The pastry and coffee are wonderful. The biggest issue is the service. Three different times now I have been greeted then virtually ignored for several minutes while the individuals behind the counter are doing other things, but when another individual comes in they immediately jump to assist that person standing in line behind me. I've never encountered anything like it, but one of my colleagues has experienced the same. The service standards here need to addressed. If the individuals are busy, then greet and let the customer know it will be just a few moments. To ignore people and then pretend as if they are not waiting for assistance is ridiculous.

Convenient location below the Fairmont Olympic, just off the corner of 4th and Seneca. Their coffee is excellent- I come here when I want a treat, and Starbucks isn't cutting it. I'd say their prices are a little steep for coffee, and a lot steep for pastries that really aren't anything special. Customer service is usually fine- nothing particularly memorable. I appreciate having them downtown!

Expensive, and the customer service is good but not great. You do get what you pay for, quality-wise, and paying more here is generally worth it. As for the service, affordable, good customer servixe-oriented help is a hard thing to come by in wildly unequal, financially-lopsided Seattle these days. Having said all that, if you buy the right things here, they are divine. There are a few weaker links amongst their pastry & cakes, to be sure, but plenty of items here are as good as you'll find in any city. My last gateau Breton was sublime perfection but my pain au raisin (not sure if that's what they call it here but, essentially, that's what it was) was an underwhelming use of ~$3.80 Still, mostly yum yum yum!

We live close by and come here often. I really like the food here usually a easy 5 star TODAY I had a terrible experience.

We were just about to pay and I changed my mind on getting a breakfast sandwich. Since there were people at the sandwich case (COVID social distancing), I asked what are the sandwiches.

I had to ask three times. She stood there in silence and then finally told me. I didn t think much of it I paid. I tipped. And then she says You are welcome .

THEN she proceeded to warmly welcome and chit chat with the couple after me.

Could we just take a moment and check our unconscious bias here? What s with the attitude?!

Love this Belle Epicurean Bakery & Catering. Great latte, delicious sandwiches and fresh breads. I've tried the sourdough, white, blueberry scones, croissants (cornettos) and baguettes - all really good.

There is seating available, not a lot, but cab seat at least 15-20 and some more outside on a nice day.

The staff experience has been mixed - mostly good, sometimes not.

Latte is just right for my taste. I've tried a couple of sandwiches including the tofu one and it was delicious.

Most delicious brioche sweet buns and marcarons in Seattle! Their new location is not as cute, but much easier to get to and spacious- totally worth going out of your way for a treat. Oh and the dessert are all top notch!

I was looking for a medium size restaurant with a good variety. Once I got into the place, I felt disappointed. But the coffee was outstanding and the sandwich and croissant we ordered were delicious, to say the least. It was a very good experience!

I used to like this place very much but not any more ...They charge $15 for a plate of spring mix and less than a tablespoons of chicken salad! ... I don't get disappointed soon, but I already tried their salads for more than 5-6 times and everytime told my self that might have been a mistake! ... anyway I won't order their salad lunch option any more which is just a small plate of spring mix with a flavour of your chosen salad!

I don t know why I bother. Their croissants have the consistency of wet paper. Looks really good in the display but that s about. Don t be deceived!

In Response to the Owner, Yes it was Belle Epicurean on 4th Ave and Madison. I have tried the croissant, twice baked almond croissant, apricot croissant, pumpkin spice, and chocolate pistachio. They all had a wet paper like consistency. I've tried many times to like this place but it's just not that good.

Their ham and cheese croissant and sandwiches are some of the best breakfast options in this area of downtown.

Their new location in the 4th and Madison building is inviting and beautifully done, and the partitioned area to watch the bakers is a nice touch.

I hate to say it, but I feel like this place has gone downhill every since it's changed location (not sure if that also included a change of management?) Sure, the space is much larger and modern, but what use to easily be a 5-star establishment I find just mediocre now. I've seen some new faces since the move and I feel like they are not very friendly or as skilled in their craft. My lattes are now consistently under-filled and overly foamed. The espresso is strong but are now overly sweetened. One of the reasons I used to love this place is that their lattes were consistent and not TOO sweet. Their pastries are still very good and on point. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt but if the trends continue, I will unfortunately need to find a new morning coffee joint.

Pastry was delicious, but I missed my bus because I was served out of order, and the cappuccino I got in exchange was not worth it. It was so dry it might as well have had a merengue on top, and so over-extracted I might as well have gone to Starbucks. Sad because I was excited to have a decent coffee shop near my bus stop.

Love the new location. It has a great cafe vibe with lots of light and a good amount of seating. I've only tried coffee and macarons - the coffee seemed average and the macarons were great.

Had the Mac and cheese breakfast, crossaint, and coffee. Mac and cheese and egg was very heavy for breakfast and felt sick after few bites. The crossaint and the coffee was just average. The price is extremely high for just avg coffee and food.

Enjoyable experience... quaint Seattle French bakery. Food was tasty but hope you are not real hungry. Coffee was very good. Display case almost empty, not alot of choice, a little strange but over all good experience. I would give them another shot.

Great coffee and beautiful bakery items - they are like works of art! We met the owner and it s clear that she takes pride in her work. Her colleague was friendly and helpful too. Yum!

Have to agree with other review - coffee undrinkable. Cafe au lait was worse than instant airplane decaf and the egg in my breakfast sandwich was so overcooked the yolk was green! Ugh. Cute location & atmosphere across from Starbucks. Hint hint

Probably the best french bakery and cafe that I tried in Seattle. All of the different items that I have tried have are amazingly well done. The space it super bright and clean. There is a large selection of goods from cake, to pastry to sandwiches. There is also wine and beer and a happy hour. The macaroons at 2 bucks a piece are an amazing deal.

Ordered a breakfast sandwich. It was great and I ate the whole thing, only to discover after that there was a hair in the box it came in. None of the baristas wear hair nets here. They refunded my order but I'm still pretty disgusted.

Disappointed. Not expecting a real French experience, just fresh, decent, simple food and a strong espresso. But I'm sorry I shelled out 10$ for a sandwich (croque monsieur) that was burnt when first cooked and then reheated in a microwave in the time it took me to walk to a table and settle in.
The place was empty so why not reheat in an oven while I drink my cappuccino? --- which was a little weak but tasted better than it looked at least.
Someone spent a lot of dough on the decor and probably the rent. What about the actual food? Simple menu badly executed. Why?
And may I add, personal taste admitted, mediocre trance and techno might seem an odd choice for a French pastry place. Just saying.
Thanks.
