I had such a bad experience here that I may leave Apple for good. I own almost the entire apple product line: MacBook Pro Retina, Iphone 5, iPod Shuffle, iPad, and AppleTV. I went in to get my iPhone 5 checked because the battery has been dying at high percentage levels (between 35-55%). I set a genius appointment to see what was wrong. I purchased apple care with the phone directly from apple. After 2 hours the rep came back and told me they would not replace the phone because it had been tampered with - that someone went in to replace parts. Umm...what!? If I paid in advance for extended care from the manufacturer, why would I pay some joe blow on the street even more money to fix my phone? I've never taken any of my Apple products to any place other than Apple. I asked what was tampered with? What was replaced and they said there was a screw in there that they don't use. What?! My phone has never been opened or touched by anyone. I showed them original receipts and everything. The store rep said there was nothing they could do and walked away before I was done discussing the issue. I honestly feel like this is a scam. I saw numerous accounts of this happening online - all with the same scripted response. And they all had nearly the same internal issues. There is a serious quality control issue that Apple needs to fix. Anyway, the staff (not all of them, but a few) were rude in handling the complaint. I LOVED Apple, and would have considered myself one of their brand champions, but this experience shook me to the core. Just terrible.
