I job shadowed here as a care manager (cna) for 4 days here. It was the worst experience I've ever had working at a care facility and I've been in the field for 11 years! The place is beautiful and from the outside looking in appears to be a great place for your family member to live. They put on a great facade! When actually working here I saw that 99% of the staff appeared very unhappy here and took it out on eachother in front of anyone. The very worst part was their staffing. There were 51 residents at the time i started and 3 care managers scheduled for the day shift, but not for the entire shift by any means! One care manager is done by 1pm, another at 2pm and the last one stays until 3pm. So for at least one hour there is only one staff to take care of 51 residents! And let me tell you that the "assisted living " title is definitely inappropriately used because there are several heavy care residents who were unable to get the care they needed because of poor staffing. Staff were consistently allowed to leave early due to personal issues without any staff replacement. The person I shadowed with was working with a sprained knee and literally had to run from resident rooms to pick up the slack from being under staffed. During my time there I heard several residents say things like "why is everyone so crabby around here?" and "guess you won't have time for such and such today because you're working short again." I even had one gentleman tell me he'd love to have me stay working there but if I did I'd be sorry. I did my 4 days and I did not return back and yes, I told the DON why. There's no way I could work in that environment! Found another job working in an adult foster home the next week and I LOVE it.

I have 2 friends living at Oak Terrace. Oak has a variety of room sizes to accommodate various needs. Each unit is spacious and has a big window to let in natural light. The residence is clean and well kept. They have a bus that goes on weekly outings to stores and sometimes lunch.

I really want to give Jennifer Cox and the Activities Department 5 stars! ManagerJennifer Cox is always friendly and willing to help as needed. Thank you Jennifer for going out of your way to help me when I need it. My friends tell me they appreciate her always acknowledging them with a smile and cheerful hello. The activities department is very active and everyone is outgoing and fun to be around. A friend and I have recently started volunteering with our therapy dogs and we feel very welcomed and appreciated by them. The activities staff make sure our room is set up for us and residents are brought in to enjoy the dogs. Thank you we appreciate all your efforts as we can see how much the residents enjoy our dog show.

I moved my Mother from Milwaukee WI to Oak Terrace...

I moved my Mother from Milwaukee WI to Oak Terrace in November. My husband and I searched for a home that could take care of my Mom who has Alzheimer's. We were pretty unhappy until we discovered Oak Terrace. Very clean and friendly but most of all the people from Jennifer Cox on down are caring and helpful every step of the way. Oak Terrace employs staff to help with all needs plus nurses (A HUGE plus). A PA comes in twice per week . There is a hair salon which is open on Friday's. We work with a transport service (Uplift) for our personal outings. Staff is receptive to my requests. I love the small town culture.
Only drawback is there isn't a dentist who comes in.
I would highly recommend Oak Terrace.

Oak Terrace Senior Living of Jordan is a wonderful community. It is beautiful and inviting! We appreciate that the activity director is always planning fun and unique activities and the residents and staff have become like a family.

Nurses were very impatient and rude. Executive Director is never around and allows the nurses to run the facility. Accused my parent of false claims that he was a problem patient and then kicked him out based on fake incidents. If you are on medical assistance and not private pay, there are discriminatory practices. We found out from a nurse later that quit and went to HCMC that the nurse that accused my parent of violent act lied and was later fired.

My mom moved into Oak Terrace in May of 2013. She lived there until she passed away on July 29, 2018 at the age of 87.
The five years that my mom lived at Oak Terrace were some of her best. She was a very active and social person. She loved all the activities and outings that Oak Terrace provided. The activities director is amazing. A monthly calendar is put out to all the residents. I even had one emailed to me so I could have conversations with my mom about her activities.
As children, going to visit mom was like going home. The staff was exceptional and very caring. I never once felt that my mom was not being cared for and that her needs were not being met.
As children, you want what s best for your parents. You want comfort, safety, and good nutrition. I knew my mom was eating healthy. She was comfortable and as safe as she could be.
I can t thank Oak Terrace enough for all their care, kindness, and compassion.
As I reflect back now, on my mom and Oak Terrace, my brother and I have no regrets. Oak Terrace was the best place for mom.
I would highly recommend Oak Terrace for anyone looking for place for a loved one.

Our family have 2 love ones residing at Oak Terrace. Both have numerous issues that need nursing assistance. Kudos to staff, I could not handle a job that requires such skill. I visit regularly the place is always spotless. I eaten there the food is good and well portioned. Its always heart wrenching to see your family member fade. I can't imagine how the staff must feel when they deal with that on a daily basis

My mother was fortunate to have stayed at Oak Terrace the last few years of her life. She was born and raised in the Jordan community and knew some of the residents at the facility, which helped the transition to her new home. Most importantly, the staff at Oak Terrace gave her the necessary care and support she required. They always treated her with respect and dignity. Anyone looking for an assisted living facility for a family member should visit Oak Terrace. It's a healthy environment that meets the needs of your loved one.

my mother in law was there for several years until she passed in April. She loved the staff and the facility. It is located right next to a cornfield and by a school so it is a great location. The activities staff are also awesome. My mother in law was able to transition from assisted living to memory care. I would recommend Oak Terrace for your loved one.
