Great for young kids. I've seen some improvement in the enclosures over the last few years. Seems like all the big cats have a bit more room than they used to, which is good. We are excited for the bears to come when we visit again next summer.

Only zoo in Connecticut!?! Yes, and though it s small it s lovingly cared for and full of surprises. We love the garden area for picnics, the elephant splash area, the greenhouse and the petting zoo area to name very few.

I love this zoo. It is not the biggest zoo but they are always putting on fun events for the children. In addition, they have a great little playground, carousel, a small simple cafeteria (often crowded), green house, gardens, gift shop and more. Their animals consist of wolves, tigers, bison, an array of birds, reptiles, and more. They offer birthday parties, venue rentals, and educational trips/programs with different packages to order from. I've been there for different reasons, and it is always a pleasure.

Went as a party venue, the event was terrific. Beautiful grounds, excellent catering, carousel room was lovely, patio and 'bandstand' area was nice - super fun to have the peacock wandering around!'

Definitely in need of some updating and maintenance. Some of the cages do seem a little small for the animals but all the animals seemed to be in good health. A little pricey for the size of the zoo and number of animals (multiple exhibits only had 1 animal in them). They do seem to be working to make a better zoo with multiple future exhibits coming soon. Overall I think it's just a zoo in need of some community support. With some support it can provide a better visiting experience and better exhibits for the animals.

Certainly a must if you live in the area. Not even for just the zoo but for the open fields just to be out of the house is nice too. Staff don't look so pleased to be working. Maybe it's just the weather. Anyways. Great exhibits. Fun amenities. They got what you need for a family day out

We went with our 3 year old son. Sometime back we visited southwick zoo in MA. I previously heard that this zoo is small. I also checked some of the exibits and it looked like that it is almost equal to the size of the southwick zoo. It is actually bigger than that. But by nimber of species and collection it is very very small. People who have nowhere to go they can visit this place and see two siberian tiger. Thats it. Its not worth for kids who are learning fast.

Great zoo with lots to see and do. Lots of interesting animals to see and an activity center for kids. Cafe has good food at good prices and even has gluten free options. The volunteers are available to share lots of interesting facts and the zoo is committed to the care of it's animals.

Great family outing and adventures to be had. Staff was great with answering questions. The staff floated around the zoo and always seemed to be readily available for answering questions. Fun activities for the kids and interesting learning.

One of my favorite places to take kids. Plenty of zoo volunteers to answer their questions. Exhibits make an real effort to provide natural home for the animals. Animal conservation and rehabilitation are important to the zoo.

The walk around the zoo is a lovely mix of sun and shade and offers great views of the resident animals. There are also a wide variety of interactive activities to keep my toddler entertained. The man who runs/performs in the musical show is excellent and my very active 2 year old watched and sang along for over 30 minutes.

This was a nice way to spend a couple of hours. The only really impressive animal was the tiger (missing elephants, lions, giraffe's etc) but the farm exhibit and rainforest was fantastic.

This was the first time I have ever been in the Beardsley zoo and it was just a wonderful day and I love all of the animals that they have there the zoo keepers are very well trained with the animal that they are attending to the animals are so incredibly loving to the guests that are looking at them..... they have so many different types of Foxes and Wolf's leopards tigers and the have a great big bald eagle he was so beautiful and they have this Condor and his wingspan was just so incredibly beautiful they have prairie dogs and the kids loved that because they can go under this tunel and pop their heads through these holes in the ground and act like they are a prairie dog and get closer to the prairie dogs and the kids are protected by a tube around their heads it's a fun thing that the kids can do they have a carousel that you can ride and they have a place to go get something to eat and they have a nice gift shop over all this is a great idea and I will definitely be going back to there again so take a day off for fun with your family or friends your going to have a great time and it will be worth it to take your family out for a day of fun

We've had a membership here for several years. The keepers are excellent at talking to the patrons to answer questions whenever they are walking by. And the management is constantly looking at how they can grow to continue to support both the AZA's mission as well as the needs of the local community.

Staff are knowledgeable, I will give them that. However... the enclosures are SO SMALL. The big cats just pace around or pant nonstop. It's sad to watch. Also, can finish the whole park in an hour if you wanted to... not really worth the high admission price.
