Never a fan of politics, but be in the room of democracy was inspiring enough. It is a special place in a special location, cannot have a equal experience somewhere else.

A must in trip to Canberra.

Excellent building well worth the trouble of walking up there, beautiful wood and masonry to see within. You also get a sense of Australian Politics and wonder where the aborigines are represented. There's hardly a sight of them?

One of the must visit places in Canberra. Two hours free underground parking. Free and paid tours available. You can checkout the politicians in action if there is a sitting. You can also go to the rooftop for a panoramic view looking towards the Australian War Memorial.

Really nice. 2 hrs free parking on weekdays. And free on weekends.

The snack bar has great food and the bar has great beer nuts and have a huge selection of beer on tap! Definitely coming back next year for a holiday!

An amazing place to reflect and educate yourself on Australia s past and present politics.

This is free to enter, of course, only open some of the front part of the visitors, in fact, I think it is more interesting to look outside, the scenery is beautiful. The mountains in many parts of Australia are blue and are very unique.

Very cool place. Has a cafeteria with outdoor seating in case you are hungry. There are tours in which you can learn some cool Australian history and a lowdown on the political system. What's neat is that you can see where the politicians meet to make laws and important decisions.

my great grandfather helped deliver the grass from Seymour, Victoria to the parliament house to put it on the top.

Highly recommend the free guided tours, which were very informative. Learn about the architecture and symbolism of the building, how bills are passed and more. Take the lift near the House of Representatives chamber to the roof.

The cafe makes amazing pizza. We even saw a family have high tea.

It was a great and a humbling experience visiting the parliament house during the Easter break. We took the free guided tour, which took us through the house of representatives and the Senate. The tour guide was very good and gave us a lot of insight into the history of the house along with interesting nuggets about the daily operations of the MP s. It is a majestic building, well constructed and a great view of the city from the roof.

Amazing building, incredible representation of our country, a great symbol of our great country, would have given five stars except for the appalling lack of leadership and joke of a leadership that we seem to have been stuck with the last few decades that seems to be directing this country into the ground.

They tell us to go about our daily business and not change what we do because of terrorism. They ignore their own advice and build a big fence around their offices to protect themselves.

Me and my husband really enjoyed walking around here, we got there judy before 4.30 so had half hour to have a fast walk around which was fine, got to see everything i wanted to. Very pretty place. Definitely recommended for good touristy place

One of the better looking parliament houses, and befitting of a nation such as this.

Really interesting building, both from an archtectural point of view and for what it represents. The Lego reproduction of the House is also amazing! Great to see the Senate and the House of Representatives with their distinctive colours.

A very amazing and beautiful building. It's a great place to go visit when there are graduations and ceremonies.

Despite being relatively new (1988) the architecture is full of symbolism. One of may favorite buildings.
As well as going inside, it s worth walking around the outside on the grass over the top of the building.

Nice experience visiting both the houses.Lots of heritage and art objects kept intact.The view from the top is lovely.Very friendly staff.Also make sure to first visit the old parliament house which is in close proximity to the new building.The old building has lots of history preserved.

Why is everyone complaining about the food? its parliament house its not a restaurant.

Really easy to get to by car, parking was easy. Well worth 2 hours of your day to have a look around and explore. Spent 5 mins in the gift shop.

Pretty good place. Quite interesting seeing where the Aussie government does their job. Can get boring if you come multiple times, but overall pretty O.K experience.

My first visit to the nation's Parliament and I was super impressed and excited. Very friendly and helpful staff to guide, direct and show us around. Security checks though understandably very stringent and numerous were easy and stress free and hassle free.

Sat in for question time in the house of representatives and that was a real treat seeing the pollies and democracy at work first hand.

Lots of exhibits and displays everywhere and titbits of interesting information about Australian political history and impressive portraits of past Prime Ministers. As an architecture buff loved both the inside and outside of the beautiful and elegant Parliament building. Minimalist, simple yet so functional and efficient. A must visit for anyone coming to Canberra.

The artwork in the great hall is questionable, the tours are very informative and the staff are nice

Worth a look, I took a good fart in the hallway while hanging back behind the crowd, had to do a quick getta away due the foul odour creeping up behind me. For a moment there I thought it was a politician.

A true representation of Australian people. Representation of their goals and aspirations. An amazing example of the world-class infrastructure Australia has. Once upon a time the costliest building on the Australian soil. One can visit and explore using the free map provided inside or can join a guided tours showing you the building and giving you a historical oversight. A must see when visiting Canberra.

The Parliament Building is an awesome structure with close to 4000 rooms, great galleries of portraits of Speakers and Prime Ministers. It is situated on 33 hectares of land. Amid all its pride and grandeur, the one thing that impressed me the most was the position of Parliament building facing the Australian War Memorial..A timely reminder for our politicians both the ruling and opposition parties to make decisions and laws to protect the freedom and honour the departed martyrs sacrifice so that they didn't fight and die in vain.

Modern and interesting building. Most of the offices are not visible from the outside, as it s built into the hill. The senate and house of rep chambers are worth a look at, as well as the prime minister s portraits and the giant willow tree painting

Pretty cool symbolism of walking on the roof: the politicians are below citizens and meant to serve them. Pity the politicians forget this detail.

This is one of must-see places when you visited Canberra. It is a great place to learn about Australian politics. Moreover, you can also catch beautiful views of Canberra from its roof level.

Very nice, fantastic that it is free to the public. Plenty to see, even if you aren't interested in politics. Seen from all around Canberra and easy to get to.

My Canberran friend drove me here on 1st of May, 2018. The look and feel of the architecture was symmetrical and its marble material and tapestries made a difference. I was told that the House can also be hired as a wedding venue!

Such a nice place to visit. I was actually not expecting to like it so much at first. But everyone told me it was a must see in Canberra. The building is impressive and it s wonderful to be able to visit some parts of it. The inside is as impressive as the outside with fancy decoration and interesting information about how Australian politic works. Very nice painting of important politics are displayed. I was very happy to see the senate in real after have seen it on TV so many times. The staff was very friendly and available to ask questions. We stopped at the cafe for lunch and the food was delicious and for a really good price.
I totally recommend to visit this place which is the heart of Canberra.
