Review of BATS Improv

A friend and I attended one of the Rock'n'Roll improv nights earlier this year. It was a reasonable value for $10, but I expected quite a bit more laughs. Oddly, most of the evening's laugh-out-loud moments stemmed from audience involvement. From a purely improv standpoint, I'd give the evening a B or B-, but from a humor, pure-comedy standpoint, I'd rate it a C. Too much time was spent on the wacky, rather than making the everyday humorous. Additionally, the entire evening seemed completely disconnected from current topical events (in politics, entertainment, sports, etc.). Maybe they were just trying too hard to be inoffensive?
