Great view on San Francisco when not foggy. You will need to pay for parking and come early because spaces are limited. Wide range of exhibits and fun for kids but can be sparse because there are only a few exhibits in each room. Only complaint was that some of the exhibits need cleaning because they can look a little worn. Check in early to participate in the hands on activities downstairs because they all close early before lunch.

Staff are amazing hence the stars & the planatarium guide is quite nice & knowledgable! Not for adults though. Probably local hang out for kids. The area around is beautiful but you don't need a ticket for that. Planetarium gives interactive but basic shows & the noise from outside gets in. Also u need to pay for the admission to the supposed hall 16 dollars in order to watch the planetarium show for dollars.

Great.

Good for kids, bad for adults since it doesn't provide any good exposition of what Lawrence did and the meaning of this place. Expensive for what they give and lack of proper information. A waste of time and money.

I was expecting a little more, or maybe a bit more organisation. The exhibits were small and cool, but it left me wondering if I missed any. I think a map would be helpful. We were able to see the museum in 1 hour. Parking is $1 per hour so not bad at all. The view though, best part! The animal discovery room comes second.

Really beautiful space at the top of Berkeley Hills, with sweeping view of the city and beyond. The museum itself has a lot to offer. We came here for the spelling bee so we didn't get to see much.

Interesting Science museum. I remember the cyclotron exhibit the best. Learned how helium and other gases are made. Has great view of San Francisco. Driving up the mountain you also get a great view of the Hayward fault.

I have an 11 year old grandson and two 6 year old granddaughters (cousins). When they come to visit me, this is their first choice--all 3 of them--for a place to visit. They actually prefer it to the Exploratorium in San Francisco--I think because it is so much more informal and hands on. At the Exploratorium, the technology brings the exploration to you. At LHS, you bring the exploration to the technology. And you don't have to worry as much about ways in which you might (or your grandkid might) damage something. Best kid-sitter in Berkeley.

Great for family excursions and something to do. I would recommend 2 to 6 as the best ages, but so interesting up to 10 year olds. After that, it is still good to go to, but the older child may finish it all in 30 min.

This place makes everyone feel like a kid. You will be amazed my the sheer size of Lawrence Hall. The exhibits are engaging and it is a great place on a rainy day. They also run fun camps for afterschool, in the summer and school holidays. Check out the gift shop really fun science kits to take home. My daughter and always enjoyed this wonderful place.

Best place for kids to learn new things and also planetarium show was good. You can take your own lunch for picnic or you can use cafeteria. Great view if Bay Area. Staff is very friendly. Lawrence Hall of Science sits atop the hills of Berkley at the UC Berkely campus. Close by is the Japanese garden and Tilden park (also a parental bookmark!) Over the summer they host many summer day camps. There are new hands on exhibits, live animals, friendly staff and even a baby play area. We often come and bring a picnic lunch.

A great hands-on place to learn all about science. I came here many times as a kid. Some of the stuff seemed a bit on the 'grown-up' side when you're a kid but I was learning all along. There used to be experiments you could do with mazes and live mice which were always fun. The whole place has improved greatly over the years and is a great place for kids now. And go scale the whale when you're done!

Fun

This place is awesome. To start, you're high on a hill and the view of the bay is spectacular, especially at sunset where it's really mind blowing. The various exhibits on display are usually really cool and lots of times they have interactive displays setup so everyone is very engaged including the kids.

Great place to go. Definitely a must for watching a sunset on a clear night!

The display is small and it costs extra to watch their 3d movie. The way they present science is dry. I was expecting Exploratorium level but it was not even close. We went in for half an hour and left out of boredom. My kids are 2 and 4. Maybe older kids would enjoy it more but really there is not much to do except various wind tunnels. The location is beautiful though. This is just my honest opinion.

Have been coming here since I was a child. It's comforting that certain things don't change like Pheena the whale. It also manages to stay fresh with new exibits. While I usually hate 3D movies, their National Geographic theater is awesome! Well with the $4 extra.

We liked our visit, however the ingenuity rooms and animal discovery rooms were closed to the public, due to day camps. The other areas open had lots of camp children with staff that were not supervising the children. 2 kids under an exhibit, etc.

Offers wonderful interactive exhibits to stimulate all ages. Well staffed with docents who assist with learning. The site also offers an outdoor exhibit area with world class panormic views of the bay and it's cities. Reasonably priced.

Wonderful place to take kids Incredible views of the Bay Area. I've been here countless times and taken my kids there as well. Lots of stuff for kids to do and for adults too. Open science for kids and adults, Excellent planetarium shows. Birthday workshops are very good.

Great place for making memories while learning about science.

We come here a lot, either early after opening or an hour before closing when it's not so crowded. It is a very nice kids science museum, not as big as the Exploratorium but also less touristic. It has some quirks, like the awesome water play installation outside, but then kids are not allowed to step into the water. The food could be better. Little things like that. But then again the funding is tight and everyone involved does an amazing job to make everything work, especially the students from Cal explaining things to the kids, helping with the hands on exhibitions. They also come to the local schools and hold little science fairs, contributing in great ways to education. If your donation budget has still room, consider LHS. And don't miss the Dino bones in the basement.

Beautiful views of the Bay, especially at sunrise/sunset. Haven't been inside but the roof features a massive artificial whale, fountain, molecule, and gorgeous views. Parking nearby and sometimes deer or turkeys too. Cool place to hang out and see far and wide :)

Wonderful hands on educational exhibits which appeal to both children and adults. Movie in intimate planetarium. Some of the young staff members could be more involved with the attendees.
