Went up snowboarding at bear and as usual a great time. Great job blowing snow for the weather that we've had. Good to know there's gonna be open trails and good times awaiting right in the San Bernardino mountains regardless of the annual snow fall

Love it :) As a newbie to snowboarding, it has everything I need. There is an amazing friendly atmosphere. The nearby town of Big Bear is also really quaint and has plenty of options to grab good food, or bear themed memorabilia. Big fan.
This place is great on the weekdays, but gets a little crowded on major holidays. HINT - book a stay close to the resort and go up on weekdays you will almost see zero lift lines.
Quality mountain. Fantastic parking setup that gets you close to the lifts. Half day tickets are kinda pricey, and getting up and down to the mountain is a bit taxing on your vehicle.
I went up to Big Bear to check out the snow conditions. There were plenty of snowboarders and skiers at Bear Mountain. It looked like they were having a great time!
I don't understand why this mount is so expensive for left tickets. Other than that it's a pretty solid place to spend the day. UPDATE: 3 stars now from 5 because they seem to have the worst phone customer service of any mountain in CA
This resort had great snow making machines and the snow was really smooth. Employees were nice and helpful with lifts. Rental employees were nice as well. Although it can be pricy at some parts of the day such as food and buying extra accessories.
My husband chris worked there in 81 to 84, say's the year's they really had snow. he was a groomer slash summer worker. we came back and has said it's night and day, good job joe shieff
Great snow, great features ... but TOO CROWDED! By 11AM, the lift lines were so long we just gave up and went home! Also, they always wait too long to open the half pipe. Give the half pipe higher priority!
It snowed while we were there. So the slopes were nice and not icy. Good for the area. Lots of people tho so if you're afraid of hitting other ppl cuz you're a noob like me, it leads to A LOT of falling lol
Been here a couple of times and I can't wait to come back here again to go snowboarding. The views from the top are amazing along with the refreshing mountain air.
Way overpriced guys.. 90+ dollars for a single day lift ticket on a crowded mountain where you gotta wait in long lines for the bathroom and have no where to sit when you eat. Also food is meh. 22 bux for a Burger, fries and drink. You guys have some work to do! With how much your charging I'd expect a better facility.
So far the best resort in Southern California. Trials are well maintained. There are enough trails to entertain all type of and . Like they have so many lifts which let you have fun without having to wait in long lines. This is for me better than snow summit. Prices are a little bit higher than mountain high and snow valley, but I think is worth it.
Hands down the best SoCal ski resort (when there's proper snow coverage). Great for beginners, novices, intermediate, and advanced riders. You can snowboard/ski in the morning then surf in the afternoon!!
This is no Mammoth mountain but this is better than any other SoCal resorts unless you prefer super short runs and having to switch to different mountains (a la Mt. High) then this isn't for you.
Check out the IKON pass as well which gives a better deal than the existing season pass.
Went to big bear on St Paddy's day. Conditions were much better than expected. Runs were well groomed and not too icy. Had a good bloody Mary and BBQ at lunch. Wasn't too crowded either.
If you are into snow boarding or skiing, you should check this place. You can rent your equipment, learn how to ski or snowboard or buy passes. During summer you can take the lift, appreciate the view of Mt. Gorgonio and hike or bike going down. A good way to enjoy the mountain whether during winter or summer time.
My first time snowboarding. $99/day/person. Parking was easy in the middle of the week before Xmas. Had one of the best bloody mary's by the bar at the end of the day. Great experience.
This is the closest place to snowboard from where I live and we always have a good time here - aside from a rude parking attendant (everyone has bad days, I guess), this was a great trip. I'll definitely be back.
Not much of a place to hang out and play with little ones. Crowded. Skis and snowboards everywhere. Walkway cluttered. People standing and sitting around drinking Beer.
Ok, it definitely better than the other ski resorts with a couple of hours, no doubt about that. There are a few runs that are ok when the snow is good, Geronimo for example. But of all the ski resorts I have visited in the US and Canada, this is the worst in terms of so many things. First of all, getting there is a battle, then getting through Big Bear village was 55min today.Parking and shuttle, is a nightmare. I know the resort is close to Big Bear village, but they need to invest money into this, instead of just pulling money out of it. Some of the people working there are really nice, mostly the more mature ones. Some of the younger ones really shouldn't deal with customers. The ticket booth situation is a joke. 35min to get a ticket? Something is broken! And $105 for a half day ticket? I didn't even get angry, I started laughing because it such a joke. Most younger lift operators were either total newbies who never put people on a lift before or just didn't care about their jobs. 100s of people waiting and they put 1 or 2 people on a 4 seater? But most annoying of all, the other guests. I realize that everyone has to learn at some point, I'm fine with that, I was there once too. But snowboarders were sitting everywhere, and it almost becomes an obstacle course getting down. Plenty of people smoking weed and drinking beers on the lifts, then falling all over the place afterwards. The company who owns Mammoth, owns Big Bear, why not just make it work the same. They are like night and day. I hate myself for wasting time going to Big Bear every single time I go there, should have gone to Mammoth instead
BEGINNERS CLASS: it is something you can teach yourself, very basic, and barely going ti help on the easiest trail.
2 hr long: 30 min to teach you about the gear and how to put it on, 30 min on how to walk and move around in snow (walking and rotating in place), 30 min on how to "wedge/pizza", and about 30 min on how to "kind of" turn.
The ski trails are nice had some variety. Each trail got progressively harder so good for learning. It snowed that day so the trail was powery
