Definitely not covid safe.

Definitely not covid safe.

First of all, I paid for premium parking($20) online, but once I arrived all the lots were full and the staff was telling us to take the shuttle. Does not make sense at all, if you re going to sell parking tickets everybody should have a reserved spot, super upset about this.

After that whole situation we got into the resort and for a second, I forgot we were in a pandemic because there were hundreds of people with literally no one six feet apart. Because the tickets were limited, I assumed it would be less crowded but wow was I wrong. I come to bear mountain every year but this was the worst it s ever been. I did not feel safe and do
not recommend coming especially on the weekend.

The trails were fairly well maintained considering lack of snow recently. But some things aren't great:
- Really expensive compared to Colorado and other states. Even parking is not free!
- Locker room is outside of the ski area so it's a 5 min walk to get to your lockers to get your shoes.
- this mountain is really more for people who jump and do tricks, and not really skiers. There's obstacles everywhere!
- lack of racks for equipment so people just dump their equipment on the snow areas by tables.
- extremely popular and need to book tickets and rentals at last a week in advance for weekends
- their method of crowd control on lifts is non sensical. They let an entire line through for random number of people instead of letting first group of each line go one at a time. And they forget which line they let go sometimes.

I do like their covid response as you're 5 mins in and out of rental areas as they help you put boots on. And they organize rental lines with sms messages so people wait outside.

But I don't think I'll be coming back as there are better options else where that isn't crowded.

The staff are always extremely nice and incredibly helpful in order for their guests to have a great experience. The runs are always fun but in my opinion they need to be stricter on people being reckless on the runs.

Great place to visit but, the hotels add on extra "fees" when you actually check in. They tried to charge an extra $190.00 to change rooms because our rooms weren't available even though we booked online. Bear and summit offer a "military discount", but only for active duty. I guess the retirees, disabled, and other veterans dont matter. Thanks, much appreciated.

Probably the best ski resort for socal. Don't come expecting anything amazing since it is still socal. They do have a couple express lifts at both resorts. Night skiing available at their snow summit location

Went on New Years Day. First time skiing, took lessons. Alain was my instructor and was great. He explained things clearly and had a good sense of humor. There are many different paths to take from beginner to expert. There are also food options (I brought by own so I cannot review) and even an outdoor bar (you can bring drinks inside). All in all, a great place to spend the day. Will definitely be coming back.

The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The food was great, had a burger and some fries which were both very good. The mountain wasn't too crowded and had a great time snowboarding even though there are not a lot of lifts.

do we weren't there for the snowfall of 2019 the kids had a wonderful time at their first time ski class the resort staff are friendly and it has a small town feel that big bear is known for and the proximity to LA is key.

Took my kids to ski lessons and we missed a big chunk of them because of the rental line. I arrived an hr early like they said on the phone, but it was not enough. Also they kept letting people jump ahead in line with their buddies. Killed the experience for me

Visited during off-season but the resort was charging peak-season/holiday prices. Limited amount of runs charged at full prices. Snow was man-made and a bit underwhelming due to the park staff not wanting to groom any of the park features. You can clearly overhear the workers complaining about how they dislike their job. Granted, I pushed past these short comings and was able to enjoy the visit only because of their bar.

The worst skiing ever. Rip-off - nothing else.

The worst skiing ever. Rip-off - nothing else.
Do not make reservations - those have no meaning with new owner - just opportunity to lose money.
We had reservation for ski lift and equipment rental 3 months in advance - but (granted in holiday season) it doesn't mean you get equipment - 2.5h waiting in lines and no equipment (regardless of reservation) - rip-off.

Without reservation the only thin you risk is that you do mot lose your money.

Amazing resort. Lots of acreage, steeps, tree runs and world class park. Good grub with a large outdoor bar (indoor too). Nature has been neglecting our slow for some years, but when they get it then you better get there. My one gripe is they havent yet updated the gate with scanners like other resorts. See you on the slopes!

Big Bear was always the Big Bear in the ski slopes...

Big Bear was always the Big Bear in the ski slopes out here. But on my most recent visit, even after the biggest storm they've seen in years, I think I may try Snow Summit. At least for a skier. It seemed like every run at Big Bear was more catered towards terrain park elements for snowboarders. So skiing was more about dodging those on a fairly steep quick run, than enjoying a lengthy run through the wilderness.

Great place to come to during the week for snowboarding. The lifts are empty and slopes are perfect. During the weekends it could get crowded and parking is hectic. But planning a trip is best during the week to get great parking and good hours of practice. My wife and I prefer to bring our own lunches in a ice chest and have lunch in the car, mostly because the items available to purchase at the snack bar are limited. My wife and I have our own equipment but the mini store has been reliable with glove when my wife forgot her's.

Bear Mountain Ski Resort is a fun place to go when they actually have good snow. The snow fall for this resort is very little. During the winter months there is only really four or five really good days. The weekends up here are usually really super crowed combined with high ticket prices and the little amount of snow, makes it not worth coming up to Big Bear Mountain.
