Well kept zoo with interesting exhibits. Would have left five stars but the service from the zoo staff was less than cordial. We were greeted at the main gate by a young man who was short with us after asking if military discounts were available and we had trouble finding a member of the staff that could answer questions regarding the Eastern Hellbender exhibit with any definitive information. However, the young adults that were staffing the animal exhibits were very friendly and knowledgeable. May just be a training issue for senior staff.

Okay

The CT Zoo is a great little place for a day trip. It is small enough to have small children walk and not be zombies at the end of the day. Next time we come we will be sure we bring our own food to snack on.

Not that the cafe food is bad.... just really slow. We spent over an hour because they were so backed up. An hour is big when the zoo closes at 4. Better yet, go get an early lunch before you come. have a great time here the get dinner after you leave.

The zoo is like a giant park with animals. It is the best summer walk you will find.

Love it

This is a small well-kept zoo with animals to see right when you walk in! There is plenty to do for kids. I felt that this zoo had a lot of photo-opts! The staff was cordial and volunteers hold onto objects that enhance your experience. My friend and iI took about 3 hours to experience the whole park and saw everything. The Peacock Cafe has a good selection of food items although i do not usually prefer to buy food. Typical attraction prices. This was a cute day trip.

A very nice little zoo. Great to walk around, and you can see the whole thing in one visit. There is a restaurant for lunch foods, and smaller places for snacks that are open seasonally.

Nice place for family to spend time at, many activities, nice picnic area, OK variety of animals considering it's a relatively small zoo, staff very friendly and try their best to keep place tidy

Just went to this zoo today. It was in the 90 s and the whole time we went through the zoo we did not see one employee tending or checking on a single animal. The only workers we saw were standing outside of the cafe. And near the rainforest. We were there for 2 hours. There was a deer that was panting with its tongue hanging out. It got up and you could see allll it s ribs. It was struggling to even walk to the water area. The fox were laying in a red wooden hut trying to get away from sun but were still right in it. There was not a single thing in their exhibit with water. All the enclosures are so small. The farm life area was being re-renovated and you could see all the animals laying on wooden steps which looked like a porch and they were damn near on top of each other. No ones heart is in this zoo at all. These animals need to be free

Not a huge zoo, but perfect for a fun day without feeling dead on your feet. They focus on specific areas of the world for their animals, and are part of a program to help reintroduce species back into the wild to save the species. Because of that they have some very rare animals.

It's clean, had some shade, toys an if a great place! We were part of a tour lead by Jim and Pete. Theyv had lots of facts and answers. Always had time for questions and were patient with the kids. It was a wonderful experience.

It's not what you'd typically think a zoo is, but it's because they focus on helping animals. All of their predatory birds there are injured in a way they would die in the wild, so it becomes more of a sanctuary for them. Great zoo, great staff, and a great experience!

Great local zoo. It isn't very large but it makes for a fun day with kids. The food prices were very reasonable compared to most zoos and or aquariums. In addition to the good selection of animals they have done botanical exhibits.

This is a great zoo if you need a fun, family activity that won't take up your whole day. I would suggest getting there early, as it fills up quick with huge groups that make it less enjoyable. So, get there when it opens and get in before the crowds. Maybe I am just used to going to larger zoos, but a lot of the animal enclosures only had one or two creatures. Not that I expect them to be pact full but when you bring your child over to see the one loan alligator or the one loan eagle, or the one loan wolf. Ha, maybe the rest were just sleeping. Anyways, easy to get too and the price is just right. It's about an hour or two at the most for the whole park.

It was a good visit, the zoo is small, but nice for something to do in this Crazy Covid-19 pandemic. Since it is small, and outdoors people kept their distance. My kids loved the tiger by the cafe, she was playing in the water and seemed to be happy and active, the goats were quiet so I told my toddler the goats say baaa.... and the goats all started baaing at me! It was hilarious! They also have very playful prairie dogs that seemed to be doing tricks and wrestling.

Check out the beautiful hand made necklaces and bracelets made by The Wired Hour at the Trading Post. Beardsley takes care of their animals well and alot of the creatures are rescues. One of my favorite greehouses with a beautiful coy pond and many breathtaking specimens.
