Opt to be seated on the dock side where u get an amazing view of Table Mountain. One of the better seafood restaurants in Cape Town in my opinion. Not cheap but you get quality for what you pay for.

We had a tuna salad and fish of the day; both were cooked perfectly and well presented. Only con was that the service was a tad slow and with multiple servers helping us I think that there was some confusion on their end.

Very friendly staff and absolutely excellent food. Would definitely recommend the Kingklip. Bit on the pricey side but definitely worth it. Amazing view of the harbor. Would come again.

21/04/2019. Recommended by staff at our hotel and we were certainly not disappointed. Our waiter/server Anthony was impeccable from start to end with his advice and descriptions. Our sea food medley was superb, thoroughly enjoyed dessert and various wines.

Can't believe that I have not yet reviewed this restaurant after visiting it for 17 years. One of the best you get in South Africa!
Needles to say the food is fantastic. Even though the restaurant is 'famous' for its seafood they make the most delicious Chateaubriand. The srevice is second to none and always friendly. The interior makes you feel that you are special and even if you sit on the glass protected deck with the most amazing views of Table Mountain, with its ever changing natural beauty, you still feel special.

A beautiful meal with panoramic views of the waterfront & table mountain, food was stunning, I had the Abalone & kingklip filet, a local fish, along with a crisp Chenin blanc. For the location, the prices were fair in my opinion, the servise, very attentive too. If you like a wide variety of fresh seafood I would recommend this as a great lunch spot.

Overpriced and overrated. Food was OK. Service was good. Location good but very cold even with gas patio heaters on as, although you think your inside, the wind blows through as you are actually seated in "enclosed" conservatory type structures.

We had an excellent experience at Baia in January. Adults shared a seafood platter and prawns in green curry; kids had kingklip and chips. The service was friendly and helpful. The whole meal was just right including wine and dessert. Not inexpensive, but no regrets. We were visiting Cape Town from Canada and this was the best restaurant meal we had on the whole trip.

We went with high expectations. I still suggested the venue as I was a fairly regular at Baia. The last time I was there I received bad service, however I gave them the benefit of the doubt but this time the service was even worse. We waited an hour and 15 minutes for our food. The waiter was absent most of the time. The manager Carlos was called and explained the delay but this was not adequate he really was not worried as the restaurant was packed. So clearly our bad service carried no merit. Our waiter was more concerned with his other table. We called him a few times just to bring sparkling water waited 15 minutes for coke. We had mussels and was not offered a spoon we once again tried to get hold of waiter whom just gave us a hand. I am use to good service and he didn't even offer a complimentary drink or water for the inconvenience. I will never recommend anyone again and would much rather recommend Piguile "s whom is consistent with their service and food.

I don't give out a lot of fives. In fact traveling around the world all these years I have given out less then 5. But they deserve it !
The Dorado was perfectly cooked. The service was great. How about those SA wines? Our server recommended a very nice local dry white that went excellent with our meal. And to think we stumbled into this place at a shopping mall.

Visited the restaurant on Thursday evening, 26 December with a party of 24. Everything great and fancy until after the meal and the next day. All those (7) who ate the seafood platter were ill in someway. Either running stomachs, vomiting or having to stay in bed for at least 24 hours. A message was left with the receptionist on the Monday describing what had happened with a contact number but the restaurant does not have the courage to call back or even respond. This must tell you something.

We also heard of another couple who were at another table who were sick as well.

My recommendation is that this restaurant is another expensive tourist trap.

Not recommended to visit.

Absolutely fabulous! I eaten at Bain before and it s consistently wonderful food and service.
I arrived at 7pm without a booking and I was taken care of by Carlos. He found me a lovely table inside with a view, as outside was fully booked, but I grateful to be seated without a booking.
It was a Sunday evening, and by 8pm they was packed.
I was served immediately by a very friendly and knowledgeable waiter from Macedonia.
I ordered the Mozambique curry and asked for it to be served over langoustines with French fries on the side.

It was absolutely spectacular!!

I have to visit again to try more dishes from the men ;)

For more than 2 decades , Baia restaurant is of the best seafood restaurants in Cape Town .
Carlos and Darryl as hands on owner managers has maintained the high levels set by late owner Louis .
Elegant and classy with outside seating that can seat over 300 people per sitting makes this one of Cape Towns biggest restaurants.
With stunning views of the Waterfront , Table Bay and Table mountain with professional experienced staff serving you with the best of seafood meals , Baia is a must go for the food connoisseur . The food from starter to main to dessert is sublime .

Monday 5 August
I arrived at the restaurant announced the party I was with and was escorted through the main restaurant to another room and joined my party. The place was very cramped too many tables stuffed into the room .
Our waiter arrived at our table and introduced himself. We received our beverages and chatted until the waiter started explaining the menu at such a speed.. I was with an international group who spoke very little English. I asked the waiter if he could slow down so that the non-English speaking guest could follow what he was saying. He carried on at the same pace.

Our food arrived and the waiter who brought it started screaming across our table on top of his voice at our waiter. I was shocked at this behaviour and I could see the expression on the faces of my guest as quite alarming.

The seafood platter was presented in very un- appetizing manner . The crayfish was dry and no source served with it. I have had better at Ocean Basket. The sirloin was well cooked but as bland as ever . No seasoning at all. The spots cravy / source was tasteless.

The rushing around of the waiters created a very chaotic and frenzied atmosphere really not conducive to fine dining and enjoyment.

Food is delicious. Steak and meat portions bigger than seafood. Service is good, however, on the end waiter brought bill with gratuity already written there. Tip that was demanded is more than 400 ZAR.I have to mention that there is already service charge on the bill. I not against it and of course service should be tipped, however, it is not on waiter to decide how much it will be. Even more after payed, waiter started negotiating tip...that ruined impression

Food, ambience, views and service were excellent. Exceptionally flavorful seafood dishes with a range that caters to all tastes. Wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. The place is difficult to find and the outside entrance (the one that Google shows) is blocked... so try the one from inside... a pointless waste of time and resources.

The place looks good but it is overpriced as many restaurants in this shopping mall.

As someone mentioned, it is for a special occasion. Better places for seafood off the beaten track...

And by the way, it is VERY quiet in low season. So, choose it if you want a quiet place.
