girlfriend was drinking the same and agreed it was different. So I was either served a different beer or their quality control needs some work. Server said it was probably from a different part of the keg....never heard of such a thing.
Food was good, service was good until after the food was served. Never saw the server again after that. Had to go find someone else to get the check. Was told he was busy on the other side, but the place was nearly empty when we walked out.

The fish and chips were tremendous. I had not expected to get so much food. But it was absolutely delicious. We could have split the meal! And when I'm craving true fish and chips again, I will definitely think of below the radar immediately. I'm so glad my friend suggested that I try them!

Excellent pub atmosphere with a wide variety of beers on draft including a good amount of local craft beers. They also have their own brewery on premises. The food selection ranges from fantastic bar food with a twist to some of the best steaks in Huntsville.
