A friend and I attended one of the Rock'n'Roll improv nights earlier this year. It was a reasonable value for $10, but I expected quite a bit more laughs. Oddly, most of the evening's laugh-out-loud moments stemmed from audience involvement. From a purely improv standpoint, I'd give the evening a B or B-, but from a humor, pure-comedy standpoint, I'd rate it a C. Too much time was spent on the wacky, rather than making the everyday humorous. Additionally, the entire evening seemed completely disconnected from current topical events (in politics, entertainment, sports, etc.). Maybe they were just trying too hard to be inoffensive?

I've really liked BATs in the past, but unfortunately, their most recent New Year's Eve show was uninspired, lacked energy, and was dull - not things you want for an Improv show. Hopefully they will be back on top soon.

Great location for improv at Fort mason. Im glad to see the buildings there be put to good use. Its been a long time since Ive done any improv and was very excited to get involved. The instructor Anthony was awesome. Words cannot describe how awesome this guy is. He got the entire group involved in games to get us into the mood. Box beating with like 20-25 people was crazy and super fun. At one point I could not stop laughing and keep up the rhythm. I also met a lot of new people that live in the city.

Went to the opening night of the Imrpov Fest with Google Local Experts. I didn't know what to expect because I don't remember ever seeing improv before. There were two acts, the first was two guys, the second was three woman and one guy. They were both great! The tension and energy flowed up and down and they worked their timing to create really interesting situations. They connected the moments and situations throughout the night and wrapped up each bit pretty well. It made me really want to take some improv classes and get involved!

After years of threatening to take an improv class, I finally bit the bullet and dragged a friend of mine with me to a six week course earlier this year. It was one of the better purchases/investments I've made. I had such a great time on the first day that I told a friend that I wished I could just do improv all day everyday, and I wasn't kidding. Ben Johnson, our instructor, as lively, engaging, and informative. Seriously, if you're thinking about doing this, do it.

If you're a relative newbie to improv, come to a Friday night Theatersports show; it makes a pleasant date location to followup with drinks in the neighborhood. The longform imrov us usually on Saturday, which is less my cup of tea, but can be great if that's what you're into.

great place to break out of your zone of comfort and learn improv -- I dare you. But think layered look if your are walking to the muni or hanging out outside to be ready for that wind chill. Afterwards, you can practice your improv in the Marina Safeway!

I watched to Shakespeare's Unknown Canon show and was very disappointed. There was barely any improv. The group asked for a few suggestions from the audience in the very beginning, and barely used any throughout the show. 90% of the show looked completely scripted and most of the jokes fell very flat.

Improv is amazing! break out of your shell..go with the flow..and create your own show!! The staff and guide (coach) were extremely friendly and helpful. Be sure to dress warm with layers. And try not to get lost inside the crazy old converted building.

"LaLaLand, BATS' romcom musical improv show, was one of the most intelligent and hilarious creations I've experienced in my life. I've been around improv for years, and never laughed so much, not even watching Whose Line. Go to this show before it closes."

Came to a show here a few months back at the recommendation of a friend and i was at first pretty surprised at the ticket price $30 or $40, regardless, I was happy to pay since i was expecting a descent show. I was again surprised at how amateur the performance was. I understand its Improv and they're thinking on their feet but needless to say I will not be coming back.
