My wife and I are extremely happy with the services we received from Basement Systems. The Foreman, Miguel Baez, was extremely respectable and worked really hard to complete the job in a timely fashion despite the technical difficulties they faced throughout the course of the job. Miguel made sure I was aware of every step and snag they ran into during the job. After some initial issues with this company, I was very impressed with how my situation was dealt with. Pete the owner stepped and and worked with me one on one to solve the problem. He kept reaching out to make sure all was going well. And again when it was finished. I appreciate them helping solve my annoying basement issue. I also loved the concern they showed for the customer.

Sean and his crew arrived at the house and went right to work on our foundation crack. They also installed a back up battery to our sub pump. As part of the project a trench was to be installed outside the basement door. After digging through the concrete they ran into some complications. Sean made several suggestions to the problem and we installed a 2nd sub pump. He did not have a sub pump with him, however Dave brought one from the Elkton office. The crew were friendly and polite, also did a fantastic job with the work scheduled and the clean up. I would recommend them to my friends.

Tina, the Production Manager, does a great job of proactively communicating, and the crew does a good job of communicating as well their time of arrival. I usually like to be present when work is going on, but wasn't able to in this case. However, I was happy to see each time I went down, progress, and that it was being done well. Would gladly recommend them to others.

Before Basement Systems I had two crawl spaces that were wet and moldy and a full basement with high humidity. These conditions were paramount to an unhealthy environment. After calling in Basement Systems, the above conditions were remedied in a short time with professional courtesy. The supervisor (Devon) kept us informed as to progress and always left the site clean. Communication was excellent. Even the crew members were courteous and friendly. We ended up with mold free crawl spaces that were encapsulated and dry. A new dry basement system gave us a sense of security. We were so pleased with the project, we called Basement Systems back to replace our basement windows and window wells. Great job. Great company.

We just completed a full refinish of an approx 700 sq foot basement in a circa 1925 home with Basement Systems USA, including addition of a new full bathroom, and we are very pleased with the result. It turned out even better than we expected. Esteban was our on-site project foreman and he did a great job, not only in the work itself, but also in how he communicated every day about the schedule and what work was coming next. Esteban's crew was top notch, and I was glad to see the same guys every day on the job. They did a great job of cleaning up the work site each day too, which was nice because we liked to come down and peek at the progress every day. Esteban and the Basement Systems USA project manager (Dave) were very good at keeping us informed on progress, inspections and in working through the issues that we found along the way where our "design" came face-to-face with reality. Basement Systems was also very fair in working out adjustments to the contract, where some of our "upgrade" requests were additional cost, while others were included/substituted within the original contract. Most of all, the final product - walls, floors, bathroom, ceilings, insulation, sound proofing, custom shelving, etc. look and feel like professional and strong materials that we are comfortable living in. This company was great to work with from start to finish.
As a former Navy Seal I recommend this clean space to anyone who is afraid of freezing pipes and keeping your house much warmer even during freezing weather outside. I have no more bugs or rodents, and the mold is totally gone. Best thing I ever did to this 68 year old house. --Dan Cerigioni

I guess that comes with experience but not necessarily possessed by all trades folks. I had a great experience working with Basement Systems USA. These guys were very professional, hardworking, and clean. They told me exactly what I needed to do and I was glad I went with their suggestions. I always had leak issues and occasionally my old sump pump wouldn t even work. I can truly forget about it now even in the worst of storms. In fact, that happened the following weekend after they left! A big storm came through and we even lost power for a couple of hours. The backup battery they installed let the sump pump keep working perfectly. Talk about just in time!
Elliot came out and got to the source of my water problems. In the past I ve had water proofing quotes that never suggested a fix to my issues just a rushed solution. I do plan on moving forward with the job because it s very affordable and a clear cut plan!
We recently had Basement Systems USA install a sump pump and basement air system in order to help prevent moisture and mold in the basement of our new home in Glen Arm, MD. I have an allergy to mold and a 2-year old (and one on the way!), so getting these things taken care of was extremely important. They did an incredible job! I had basement systems usa replace a failing egress and add a second sump pit to my basement. Chris was my foreman. During the entire process he kept me updated with their progress. He and his crew all seemed like they took pride in their work and made sure it was done correctly and as neatly as possible. I was very pleased with the end result. After they left I didn t find one piece of trash inside or out. If your having basement issues go with these guys don t hire a general contractor or a I know a guy that can do it cheap. They ll do it right the first time and they ll stand by their work.

TL,DR: We wish we'd never met them. Our story is one of being over-sold on several products that solved one problem, created others, then solved those by creating more problems. When it's all said and done, the cost of trenching out the side of the house to fix the drain tile would have been as expensive as all of the costs of the Basement Systems solution(s) and the multiple re-builds combined.
Our saga began in Fall 2017 when we decided to do something about a minor leak in our basement wall which had previously been patched over with typical basement sealing paint/epoxy. Basement Systems sold us on getting an interior french drain installed along that wall and another wall to the low point in the basement for a new sump pump and sanidry dehumidifier (which failed within a year). We also had a discharge line for the new sump pump ran and a battery backup, which was nothing more than a $1000 expense for a boat battery and simple in-line charger. They completed the work rapidly -- well within their own deadlines. As for the discharge line, that was a different problem.
We pointed out that the sump pump discharge was not level or downhill and that it should not simply end in the middle of our back yard. They came back to make it level, and we also pointed out that the elbow nearest the house leaked every time it discharged (constantly), making the porch it ran along constantly damp...right next to the house. Basement Systems ensured us this was fine since the water wouldn't run from the new pool its creating in the yard, back into the house (no way it could, since the drain pipe has their "Frost Guard" in it). So, we re-finished the basement and crossed our fingers.
We went into March 2018 and immediately had actual flooding in the basement, not just a slight leak that we started with in the fall of 2017. This time from not just the previous installation but also the other side and through the floor, where we discovered a previous owner had taped over a drain (how this was never a problem before must have something to do with now trying to pump water around the house rather than using a drain tile to guide it farther underneath). We called to get that fixed and after a significant amount of arguing, especially about the sump pump drain pool, Basement Systems agreed to fix that entire side of the previous installation at no additional cost but again assured us the sump pump discharge is "correct" (as if any home owner would agree with that). They actually suggested that if we wanted to extend the line, they would do so at no cost as long as they could lay the pipe on the back yard (I kid you not). And at the same time, we had them install the french drain around the rest of the basement walls. This work they also completed quickly. We decided this time to not rebuild our finished basement so we could observe if we were indeed fixed this time.
Spring and summer of 2018 come with a tremendous mosquito problem caused specifically by the sump pump discharge area (right off our deck), which indeed became a pool that in heavy rain would overflow back towards the house, as we predicted. We also still had persistently damp areas inside anywhere they installed a screw into the concrete without also applying a sealing gel (some they did, some they didn't).
Around this same time, Basement Systems calls to see if we're satisfied.
Obviously, we're not, so we had them come out to inspect the situation. They remedied the screws, and stated they would come back to apply a sealant to the leaking sump discharge elbow as well as provide us a quote for running the discharge line all the way to the fence line, which is an easement specifically used for such things.
We never heard from Basement Systems again.
We've now hired another contractor to fix the sump discharge for us, and have since re-re-finished our basement over the fall of 2018.
Just had Austin and Miguel finish installing a landscape outlet. They were both professional and courteous. Finished the job in a timely manner and explained to me how the system works. Would highly recommend them and Basement Systems.
We called the professionals at Basement Systems USA after we saw our wall starting to crack from moisture. After much research for a company we found their information and plenty of wonderful reviews (all true). We called to set up an appointment and the gentleman Scott Beard we spoke to was extremely polite and very accommodating. He came out the next day. He was extremely through and was at the house two hours performing an extremely detailed review of the damage. Hi write up was very precise and specific and the estimate we received was fair and right on the money. He was just a very friendly and sociable person and we knew right away that we wanted to hire them for the job. We called him next day and he promptly sent the contract over. The contract was very straightforward and fair and the required deposit was very reasonable. I liked that they didn't expect full payment until the job was done, inspected and approved by all parties. As soon as the contract was signed and the down payment was confirmed they got our appointment set up with the foreman for him and his team to come out immediately. Sean Ryan and his crew were extremely professional, friendly and punctual. They showed up on time, laid plastic down to prevent tracking dirt in (we have carpeting), covered the furniture in the effected area and kept their equipment in one place to avoid clutter. The job was supposed to be done in one day but once they got behind the wall they found additional damage and black mold. Even though this was not part of the original problem (understandable since you can't predict what you will find behind the wall), they offered to eliminate the mold and make the additional necessary repairs. The price for the additional work was also very reasonable. Even better was that they said they would get everything done without having to make another appointment for the new project at a later date if they didn't mind them coming back the next day (Saturday). They worked until dark and got the majority of the work completed. As promised they came back on time the next day and finished the additional work promptly. They did a good job cleaning up and made sure we were happy with the work. The wall looks great (I want to do the whole basement like that now) and the sub pump is working great. We have had no more moisture or water damage. Needless to say we are happy with the final product and appreciate their professionalism and concern with our needs. They went above and beyond (especially by coming out on a weekend to fix an unexpected problem) to get the work done in a timely fashion and with great results. They also have electronic equipment (i.e. iPad) to print out paperwork and take payments which makes it easy if you don't like writing checks. Overall we are very satisfied with Sean Ryan and his crews work, Scott Beard's help in getting everything set up and the whole company for helping us solve our problem. We have already recommended them to my parents and would recommend them to anyone who needs assistance with their basement.

I had water leaking into my basement from the wastewater exit pipe. Basement Systems USA tried a repair job from the inside. The next rainfall I had more water leaking in the same spot. The company came back out and dug down from the outside and resealed that way. We've had a few big storms since and not a drop in the basement. Unlike the first company I hired for this repair, Basement Systems stood by their guarantee and did what it took to get it right. Awesome job. Highly recommend!

The crew at Basement Systems USA was great to work with. We have a strange small house with a crawl space/basement. I honestly cannot imagine living here anymore without the cleanspace liner they installed. It makes our space great for storage and keeps the dirt and dampness far away from our lungs (on the ground and not in the house). I had Basement Systems USA put an egress window in my basement, so I could use the space as a bedroom. Every step of the process was a pleasure. I contacted 5 companies and only Basement Systems USA sent out a sales person to look over the job before giving me a quote. After setting up financing and scheduling the job, Basement Systems USA sent out a crew led by a foreman named Esteban. The crew had to work both inside and outside of my home while I was working from home. The crew was extremely professional. They left NOTHING around, or inside, my home when they left and other than some noise I couldn't even tell they were there. I would recommend this company and this crew to anybody looking to have work done around their home.
Edit: We are definitely a customer, and can back it up with proof... photos taken and shared over email with your responses, plus the financing we signed up for to get it done and payments we're still making. This name is an online persona, but my real last name is Gerkin, and my husband and I live in Bear, DE, if that jogs your memory. We also still have a box of leftover dark wood flooring that was left here when they installed the wrong color before they replaced it with the right color we chose. Also have email dialogue between my husband, Bob, and General Manager, David Ryan working out the kinks of what went wrong with the work done the first time.
This review is late, but we hired this company in late 2018 to tear up the old rough carpet that was growing mold in the half basement of the house we had just bought and moved into earlier in the year. Took a couple of days to treat the concrete under the carpet with a mold killer, and replace the carpet with waterproof flooring. The floor was also sloped down in one corner a bit, and part of their job was to level the floor, which they assured us they could do. After the job was done, it took a few days to see that the job was done very poorly... they ripped out the old baseboards and replaced them with their own, but it looked like they weren't properly measured and cut to fit each wall base right, so there were some slight gaps in the corners where they were supposed to meet, and filled with rubbery type of glue/adhesive. It looked rushed, sloppy, and terrible. On top of that, the floor was still uneven, not leveled well... it even seemed more uneven if that's possible, kind of lumpy in places... you could tell by walking on it, some spots the flooring would have a little give under foot, where others it felt solid. Also, the flooring they installed was the wrong color... we chose a light wood color, and got a very dark smoky wood color. We reached out to them through email and showed them pictures we took of everything as proof, and they offered to have someone come out to look and confirm. When they did, and saw first hand the subpar work we got, they agreed to redo it with different people. We are grateful they did that, and the work the second time around is better and they replaced the flooring with the right color, but the floor is still uneven after trying to level it again a second time. And the baseboard in one corner is a little off, but the rest looks acceptable. They gave us a slight discount off the total price of the job, by deducting the price of materials used for the leveling, since that still didn't work out, so I guess that's a plus and we appreciate that. Still, all in all, it was more trouble than it was worth, and took more time than it should have because of the redo. It was our first home improvement in our first home, and it was less than a stellar experience. Don't think we'll be hiring this company again for any further basement work, and will look for someone else in the future.

Mike Dyer visited today for the annual servicing of our triple sump pump system. Mike was friendly, honest and very knowledgeable about our basement system. He went the extra mile to inspect the entire finished basement, garage, exterior doors and window-wells. Mike cleaned everthing that he touched, caulked/sealed a few areas of potential concern and fully cleaned and tested the well and pump system(s). We will certainly invite him back next year and we are grateful for the excellent service that he demonstrated on behalf of Basement Systems USA.
Basement Systems installed a SaniDry dehumidifier system in our basement and the results have been incredible. The air quality in our finished basement had been damp, dank and musty smelling until the installation of this system. The SaniDry dehumidifier is powerful, quiet and completely automatic and the basement air quality has never been so good. I can say with complete confidence that this an an investment a homeowner will never regret.

I own a small rancher in Perry Hall, MD with great space and windows in an unfinished basement. I had high hopes for this space until repeatedly seeing standing water along the basement perimeter after heavy rains. Also began to notice what was already stale air becoming worse. We wouldn't even take our baby down with us when getting laundry because it was so funky and musty. To invest thousands of dollars into this space just to have it rot from the inside would be insanity. After a lot of research and rave reviews from a neighbor with the same system, I decided to go for it.
The work was recently completed and the space feels completely different; no water or moisture anywhere. The smell is already slightly improved. My wife and I can now make plans for our future family room with some peace of mind.

Basement Systems truly did a wonderful job transforming my basement dump into a fabulous space and fixing up the sun porch. Mike D., the foreman, was terrific. We had a great experience with Basement Systems when they installed our finished basement. Our house is old and the crew faced a number of unexpected problems once they started their work. The head of the crew, Devin, did a thorough job in explaining the problems and how they could be resolved. He answered my questions (of which there were probably too many!) in a friendly and courteous manner. Devin's crew did meticulous work. Despite this attention to detail and the delays caused by the unanticipated problems, the crew finished in the time originally estimated or very close to it.
In installing some sheeting on the walls on an unfinished portion of the basement, Devin also discovered that the back of my oil tank was deteriorating and should probably be checked out. I called the oil company the following week and they said the tank was in bad shape and would be leaking shortly if not replaced. I appreciate the heads-up from your crew that saved me the aggravation that would have come with an oil leak in the basement. ______________
Recently another serviceman, Mark Loeffert, came by to install some additional sheeting in an unfinished area of the basement. He did a very thorough job of adding sheeting in a difficult area-- around the new oil tank. In addition he checked our waterproofing system (which Basement Systems had installed in 2005) to make sure that there were no problems and he installed a new battery to replace the very old original one. Mark provided some information about a dehumidifying system and left some literature and answered all of my questions. I appreciated Mark's friendliness and thoroughness. Once again, very happy with my Basement Systems interaction.

Within a year of hiring this company, The area franchisee was no longer the same group that Installed and delivered the products I bought from Basement System USA. I was Told by the company it wasn t their fault and that they would have to charge me to fix the work that basement system USA franchise had done. I contacted the main company and was basically told theres nothing they could do and they would have someone call me. Another one of their franchisees called me and offered to come out and do the work but I would be charged. Why would I have to pay for work and products that weren t even 6 month old. DIRTY COMPANY, this is more like one of those bait and switch things where they take your money and run and then blame someone that s no longer part of their company
From beginning to end, the experience that we have had with Basement Systems has been exceptional. They arrived on time, they were clean and courteous and walked us through the process. From start to finish this company exceeded my expectations. We needed French drains, a Sump Pump, and some reinforcement done to one basement wall. The salesperson, Tim, who came out for the initial estimate was thorough and helpful. He explained everything I needed to know, answered all of my questions, and put absolutely NO pressure on me to make a decision. After I decided to go with Basement Systems USA, it was only about a day before they called to schedule the work. They were able to schedule the work for about a month from then. They completed the work in 2.5 days. They were sure to put down tarps for walking through my house and hauled out 100% of the debris from jack-hammering my concrete floors. I was thoroughly impressed from start to finish and highly recommend them!
My house is located in a wet area and I always have water coming into my crawlspace, even if it hasn t rained in several weeks. The moisture issues are compounded by the presence of iron ochre, which would cause the trench drain and sump pit in my crawlspace to clog and overflow unless I crawled back into it and treated it with bleach/chlorine every week.
Basement Systems suggested a plan to install a new drainage system and relocate my sump to an area that would be much easier to access and maintain. They upgraded the existing sump pump to a triple safe system with three pumps (including a battery backup!) so I have multiple redundancies in place to prevent flooding. They also wrapped my crawlspace with a heavy duty vapor barrier to keep all of that moisture from permeating up through my house.
I couldn t have been happier with Javier and his crew, and my wife had no qualms about having them in our house while I was away at work. They called me several times to communicate their schedule, and took care to protect the flooring on the main level of my house. Javier was more than willing to work with me to route the sump discharge pipes in the area I wanted them. He and his crew worked very hard and put in extra hours to have the job completed on schedule in two days even though they ran into several unexpected issues. I couldn t be happier with the quality of work, the professionalism of the crew, and the integrity of company, and wouldn t hesitate to recommend Basement Systems to anyone.

We recently had some waterproofing/structural work done on our basement through basement systems usa. We had three terriffic crew members, Chris, Shane and Luna. The job began on October 24th and finished up on October 26th. This crew was efficient, knowledgable, pleasant, courteous, polite, punctual and on overall pleasure to work with. We are very happy with the outcome of the work that they did and I would highly recommend this company and crew to other people who are looking to have work on their basement completed in a professional and timely manner. I like this company. We were scheduled to have basement drainage system installed for beginning of Sept 2011, the day happened to be 2 days after Hurricane Irene. Jorge and his crew showed up on time and finished the job as they promised. The crew did a wonderful job. They were very knowledgeable and patient. It s a very responsible company, too. They had to open a window to put a ventilation pipe during the work. Unfortunately, the old small basement window fell and broke. They came back shortly and installed a new window for us. We are very happy with the drainage system and the triple safe sump pump system installed. Now we re planning to have them do 2nd project, installation of the bright wall for our basement. I was not able to post the above review on yahoo website due to technical problem. Now our 2nd project has been finished. Still Jorge and his crew came and finished as scheduled. They covered your furniture before work and left the place clean after job. They paid attention to every detail until you were satisfied. I m very happy with the result. Our basement looks bright and clean with the bright wall.
Miguel Baez and his crew did an amazing job on our waterproof and refinished basement. They were professional the two weeks that they finished our basement. Miguel walked through what they were going to work on each day along with any problems that seemed to come up or any professional concerns that he felt should be addressed. They arrived each day at a reasonable time and worked until the job was complete for the day...not leaving anything half-done. Overall, terrific job and we would recommend the company to anyone who wants to get their basement (re)finished. The only suggestion is where the corner caps meet there should be a cap to cover the gap instead of the wall tape.
If I had know this 10 years ago, I would have definitely had this new sump pump system and drains put in then. I worried for years any time we had a strong and continuous rain that I would get water in due to the way the back yard was landscaped. Give the company great reviews and the installers were absolutely tremendous. I would definitely recommend them
Basement Systems USA did a WONDERFUL job waterproofing my basement. They did a very thorough job and the team was excellent and cleaned up everything afterwards. I am very happy with the results of the waterproofing and so far we have had a few tough rainstorms since the waterproofing and not a single drop of water has entered the basement. I have recommended this company to several of my friends interested in waterproofing as well!
We would highly recommend this company for anyone looking to make their basement a livable area of the house. We now have a wonderful family room in the basement. It's dry and comfortable and beautiful. I never thought it was possible (our basement used to be smelly and mildewy and gross)!! Nathan was our foreman and his attention to detail was extra ordinary. The whole system really works! The Sani dry is a great product. It's a little more costly than your usual drywall type of basement, but absolutely worth it. They are willing to work with you as far as adding and/or subtracting services to for your budget. Thank you so much. I highly recommend them!

Had a basement egress window installed with well duct system. I am not the easiest person to please and I am one those guys who does things himself because I want it done right. This was not a job I could handle and after getting a few quotes I really liked their products and solutions. There was a delay in my scheduled install date due to an inventory issue which I was not pleased with, and I near ripped up the contract. Was not a great start. I can tell you though that this company has the highest integrity. The general manager was honest with me, and told me exactly what happened, and did everything he could to make it right. The install went great, Javier and his crew were outstanding, they worked hard and take pride in their work. I cant say I ever saw the crew not working while they were here. I am extremely pleased with the end result, exactly how I pictured it and its brought the space alive by bringing in much needed sunlight and additional benefit of safety. With everything in life, its not how you start its how you finish. This company will always finish on top, mistakes can happen, but how a company deals with it defines a great company. This organization is amazing! Sean Ryan's was in full communication on day one, prior to arrival, explained the project to me upon arrival and throughout the day if issues would arise. He was very professional and managed the work of his crew in a top-notch fashion. Teddy was all about business and I am not sure there was a minute, each day, I did now see in full motion. The job site stayed organized and productive the whole 3 days. I have hired other contractors for work at my home, but this is the first crew that was on time, maintained the project timelines and provided excellent customer service. Thanks. Willie provided outstanding services for the following reasons: the crew arrived on time and completed job the same day, described in layman's term what was completed by crew, and there is no water in basement after two storms ... However need more time to truely evaluate waterproofing. I would definitely use and recommend Willie and his crew for other services that their company provided.
The work was done in DE . I am very unhappy with the service i have received from your company. We had a horrible experience. We met Lew Hines as the sale rep. He came in we explained that we were having mold issues in our basement. We already had a frenchdrain system and sumppump pumb in the basement and never had water in our home. We were sold on a dry barrier system and new sump pump and new drain system. Also a ring around our water tank. After a long wait we called Lew to talk about his quote we seen that he did not put all four wall in the quote but only 3.5 walls. We called him and he said since it is interior wall it did not need to have the system running and would tie into the old system so he took off the other half wall since it was interior. We also removed a oil tank and told him he needs to adjust the work order. When the men came out we found out the work order was not updated. I found this out after they removed 70% of the old system no turning back. The guy seen i was not happy and i told him what the sale person said he explained that they over sold me and that he will finsh the job if i throw him and his guys some extra money on the side. I told him to do the job on the ticket. I called Lew and told about the work order and he called the project manager. They start to work on were the oil tank and were suppose to take the lip off the old system off so it would match the new system. When I was outside discussing another issues now with the drain being left in the ground since we had the waste line moved to side of the house. The two men took out the old system on the interior wall. They told me that it dose not need to have a system and will be fine. Then the guy told me that we need to put chemical called mold kill and i would need to leave my house for three hours. Told him that my daughter is in remission and we do not want any spray and on top that no one talked to me about it before hand. They left and next couple of days it rained and we had water now in my basement from were the exterior wall and interior wall met. ( the system they took out but were not suppose to take out). They came out again and put in about two feet of the drain system said it will tie it in. They man who came out told my wife the water may be coming from a pipe leaking she explain to him the it is leaking cause we had to unhook the washer and the utility sink and is not cause the water to come up from the ground. Well it rained again and it happen again they came out and add another few feet to the system on the interior wall. Rained again and guess what it did it again. Lew came out and we told him everything he said he will give us a dehumidifier $1,600 and finsh off the interior wall. Well they did took forever and gave us aa hard time working aroubd our schedle. Also never got the ring around my water tank or the dehumidifer we were promised. Each time they came out I had to unhook the washer tje dryer and my ubtiltey sink go with our a washer for 48 hours each time. Now two weeks ago my wife contactes Lew about the dehumidifer and the ring around the water tank said he is out of the office and will call monday been over a week never herd from him. Tell me what should I do now.
