This place is heaven for me. Classic titles from Nineties that are finds and stupid expensive anywhere else. Entire sections for Blu Ray fans, silver screen: cowboys and war
films. If you can't find it staff will be more than willing to help, or order it for you. Endless TV, American, English, HBO, AMC. Cheap rental options also. Always a happy customer.

Bay Street Video is one of the last full service DVD sales and rental locations. Knowledgeable staff can assist locating a hard to find item or recommend additional titles in your area of interest.

Best video store in Toronto. They have an amazing catalogue of Blu-ray's to purchase from. Many of which cannot be purchased in Canada and were only released in the U.S. Pricing point is the same or better than amazon which is really amazing considering this is an old school brick and mortar store. Thanks for existing!

Huge selection of DVD and Blu-ray movies for rental and purchase. If they don't have it in stock, they can special order a movie for you if you are willing to wait a week or so for it to get there. Super friendly staff and very helpful too. A good place to shop for your DVD or Blu-Ray collection.

Up to date new release section of Blu Rays and DVDs, friendly staff. Love the rent for free program which changes themes every month, great opportunity to see movies you normally might not come across! Netflix doesn't have everything yet!

So many video rental stores have closed over the last 20 years. I discovered Bay Street Video less than a year ago and they have a vast collection (organized by directors, genres, labels, etc.). It feels a bit 1990s in there but they have a strong collection of classic films in blu-rays which I love. I think Bay Street Video and the Toronto Public Library are now the main resources for DVDs!

Just rediscovered the pleasure of what a real movie catalogue looks like. Friendly staff, feels like they have everything you would ever want to watch and much, much more. The staff recommendations are a great starting point if you don t know for sure what you want.

Thankfully, I live walking distance to this amazing store. They have everything. A vast collection of film noir, and everything criterion puts out, on Blu-ray too! As well as all the current and popular blockbusters, a huge collection of foreign films, tv etc.

The prices are really great, think its about $3 for 5 days, and they often have free discs available.

All in all well worth the visit as you can find pretty well anything you can imagine at a fair price and really a lovely group of people running it. Have to support these independents!

Great selection of all genres on blu ray/dvd to rent or buy. Consistently stocks new (and back catalogue) releases from boutique labels like Arrow, Scream Factory, Criterion (biggest selection in the city), etc. Helpful and friendly staff! Highly, highly recommended!

I walked past their door a thousand times before I looked in. They have no facade, but are hidden away in a tiny mall, across the street from Manulife. On a hunch, I looked inside, and, to my amazement, found 22 thousand DVDs on swiveling shelves.
The stock is arranged in about a dozen categories, which will take time to explore. If you love movies, as I do, you will quickly find something to interest you. If you're looking for a particular title, you can check the online catalogue, or ask the helpful (and knowledgeable) staff. If it's on DVD, it will almost certainly be there.
The swivel-racks hold the DVD cases, and below the case is an octagonal button held by Velcro. Take that to the counter, and they will retrieve the disc. (The only flaw in their system is that you cannot get the case, with descriptive data, which remains on its swivel. A compensating bonus is that the discs are IMMACULATELY CLEAN.)
If you like DVDs, this is the place for you.

Great, knowledgeable and resourceful staff. The selection of items for sale is quite impressive with several hard-to-get anywhere else releases from Arrow, Criterion and Kino. Visit yourself to see.

Really the only place left that has every home video title you can think of, whether it's a new release or remastered old time classic (both DVD and Bluray). Staff knows everything there is to know. Prices for purchase are not cheap but the alternative is not cheap either (paying with US$ through online shopping). Better selection than any big box stores. They also rent movies.

This place has one of the biggest collections of movies I've ever seen. There's a helpful "New Releases" section at the front, but the real fun is in scouring thousands of films in the store's cavernous depths. They have lots to rent and buy, as well as rotating free titles. The staff is super friendly and excited to talk about movies in any capacity. Also, the dot matrix printer, lamination machine, and plethora of old tube TVs and monitors is a refreshingly un-hipster use of retro technology. Think "small-town Video 99 in the late 90s" with a way more expansive collection.

Helpful well informed staff. Somewhat like a library resource center as well as a retail lending video store. Some videos in bins for sale in front of cash. Recent arrivals for rent or sale. I believe most of what they have are for sale.

I have lived near by BSV for five years now and I finally got around to checking it out recently. I love this place. Enormous selection of BluRays and DVDs for rent or purchase. I have found several titles to rent that are tough to find elsewhere. To top it all off they have a large selection of free rentals curated by NOW magazine's Norm Wilner. I couldn't ask for a better local video store. I will be back often.

Thank god this place exists

Thank god this place exists
They have a brilliant collection and almost as brilliant staff. And it illuminates the endless wondering online deciding which one to watch when you have Netflix and other streaming services .you have to go to the store (yes you venture off the couch it involves basic level human to human social skills) physical look at and choose the movie that you what to watch and then TA DA you rent it and now dedicated to watch it. Dedicated time frame to get it done they also have an amazing collection of criterion movies that are free to rent I know crazy

The fact that places like Bay Street Video still exist gives me so much happiness. My family and I have been patrons of Bay Street Video for 20 years. The location is perfect and central, only a 2 minute walk from Bay station. All of the staff are so helpful and knowledgable about film and television and will go out of their way to help you find the title you are looking for. They also have literally EVERY film or television show season you could think of, organized clearly, and lots for sale too. I love the vintage movie posters around the store, the free movies they have for rent, and the staff cork-board where each employee ranks their favourite new releases. In the era of Netflix and Hulu, Crave TV and Rogers on Demand, Bay Street Video is from a different time - a time we should all go back to, and still can by supporting this Toronto gem. Thank you!

Really hot ginger guy flirted with me last time I was there and I think about how I would've jumped at the chance all the time if I wasn't taken because my body... my bodyyyyy was telling me yes. Embarassingly I don't think I could go back as a single woman because I ended up renting Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo. Best video store in the city, these guys know their stuff.

This place is an institution. It opens the doors to discovering cinema in a way that the Internet still cannot.

Massive selection of rare, independent, historical and obscure films. Particularly valuable is their collection of Criterion Blu-Rays, which are too expensive to buy owing to their laborious production, but very reasonable to rent.

Their prices are so worth it and most films are available to buy. Tonight, skip Netflix and head to Bay Street Video.
