Horrible customer service. I asked for a regular scrambled egg with our meal after I was told they could make any type of egg I wanted - instead of what we ordered, we were given the standard custard. When I pointed that out and brought my meal straight up to the counter, I was rebuffed and told This is our scrambled egg - we scramble it and bake it. Okay ma am, I know what a custard is. That s not what I ordered. I spoke with two of the other employees when she walked away and they both had attitudes about it :( So I ordered a over easy egg, now kind of upset that I couldn t get the regular scrambled egg I requested. When I tried to hand her back the food, she told me to throw it away myself. Still don t quite understand why I couldn t get a regular scrambled egg without walking away from a restaurant I liked feeling bad.

The food here is pretty delicious but things start to fall apart once they get busy.

The counter service coupled with a long deep seating area mean that it's really hard to figure out when and where you can grab a seat during their rush periods.

Without a host or any signs indicating whether you should order first or sit first, it's a pretty miserable experience if you are trying to eat at the same time as everyone else in Lincoln Square.

Went here for breakfast this morning and had the southern hash and a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was lukewarm. I felt that my potatoes and eggs were kind of blah overall. No seasoning on the potatoes or eggs. I got the gravy on the side which I was happy about because I didn't think it was that good. I wouldn't come back. Paying $20 for what I consider to be subpar food with basically serving and cleaning up after yourself was not worth it for me. Won't be back.

Any time I'm in Chicago, I make it a point to come to this place. Food and Wine Magazine brought me here, but the food and customer service keeps me coming back. I absolutely adore this restaurant and I love that they sell their stone ground grits (among many other things). Check them out on Istagram!

One of my favorite places in Chicago. All of the baked goods are outstanding, but my favorite is whatever Doughboy is on offer (that's a baked doughnut). The breakfast and lunch is on point too, and don't miss the jam bar

I wanted to support local businesses during COVID so I finally got around to trying Baker Miller and I'm so happy I did! I have ordered the party pie, cinnamon rolls, white bread, and biscuits acrosd 4-5 visits. Walk up ordering was easy, as was the online pre-order. The pie was great, cinnamon rolls were fantastic and HOLY COW the biscuits are delicious! Staff have always been very pleasant and helpful. My only issue so far was that the cinnamon rolls were take and bake and didn't have reheating directions, but it was easy enough to figure out. Will definitely be ordering from them again, especially after seeing how they have treated their staff throughout the stay at home order - it seems like they actually care a lot about their employees and their health and it's great to see!

Not only does Baker Miller offer exceptional service, food and drink, but they are creative innovators in serving our community tirelessly. It always brightens my day to stop in for brunch to enjoy The Ben (one of my favorite breakfast sandwiches ever) and a cinnamon roll (theirs are the best) and a loaf of sourdough (fantastic) to take home. It's also always a treat to pop in on my way to work to fill my travel coffee mug (without a doubt one of my favorite cups of coffee in the city) and grab a hand pie (yum, yum, yummmm). They should get a sixth star for making their own graham crackers for their pie crust (try the key lime, STAT) and a seventh for all of the work they do to lift up others in our neighborhood and beyond (from sharing smiles with customers to donating to worthy causes to promoting other local businesses to being a beacon of light during the pandemic). Baker Miller, thank you for everything you do for Lincoln Square! We love you!

Baker Miller has been my go to bakery since moving up to Lincoln Square over a year ago. They ve now become my go to take out spot during the current crisis. Easy online ordering. Smooth contactless pick up. Delicious and decadent food and treats. Today we picked up deli salads, brats, and bread. And they threw in fresh baked hotdog buns! We did the Mother s Day brunch package a few weeks ago. Amazing. I was finally able to try and take and bake cinnamon rolls since they often sell out. Yesterday we picked up breakfast sandwiches and the lox plate. Each plate and sandwich comes with a fresh green salad. Don t forget to ask for plastic ware/napkins if you plan on eating it before you get home. And don t forget your mask if you re ordering at the window. Kudos to this small bakery for pivoting so quickly. This neighbor is thankful you figured out how to make this work.

We are big fans of Baker Miller. We used to go just once-in-a-while as it's super yummy and high quality but also priced accordingly. With the pandemic and all, we find ourselves getting food from restaurants less overall, but getting food (especially a loaf of hot bread right at opening time) from Baker Miller more -- the food is always delicious, it travels generally pretty well (some other eat-in places have definitely not mastered the art of take-out food) and they've been pretty open and transparent online about all the measures they are taking to keep employees and customers safe.

Coffee was good. I have the elote grits which were sooooo delicious. My friends enjoyed their meals. I love the ambiance and the staff was really nice. The three meals with three coffees came out to 52 dollars. Not sure if I feel like it s pricy because it was really delicious and I think it was organic so it was a good choice. My friend said the salad dressing was great. And the biscuits and gravy were Super scrumptious.

Solid NOPE for me. The biscuit and gravy was good until we found 2 hairs in them. The salmon benedict came out quick but was served with soft boiled (?) eggs instead of poached eggs like I'm accustomed to and the green salad tasted milky, the way greens do when they start to go bad. I pushed through my hairless meal and it pushed right back up an hour later. Try going when they are less busy so that they can pay more attention to your meal.

I've never had a bad experience at Baker Miller.

I've never had a bad experience at Baker Miller.

First, every menu item is delicious. The elote hash is a personal favorite. Plus being able to get freshly baked bread (and treats!) from a local business is one of the things that regularly makes our gratitude list. They also sell frozen loaves to store in the freezer that keep us satiated all week!

Second, the staff are always friendly and Baker Miller has gone above and beyond to keep feeding the community--including donated meals for hospitals--while keeping workers and customers safe. Online ordering is super easy and converting their space to a convenient pickup window was ingenious.

Don't forget to follow their second Instagram account @bakermillerpups for a daily dose of joy!

I ve heard a lot about this place and finally went in. What I found was a pretty decent but unremarkable eating experience surrounded by lots of eclectic cafe flair reminiscent of a pop up, Instagram bar.

I had a cappuccino with zero artistry and my friend had a tasty kombucha that came in a bottle that you can pour into a mason jar. For my breakfast I had the sausage maple cheddar biscuit. I underestimated the biscuit portion which was easily my least favorite part, but I just don t like biscuits. My friend enjoyed it. The eggs and cheddar were tasty though the egg was a custard which meant scrambled and then fried - I would have preferred a nice, greasy fried egg. The maple was a great touch.

My friend had the Shakshouka Heirloom Oat Bowl. I was instantly jealous. The oat/grain base was hearty and flavorful, topped with all sorts of goodies like avocado, a hard boiled egg and the shakshouka which I believe was the spicy red salsa like substance that soon dominated the whole mix. I had potatoes on the side of my biscuit sandwich instead of salad and dipped it in the mix, and it was amazing.

The whole meal cost over $40 before tip which was a bit of a shock. This is not a place to go for a quick bite. It s cute, has a patio and the staff isn t rude but for my eating experience I really felt like I overspent. I don t know that I have any reason to return, it was a fun experience but I can t justify the price for what I had.

I think Baker Miller is about a 3.4, so I rounded down.

Even having moved out of the neighborhood, I like to make it back here a few times a month - they're a great resource for breakfast or pie throughout the day, but I also love getting their bread and pastries to take home. A real gem, with a great connection to the neighborhood. Can't get enough!

You should definitely go here. You should also definitely take public transit (at least if you go mid day on a Sunday) because parking in the area is very crowded then (but it didn't feel crowded inside, plenty of space at tables). Nice and casual. Food came surprisingly quick and was really really yummy. Staff also friendly.

Any of the baked goods - bread, pastries, pies- are out of this world! I've had just about every regular breakfast dish and leave with a happy tummy time after time. Their lunch menu leaves a little to be desired, but still some good, hearty options to keep you fueled. Staff is warm and friendly and eager to answer questions and give recommendations when asked. Their new location on Lincoln Ave is an upgrade and I love seeing how busy they have been this week with the increased foot traffic.

Dined in on a Friday morning. I had the Elote Hash. The menu says this comes with a "soft egg" but I asked the nice man at the counter if they could give me an over easy egg instead as I'm totally opposed to runny egg whites. He said it was cool and had the cook (owner?) come over and show him how to adjust my egg preference on the tablet. When the dish came, that egg yolk was hard. Like chalky hard. He fried that thing all the way through.

My boyfriend ordered the Egg & Bacon biscuit with a side of potatoes.

The potatoes on both of our dishes were definitely under cooked. Despite those things, we enjoyed our food. The pastries looked delicious and they have horchata pie! I mean, c'mon now. We'll definitely be back for it.

Gotta say though - you guys need to clean your bathrooms up a bit. There were some gross looking questionable spots in there.

Had high expectations, based on what I had read from other reviews around the web. I was looking forward to the "famous" oatmeal as I am a big fan of oatmeal (that sounds kinda weird now that I type it out, but it's true). The oatmeal was.... ok. I mean, the flavors were good, but it was lukewarm and on the watery side. Honestly, I'll take the steel cut oats that I make any day of the week (Alton Brown's recipe - look it up). But the real let down was that they "ran out of eggs". Mind you, I got there about 10 minutes after they opened on a Sunday, so when I heard that they'd run out of eggs, I (like the other patron who wanted to order eggs) was like..... what? How does a breakfast place run out of eggs 10 minutes after they open? (and by the looks of things, there were only a few people there since they had opened, which means they had really run out of eggs the day before, but.... no one noticed??)

This place is great! It has awesome food that you're just not going to be able to find the equal of unless you spend three times what's being charged and go to a high end restaurant. The people there are always super nice and hard workers, it's great to see a work environment where people enjoy what they do and are willing to put out the effort to make their establishment great!

Tried the grits and was served cold sausages. When I tried to tell the kitchen I was given more cold sausage links. With my third mention the woman working the kitchen didn t acknowledge me or seem to care. $15 for a cold under cooked breakfast. I know you were busy but please listen to your customers who have valid complaints about their food.

Baker Miller is one of our favorite places in Lincoln Square. Whenever we are in town we make sure to come by for breakfast. The lox sandwich is a perfect combination of light and filling. It's one of those meals that makes you feel like you're starting the day off right! The coffee isn't our favorite (it's a little too acidic tasting as we prefer bold/dark coffee) but it's still yummy and pairs well with breakfast! We also love the outdoor dining area and the art hanging in the restaurant!

Baker Miller scratches a lot of itches, I find myself going out of my way to drop by for just about anything they offer. The take and bake cinnamon rolls are insanely good and can make any dreary, cold, Chicago morning seem like a pleasant day. I'm so thankful that we have such a great institution in our neighborhood!

Baker Miller is not only one of the best places to get delicious food, but they are pioneers in kindness, community giving, and safety for their customers and employees. Their food is excellent (my fav is the elotes grits and cinnamon buns!), high quality, and well worth the visit and price. Did you know they MAKE their own graham crackers for their graham cracker crust pies?!? They are constantly trying new things and growing and improving as a business. They run weekend specials, sometimes have unique dining opportunities that are sometimes a limited run or new experiments (burgers that were heavenly and the buffalo grits!!). But above all they are really paying attention to science and safety when making policies for how they conduct business during this pandemic. Curb side pick up and limited range delivery only. Lots and lots of love for this bakery at the heart of my neighborhood.

Such a great atmosphere and the front counter person was so very sweet and patient as this was my first time in. My only reason for giving 3 stars is the latte was just not up to par. The milk was a bit over steamed and it was kind of just, here s some milk with shots in it, as opposed to a nicely frothed smooth latte. I will definitely be back as their commitment to giving back is strong.

This is a great spot for breakfast, lunch, or a snack on the go. From my understanding, all the bread is made there, and the actual flour is ground there as well? I went there when it first opened and have been back around 5 times since then. Really good coffee and the food is all very good as well, though somehow each time I go I seem to spend around $10 or more. One baked good and a coffee will be closer to $10 than I'm fully comfortable with, but its all delicious. I would recommend their toast / topping buffet option (3 pieces of soft bread with about 10 different type of toppings to try from), their vegan chocolate cake (so moist and dense!), and their version of eggs benedict. Sometimes when I come here I feel like things taste a little weird (not bad), but I think its because I'm used to all the processed bread and bleached flour from stores. This is all natural goodness.

Let's see... Too expensive, you have to pick up your own dishes (oh, so hipster...), pour your own coffee (btw, grab one at Dunkin', it's better). The Ben biscuit is awesome and tasty, but you''ll need a loupe if you want to find it between the vegetables. Do you want pies? May be earlier. And maybe it was bad luck too, but the half and half was out of date: aghhhh. Employees are cool guys, must say.

Migrated from Lincoln Square to 4655 North Lincoln...

Migrated from Lincoln Square to 4655 North Lincoln Avenue after a lease dispute in 2018 Baker Miller is no stranger to turmoil, and amidst a global pandemic the concept from Megan Miller and husband David has resorted to take-out only from 8am until 3pm Thursday through Monday.

Using online or walk-up ordering during COVID-19, staff appropriately donning PPE but inattentive-bordering-on-rude while waiting for two slices of Bread to be toasted, it was on a nearby bench that the Miller s goods were eaten, buttered naturally-leavened Sourdough an immediate highlight thanks to both tanginess and crumb while a $3.75 Biscuit was arguably underbaked at the bottom but nonetheless enjoyable.

Trying hard not to focus on prices, David and Megan s commitment to their craft most certainly commendable, it is hard not to raise an eyebrow at $3.50 for a two-bite Sandwich Cookie that tastes mostly like Sugar, a quarter more for double the amount of Chocolate Chips and perfectly baked Dough faring far better in terms of taste as well as value.

Also performing well with a toothsome Thumbprint Cookie, Strawberry Jam providing just enough sweetness to a blend of Nuts and Oats, those seeking a signature item will find it in Baker Miller s Doughboy, the baked round far lighter than a Doughnut and currently dressed like Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal clocking in at $4.50 after tax far better than the more expensive Blueberry Oat Muffin which finds Fruit in a clump at the center of an otherwise flavorless matrix.

You won't be sad you did.

And while your stuffing your face with sweetroll icing grab a complimentary copy of the tribune and get sweetroll icing all over the pages.

Then think to yourself: maybe I should've gotten a fork.

We are lucky to live just a few blocks away. They are a fantastic community business, always bending over backwards to provide great service. Plus their food is AMAZING. The elote grits, the BLT, the chocolate chip cookies, the avocado toast...it's hard to pick favorites. Even the "simple side salad" is beautifully done. And they're always coming up with fun new specials to keep it interesting. Thanks for being great!

Super Delish! The food is fantastic. Staff has always been very nice. If the food wasn't so good I would probably rank it closer to a 3. Because if I'm being honest, I'm not a huge fan of the concept or comfort level of the actual space. Would most reccomend for take away as it gets pretty slammed especially on weekends, or to go at off-peak hours. Another odd thing is that it seems to be pretty self-serve oriented yet they still ask for tips at the register...

I recently ordered a key lime pie and everyone in my family agreed that it was the best key lime pie we had ever had! You can truly taste the care and high quality ingredients Baker Miller uses. They re one of my favorite bakeries in the city and throughout quarantine I have not found another restaurant taking such high safety precautions, which I really appreciate. Upon arrival, I called from my car and someone brought my order out to me in less than 2 mins and all I had to do was roll my window down!

Everything I ve eaten here tastes like it is made with love. I am a fellow pastry chef and I recognize that bakeries like Baker Miller are hard to come by. The owners and staff put so much care into making the best possible product that they can, and it shows. They also really care about their customers, and often ask for direct feedback and truly listen. I used to live down the street and was addicted to the seeded sourdough and the pecan jammer cookies, oh and also the oatmeal...and the grits....the list goes on. If you haven t supported this place yet, there s no better time than now. I guarantee they will be your new trusted go-to bakery.

The food was not great. I got the Avocado Benedict and the guacamole tasted awful. Also, the eggs were not runny at all. My friend got the biscuit sandwich and she said it tasted so bad she couldn't eat it. I was surprised the food was so bad, I was excited to try this place. The baked goods looked alright though, if I got back I'd probably only get those. Service was super quick!

The doughboys are very good, they go for $3 a piece. When was there they had an Oreo and a caramel apple. The Oreo was a bit deceiving I didn't taste any resemblance but was still very good.

Seating is hard to find, it's a pretty small place so try to go during week. The toast bar looked unimpressive, would stick to a pastry or other menu item.

Everything I have tried here since opening weekend has been phenomenal. From cinnamon rolls and pie to seasonal savory options, I have always been happy. Come early, as they do sell out. It's disappointing to come two hours before closing and find they're out of cinnamon rolls, biscuits, and baguettes, but I take it as a testament to how everything is made fresh and it's never like what's left is a bad choice.

This is our(me and the GF) first time here, and we really enjoyed ourselves. A cute and quint space. We placed our order in front, the GF order the Elote Hash with an egg over medium instead of the soft egg that originally comes with it. I order the Egg and Bacon biscuit sandwich with potatoes. A1 for presentation, the Hash especially. Both our dishes had potatoes and some I mean just some 1/10th of the potatoes were undercooked. The GF egg came over hard unfortunately but it happens quite often when we order in other restaurants. Outside of that the food was great we enjoyed everything. Flavors were there and we would definitely come again. We might just come back later today to have some PIE!!!! The staff were friendly and nice. We would definitely recommend to our friends and family!!

Good local spot to stop in for a pastry and coffee, or sit down and have breakfast/brunch with friends. The breads are amazing and always worth bringing home for everyday use or special occasions. The same can be said about their pies. Also, take and bake cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies? Awesometown.

Also during the COVID time they've been doing curbside and pick-up window. Check their instagram & website for details on hours, menus & availability.

Thought it was just me, but upon her reading the reviews I see it s me and just about everyone else that thinks something is off with this place. It s probably my fourth time here first at the new location. First couple times at the old location I felt the counter people or a bit condescending can t call them servers because nobody brings anything or take anything away yet they still ask for tips. Always found the butter and jam bar messy looking.

Went today and I have the guacamole Benedict not a good combination the guac makes the biscuit a pile of mush and the egg is not poached it was over easy which it does say it is in the menu but it was absolutely runny. When I asked the person at the counter if that s how it usually comes she just said yes. Hollandaise sauce is on the bottom not on the top and the salad is right on the same plate which means the salad dressing is also Holindaise, this should be revisited by the management. The premade coffee in vacuum
Pump style giant thermoses was lukewarm at best and an tasty at worst. They did have oat milk that was niceButter and jam bar still looked messy for the prices they charge there is no value here I won t be coming back
