Brought my students and there was a very limited amount of animals.
Definitely 5 stars, recommend to everyone. Parking easy to figure out, professional photos at the entrance. Awesome face paint and spray on tattoos that my son was obsessed with. Tons of animals, tons of cool things to do. Great place.
I love taking my family to Beardsley zoo. We love looking at the animals. We appreciate how well the animals are taken care of and Its just one of our favorite places to go.
If you level set your expectations this is an ok zoo. Yes it's small and not a lot of animals but just the right size for little kids. It's built in a circle and easy to navigate. It's claim to fame now is 2 new tiger cubs born here, that's the big draw.
I have to say I loved this place much more than The New York Central Zoo plus a variety of animals
Great place for the whole family to explore and enjoy!
Great Place to Bring the kids. THEY HAVE A large Carousel. lots of Animals to see.
We love the Beardsley Zoo go at least twice a year to visit.
Good place to visit but the entrance fees are very high for the amount of animals you can see and how small it is. Excessively expensive
My family and I love it here!!! The Zoo Membership is worth it!!!
Baby tigers were the best! Soooo cute! Also the rainforest! Everything was adorable in there! Including the ocelot!
Real small zoo. Took just couple of hours to cover the entire zoo. Not a lot of interesting attractions. The camel ride that others were talking about, did not exist. Might have been seasonal. Well maintained though. Worth for one time visit.
Animals looked healthy and well cared for...they were often right up against the cage walls so you could get a good look. Docents at several cages were friendly and informative. Not all animals, displays were open but we saw a tiger, leopard, wolves, monkeys, birds, chickens, gators. Spent about an hour. Social distancing reminders everwhere...and it was easy to keep yr distance. I would recommend.
Always an adventure! Every time we go we see different animals and learn new things! We love it here!
Not much to see and then the baby Leopard Cubs we went to see were not out in their habitat, they were sleeping . Not worth the admissions fee
I go every year it's a great day trip. It also offers I wonderful park like setting. Bring the kids and a picnic basket for a wonderful family day!
Tiny monkeys!! A lot of fuzzy animals, and happy kids. I loved it.
It's a fun place for the family, great for little kids to het exposure to different animals.
We enjoy this zoo. I haven't been to larger zoos for comparison.
It's a fun little zoo, and a great place to kill some time with your kids. If you love local the season pass is worth the money. As it was somewhat rainy the place was fairly empty, which was a plus. There is a decent variety of animals, and the zoo is clean. We were disappointed that the souvenir shop had closed early. The kids really enjoyed the carousel ride. Overall it was worth the trip.
It's kind of small and kind of expensive compared to the zoos I'm used to in Texas and Oklahoma. But that's true of a lot of things in New England.
Fun and educational. A great place to go on a family outing.
Is the best thing to do to take your kids and to have fun
I visited the zoo twice this summer with my mom. We both had a great time viewing the animals. Our favorite without a doubt are the leopards. I'm amazed by the story of the the two Cubs. All three are such beautiful animals. The city of Bridgeport may have little to offer visitors and residents but Beardsley zoo in my book is a great attraction. The staff is very knowledgeable about the animals and will take their time to answer any questions you may have. If ever in the area you should visit it's great family fun.
Fun! It's a small zoo but there are many animals of all types. Also, they seem very well taken care of and happy. The food was a little flavorless but everything else was awesome!
Great hour walk, with well maintained animal exhibits
Let me be clear. I dislike Zoos. I have 4 kids ages 7, 4, 2, and 2 months. My wife has been on me to take the family to a Zoo and I finally relented when my Uncle wanted to spend time with the family at Beardsley.
It was a nice enough day outside, but hot in the sun. There was plenty of shade from the trees and quite a few viewing areas were air conditioned. Even though we visited in the afternoon, we were able to see every animal even if some were sleeping through the afternoon heat. After making it around the zoo, we arrived in time to watch a Show before leaving.
Beardsley was the perfect zoo for my family. It is small enough that we made our rounds before the kids were tired and cranky. It had quite a few visitors, but not a crowd so large that I couldn't let my kids run ahead to the next exhibit and lose eyesight of them. I can see where older kids may want to see more/different animals, but this was just right for us.
I didn't actually go. I drove past it and now it wants me to write and post a review.
It's a small zoo you can get through in 2 to 3 hours. But it's packed with cool animals and very knowledgeable staff. There was some construction going on while we were there, they were getting ready to move the red pandas to a bigger exhibit and were adding 3 more new animals.
Love this zoo , been going since I was a child and now I enjoy taking my kids. The zoo has come a long way in recent years . It's the perfect size for smaller ones who don't want to walk all day long . We loved our recent trip and the new addition of the red pandas and sloth
Children friendly, you can't bring strollers in the rain forest exhibit.
Nice little zoo. Manageable size for a visit with little kids. The carousel is a gem and indoors if you need to get out of the sun or warm up. I do wish some animals like the big cats had nicer enclosures.
We had a great time. Really clean and friendly zoo. One of the best zoos we have ever been to!
Almost all patrons respected the mask rules. We were able to see most of the animals. The lack of contact was impressive. I will definitely be frequenting this zoo this summer.
Great place to take the kiddos for the summer! Quite educational and fun.
Great place to bring the kids.. not so big that you get tired out before you finish (like the bronx zoo). Always fun... we love the carousel
It has a few animals, definitely not the Bronx zoo buts it's a good place to take your little ones.
Nice place to walk around and see wild animals and its just around the corner
It s a decent sized zoo for Connecticut. However it needs better upkeep. The enclosures for the alligator, and the monkeys? When you walk into the rainforest building, you re OVERWHELMED by a horrible smell. Today I took my children and it just smelled like old water and garbage in there. It really made me feel bad for the animals that were stuck in there to have to deal with that. The water inside of the pond-like strictures probably isn t filtered well? It s just still sitting water that s collecting germs and debris. Also while there is plenty of signage to explain the animals you re seeing it would be super awesome if there could be some staff doing shows with some of the animals. The animals could probably use the attention, and it would be more for your money. It s not a bad zoo but there s room for improvement. Plug your nose when walking into the rainforest building!
A lot of exhibits are closed and you still paid full price smh
Great place to learn about animals and spend time with family
nice SMALL zoo. worth about 45 minutes to an hour. not really worth the price. but fine for an hour.
Drove 2 hrs to visit this cute little zoo! Absolutely loved it! Defiantly worth the drive
No guides, had to look for things ourselves, a little confusing for our group
Great zoo with many amazing animals to see! The kids loved it! Very affordable.
The only zoo in Connecticut is one of my favorite places to visit.
Staff very friendly and well informed. Love to go and take pictures of the animals. Very relaxing.
Great adventure for entire family. My children loved the caged animals and took pictures with the free peacocks
A site not very extensive but it is well equipped with parking
Great Zoo my son loves it. I took him there when he was little.
This is a great p,a e to take the little ones or just spend a couple of hours away from the noise of the city. Don t go to early, as many animals are still eating inside or sleeping. 11am is prime time for animal watching.
Not too much to do. Maybe went too close to season change. Also, the gift shop was full of dirty merchandise that they really shouldn't be selling.
A little difficult to find some of the animals. It feels like we saw more pictures of animals than actual animals. But our grandson was with and he enjoyed it quite a bit.
Zoo is great for kids. Cheap tickets. Its right inside the park. You can take a walk, swim, or go to the playgrounds afterwards. Places to eat all around the area or picnic in the park.
A good place to visit and relax watching exotic animals and spend a nice day with the family
Kids Love it
Great educational programs
Easy walk with a lot of places to stop and sit in the shade.
VERY AFFORDABLE
This was a relaxing place for me on Sundays. The wolf exhibit was special and the staff are very friendly and informed. I took many photos in the greenhouses while in was raining.
