I got a bone in my pizza and I chipped my tooth. When I called the next day I got no compensation and now they aren't answering my calls.

Was in town for a few days. Gave it a try. It was very good! If I m in Athens again I will be back!

Vegan and vegetarian pizzas were amazing! Spelt crust was filling and tasty.

Overrated, overpriced, and they plaster "local ingredients" and claim to give back to community when I reality like 3 of their ingredients are local... so add dishonest to that as well.

Love almost everything I've eaten there over the years and appreciated the experience of all the pizzas that were bad in the name of experimenting with ingredients. The owner/manager/staff are all A+ and I would never order pizza from elsewhere without good reason.

World famous pizza, in a world famous City. It's a second too none. Even before I worked there i could see this was a crew made by the love of food in the form pie.. And now that I have worked there for a while. I feel like part of the family that is Avalanche. Because weather it a snow cap rolling down a hill or the best tasting pizza pie your taste buds have ever experienced, an Avalanche is all the way or nothing. Smiles On and thank you...

The best pizza in Athens, hands down, bar none. Make sure to try one of their specialty pizzas (the Godzilla is the one that has won all the awards). Their "boulder" sandwiches are excellent, as well, but beware: the name "boulder" is fitting. It's a huge sandwich. You might want to cut it in half and refrigerate part of it for later.

There is a reason that they keep getting voted best pizza in Athens. Everything is great quality and they use local ingredients whenever possible. They roast the chicken there, and mix the sausage in house, both of which are local ingredients. They make the pizza dough, and all of the breads used for sandwiches are baked fresh daily. Not to mention the house made dipping sauces and a locally made BBQ sauce, and also local feta. Fom a thin crust Kernza pie all the way to thick Detroit style and large NY style pies. If you are feeling sassy or have a group, they also offer a 28 inch pie. Words cannot express how large these pizzas are when you see one in person, neither can a picture.

The people that work there are a bit odd, but the kind of odd that you want making your food in their pizza laboratory.

Maybe being from London I am spoiled, but although this was nice pizza I was expecting more. It didn't help that it was tepid. The base was tasty, and don't get me wrong; it wasn't a bad pizza but it didn't wow me. The tiramisu was still partially frozen. Very reasonably priced though.

Love love love this place. First time we ever been and it was so good. Eating our pizza in nature by the river even better. We loved it

This was our first time eating here and the pizza was delicious. We live out of town however and were unaware this was a take out only restaurant. Thankfully it is a beautiful day so we just took it to the park and ate there. We wanted to order the ny pizza or 3 for deal and there was no way to order either of those online which makes no sense to me. We will likely order from here again due to the taste of the pizza, but there are some business aspects could use some tweaks perhaps.

Love the entire Avalanche menu. My fave by far is the boulder sandwiches at least 2 meals if not 3 huge sandwiches even my son who's a big eater cannot eat the entire thing at one time

Recommend to me by a local while I was in town. Pizza was awesome and tiramisu is a must have!

Great pizzas, regardless of which of the many varieties you choose. I like their "take and bake" option as well. That works out great for people like me who drive over an hour each way just for their pizza. Worth the time, every time.

If there is more than one topping on your pizza it will be uncomfortably soggy.

I love this place. If I was stranded on a theoretical with only one choice of pizza, I would choose Avalanche. The ingredients are always fresh, the menu is diverse, and their food always tastes great. I recommend the 'Cactus Jack' if you are looking for something different.

Great pizza! Terrible service, I waited over 2 hours for a delivery on a Tuesday night. And when I called the worker gave me an attitude. Really need to revamp their staff!

Good to support local businesses but the pizza is just meh

Called about the three pizza deal, which I've heard good things about, and they refused to do BBQ sauce instead of pizza sauce, even if I offered to pay more...? What? I took my business elsewhere for the night.

Worst experience ever! Opened the box and cheese and toppings slid to a corner of the box. The pizza was not cut so we had to try and pull it apart. Pizza was cold. We will never order from this place again. Ever!

I will never understand how or why this place gets such rave reviews and is loved by most in Athens. It is honest to God the worst pizza I have ever had. Got it three different times because I have tried to give it a chance but it just doesn't work for me. It tastes like the cafeteria pizza I used to eat in high school.

It was the worst pizza i had ever had. Now I think I will not eat any pizza further in my life. If it would be possible, I would give it negative stars.

Avalanche has great food. Had a mishap with my order, called in and spoke to a manager and it got resolved well.

Still the best pizza I've had in a long time. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and they take pride in making the pizzas. They have yummy desserts as well and are home made. One bit and you understand why they have won so many rewards for their pizza A++

Their Google page says they re open until 1 o clock I called them at 1130 and they answered the phone only to tell me that they were closed

We were passing through southern Ohio, and ordered avalanche pizza. Had the BLT pizza. It should be called bblt because of the extra bacon. Girl on phone was not the friendliest, but man at counter was nice. But most importantly, the pizza was delicious. Lots of cheese and toppings. But, they could use a different recipe for the crust . It wasnt worthy of the rest of the pizza.

I'm about to order my final pizza as a student at Ohio University, and I'm thankful for all the moments I've spent with Avalanche. From drunken orders after nights out on Court St. Finals week cram sessions, presentations in class where my professor so graciously ordered us all the best pizza in town, and relaxed nights in with my roommates. Avalanche is chewy, crunchy, saucy, cheesy, flavorful, and every other positive attribute you can name for a pizza. Don't leave Athens without trying a slice (or 8!)

I had never been to Ohio before, much less to Athens. I was there for a friend's wedding, and Avalanche Pizza was on the top of the list of recommended eats there.

That pizza, which was our breakfast the day of the wedding, was hands-down one of the best I've tasted. I'm a New York gal, so my expectations for pizza are pretty high. It did not disappoint, and I'm excited to go back and try more flavours next time!

Nothing but bready goodness! Love the crust. They are always gooey cheesy when first out of the box. They know how to make a specialty pizza menu. Lots of options and if your not eating this pizza your not eating pizza at all.

Omg!!!! Had been wanting to visit for about a year now and finally had the opportunity. Called in and ordered three pizzas. They were completed in 20 minutes! All pizzas were awesome.....the 20" pepperoni pizza was my favorite of the three! I cannot wait to visit Athens, OH again........i need more of that pizza!!!!!

Probably the best pizza in Athens for their variety of healthy and not so healthy toppings. Big fan of the Chicken pesto and the K2. Also probably the best tiramisu in town.

Great (let me repeat that) great pizza options. Our car club makes the trip to Athens once a year (for 14 years now) to get pizza and mingle. No dining room, so we order our pizza and tailgate. The biggest problem we have is figuring out which of their unique pizza to order and trying not to order too many of them.

Coming home from a music festival in July near Athens we were recommended this place...all I can say is wow! Vegan options, local kombucha, and plastered on the walls and on your pizza box is a tinge of humor for a great inviting atmosphere.
The pizza tasted phenomenal and my girlfriend and I got to try a new pizza that wasn't even on the menu yet! Definitely recommend you try this place, just be prepared to spend at least 20 for a pie but it's so worth it.

OH WOW what a delicious gem in the middle of SE Ohio. The most wonderful ingredients and a perfect pie.

This is what pizza is all about!!! They even have one with ghost peppers and reaper peppers (heads up...you have to sign a release to get it though) hot hot hot... great service and quick turn-around when ordering.

Amazing pizza! The fact that I can order a pizza on spelt bread is fantastic. Also, the number of ingredients and the quality of the ingredients is outstanding. Love the staff because they love what they do. They are true artisans of pizza making :)

I have been getting the same pizza for the past two months every time my girlfriend comes in town, Gluten-Free Avalanche Ranch. Each time the pizza has been difference price and size. In the beginning we could order a large gluten free that could easily feed two people for 17.99. Tonight we received a 12' gluten free (apparently their NEW standard size) that was still 17.99. The pizza is great and we look forward to it each week but have a hard understanding how a pizza (the size for one) is $18.00. Definitely will be looking for more affordable gluten free options elsewhere.

Had to wait an extra 45 mins after the time they told me, they also gave refunds to two others infront of me but didnt get a refund myself.

Avalanche has some of the best pizza in Southeast Ohio. Their pizza have local and fresh ingredients and you can taste the difference! With their creative pizza names and sides this place is a must try if you ever visit the Athens And Ohio Univeristy area.

We got the pizza with all the meat on it. The chicken tasted rotten and the other meats were bland. There was plenty of toppings and no cheese. $38.00 could have went towards a lot better pizza than that. Cheesy bread sticks tasted like Little Caesars.

this place still open after most of the food chain are close. After going to the bars and having drinks the slide of pizza from Avalancha is the best option you can have.

Delicious, unique pies and breads! My favorite is the Great Steak and Potato Pie, but don't forget to try one of their fresh, hot focaccia and a side of creamy basil pesto sauce!

Seriously good pizza, but a little pricey and NOT consistent. Ordered the Taco pizza at least three times and every time it is different. The last time they put hot sauce (like Frank's Red Hot) on it (never have before, and is not on their description of the pizza) and refused to give another pizza. I also asked they chopped the lettuce and tomatoes, and they said they didn't do that however, the picture of taco pizza has tomatoes.

Avalanche makes a consistently good pie. They have an incredibly diverse selection of toppings and specialty combinations. Spelt crust is a favorite unique offering. They're relatively new, 'New York' style is the closest thing in the area to a true east coast pie. Do note that they're always busy, so you will wait for your pizza. All things considered it is the best pizza in Athens.

Avalanche is this amazing and inventive pizza place in Athens, OH, of all places. It's won multiple national pizza awards and has pizzas with toppings such as artichoke, steak, and kimchi! They also have New York and Detroit style pizza by the slice. Carryout and delivery only. Well worth an order.

Don't even mess around with any other pizza in this town. They make the best pizza from normal types to something new and adventurous. I never take any out of town friends anywhere else. No seating here but they also have good subs and yogurt in store to purchase. Try something new here. You wont be disappointed. They also support local farmers which rocks.

We had a large Hawaiian pizza. Tasty and not greasy! Promptly made!

What can I say: Avalanche is handsdown the best pizza I've ever had. It's an Athens food landmark. Their normal pizzas are fantastic, but it's really all about the specialty pizzas here. I recommend the loaded baked potato pizza, personally. Their Mount-Carb-O-More's are also delicious.
