Almost nothing to see there. Except the flag. I really like Australian flag and on that hill it looks great.
It is located outside the town and on a very green area. The structure is beautiful and is a little out of the ordinary. The interior is made of marble and there is a lot of wood.
It was an interesting and pleasant visit.
Huge and spectacular building. Visible from all over town
Nice to see where decisions for Australia is taken. The Parliament House staffs are nice, even security and federal police! We went through security checkpoints without issues and kids were treated with paper arts. It s an educational place for kids and even adults.
Beam me up, Scotty. There's no intelligent life down here.
Place is good. Found security staff in bag scanning section to be rude.
I was able to get a photo chance with bill shorten.
Excellent donuts & pies. Akkermans needs more people in it, this bakery so underrated! :D
Beautiful Place, the architectural design is specular.
Very nice view, very quiet at the moment because no tourists at all. lol
very easy to park underneath the parliament house and its free up to 3 hours.
if you like bit of the history tour I am sure there are plenty to explore.
Tried to call the restaurant at parliament house to book a reservation and they are full! Jeez can't they expand the place atleast?
Simply wow !
What an informative place to visit and learn so much about Australia and Australian politics.
Anyone including tourists and non-Australians are welcomed.
Appointments are not needed simply head up and get entry after security check up. No separate entrance for tourists and politicians.
One can go to both Parliament and Senate and listen the speeches from Senators, MP, Prime Ministers etc live.
When Parliament is not in session public are allowed to inside Chambers otherwise public is allowed in the viewing decks.
Free tours are also offered but one has to sign up for the tours at reception.
There is a shop and a cafe aswell.
Parking is paid.
You can easily head up to rooftop via lifts.
Fun fact: The whole map of Australian Parliament is printed on 5$ note.
Do the Free Tour, very interesting to see where Australia has taken their political system from. Part US part UK mashed up together for Australia.
2 HOURS UNDERGROUND CARPARK! Very nice and a good tourist place to visits if there are visiting Australia. It would take at least 3 hours to visit the whole Parliament House which includes break times.
giving parliament house a bad review to absolutely OWN the government how will they recover?
It makes you proud to be a citizen of Australia. The staff hear are very much brainy and well informed, especially the older men who do the security. Okay to ask whatever you like- always helping and helping. No problem. Also relaxed because we got a smile from Pauline Hanson and she says hi to the kids, and also Tanya from Labor also said hello as she know us from school.
Very big place and a beautiful view of the city at the top of the parliament house.
Choose a good day to go into the upper and lower house for visit
place will have tight security and metal detector.
take your time and enjoy the parliment
A spectacular, architectural masterpiece unsurpassed by any other purpose built Australian dwelling. The history, craftsmanship, design and integration is world class. It s only when you visit that you can appreciate these facets that make up Parliament House, Canberra. Built with little regard to cost and using mostly Australian made products and craftsmanship. The visit was perfect, and accessibility was relatively streamlined. A total emphasis is placed on having visitors come here. We went when parliament were not sitting, so that was even more ideal. A must see.
Stunning! I saw the Senate, and we got educated about Parliament house.
We loved our free tour of Parliament House! Stephen our guide was an awesome character, great with the kids and answered every question well! Parliament House is a spectacle! What a privilege to visit the sitting rooms and feel part of the action! Thanks to all the friendly staff!
Although I still like the old Parliament House more, the new one is also a great architecture with great view at the roof top.
Listening to the debates the Senate and House of Representatives were quite fun.
Seeing where most Countrie's decisions and legislations are made is everyone's wish. It's a stunning and welcoming environment. I didn't get to see and watch for representatives debate due to covid restrictions, but you can access the room post the pandemic. That's why I gave them 4 otherwise could be 5 full stars.
The Australian Parliament is one of the must-see places in Canberra. Have a tour inside the Parliament and visit the upper and the lower houses, paintings of the politicians and influencers, hand crafts donated to the Australian Government etc.
Its really amazing place.
I loved it.
The tour guide was on point with his jokes, knowledge and the stories from the past. The security guy was just as good and friendly. Was amazing to walk through the Senate and the House of Representatives. You have to do this at least once in your life.
Also check out the souvenir shop while you are there, the staff is very engaging and informative too.
Well stocked gift shop. Beautiful displays. Brought the gin and a puzzle. Very high quality gifts
Good place to learn about the Australian Parliament, make an appointment and accompany the meeting
3 hours drive one way from Sydney. Always check timings and call their information center to ensure it is open for public.
Beautiful building and symbol of our country, if only we could fill it with competent people who have our countries best interests at heart instead of the incompetant traitors who infest it at the moment.
Interesting to visit, small line at the entrance for securities reasons, but it goes fast. Can also be busy to take the elevator to the roof. Great view.
This is an awesome place.
Every design looks great~
Visitors must come here~~~
And remember to take a photo in front of the building, the view is always brilliant there.
Great place to learn about the prime ministers of the past and political things. Free Wi-Fi, free entry and you can visit the Senate and House of Reps. during question time. There is a security line like at a border checkpoint, but it goes very quick and efficiently. Would come again.
Great place to visit. The free information tour was very informative.
it alright i wish the pollies were actually not worried about themselves but actually did something about the drought that the farmers are dealing with
While Canbarra is not the most interesting place, if you are there be sure to visit the Parliament House!
I seen today all pics Parliament Australia my dream is watching it
A malvelous place to visit. Excellent customer services for visitors.
I was very impressed by the tour and our guide Bruce. A very hazy day outside and much less haze within these hallowed halls today....
Best souvenir shop in Canberra. Very large selection of items, friendly staff and even a great cafe upstairs.
Best place to visit if you have school going kids. I really appreciate the staff and security there as they were very humble and friendly. I strongly recommend guided tour specially with "Shane" he is not only very informative but very lively tour guide. I really appreciate his immense knowledge and sense of humor especially towards kids. My 10 yr old twins really enjoyed it. You need at least 3 hours or more to enjoy the real parliament house. I know first 2 hours are free parking but don't worry about parking as it's not too much only $3.10 for next 2 hours . We decided to stay there longer than 2 hours as you hardly come such places. Once again ! Beautiful architecture with great staffing . Highly Highly and strongly recommend .
It amazing but please Scott Morrison to band tutoring in this country all the kids are getting angry
Australian Parliament, Parliament Circle, Canberra ACT. The building is fairly recent, possibly in the late 1980's, with a guided tour makes your visit memorable! The two prominent houses of The Senate or Upper House decor in red while The House of Commons portray in blue!
The walls on walkways and hallways are filled with portraits of Australian prominent Politicians and past Prime Ministers! A miniature statue of Queen Elisabeth of United Kingdom and a sceptre!! The entrance introduced you to a stairway made of marble
Very interesting and historic building. Not easy to enter. Police and security everywhere. Intimidating. Rather visit other institutions around the lake.
Highly recommend the paid tour. Amazing stories be hung the building.
Too new style, shortcomings, classical beauty, too remote
Good
-A symbol of Australia!!!
-Super friendly and knowledgeable staff.
-Queen's cafeteria's cooked meals are so good.
Birds flying high you know how I feel
Sun in the sky you know how I feel
Breeze driftin' on by you know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life for me yeah
It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me
Ouh
And I'm feeling good
Fish in the sea, you know how I feel
River running free, you know how I feel
Blossom on the tree, you know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good
Dragonfly out in the sun you know what I mean, don't you know
Butterflies all havin' fun, you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when day is done, that's what I mean
And this old world, is a new world
And a bold world for me
Stars when you shine, you know how I feel
Scent of the pine, you know how I feel
Oh freedom is mine
And I know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good
Visited this place back in 2017, Although most of the staff were extremely nice and informative, there was one of them who were a bit... "off" His name is Kevin and I won't say his last name because I don't want to ruin him, but his attitude towards me and some of the other people was not only inappropriate, but was also arrogant. I'll tell you as much as I can remember, whoever is taking the precious time to read this!
So, I got up at four in the morning for an excursion to Canberra and because of my nasty sleeping habits, I didn't get any sleep, so by the time that I got to parliament house I hadn't slept for 28 hours. He thought that I just didn't care about parliament and that I was ungrateful, which I can understand. Not everyone takes a second to look at something from a different angle.
However, his actions afterwards were disgraceful and somewhat questionable. He first targeted me, then multiple other people. He then went on with his over-ego and stated how he was "friends" with the mayor of Randwick. Although that is an impressive feat. To bring it up in a completely different topic is questionable at best.
Although this may seem personal, my calculation is that he should be 78 years of age by the end of this year, so I'm not worried about how long it takes for him to bite the dust.
My favourite part of the tour was leaving the building, and leaving that arrogant bastard to his sad and miserable fate.
Personal recommendation? Avoid this guy if you can. If you, you're destined for a great time. Remember, this is MY experience, your's will probably be better, especially if you avoid him.
This is the seat of the Australian Government. The building is modern and honestly quite strange.
Awesome being able to see how parliament works, well set up
I stood on the front balcony and watched a group of Aboriginal people protest. It was quite an experience. The venue is awesome too!
A grand city and a grand parliament. History, art, culture, planning, architecture, horticulture all brought together. Well worth a visit. Spend a day. Go to the museum too! Have a picnic at the marina. Please like my review if it was helpful.
Impressive building open for visits. We went on a Saturday so the parliament wasn't sitting but when they do there are tours to see the government in action. Architecture is impressive plus you get some of the best free views of Canberra from the roof. The staff is very friendly and welcoming as well.
Interesting , good views from top , polite security
At least l learnt something about our parliamentary system today
Quite a nice parliament and it was good in the interior.
Generally interesting. Over the top covid restrictions make a visit short and frustrating at the.moment.
Pathetic. Did not receive any free pizza with complimentary parliament cheese.
This place was huge and all staff were very friendly and plenty to see and do. Recommended for the whole family.
Good informative place. Cafe needs more vegan options. But staff were wonderful and helpful
Really cool building design, worth a look as this is where all the key decisions are made for this country! There is a road that you can either drive around to check it out however i do recommend you park and walk around so you can get a better look. The view is awesome too!
This place is awesome. One of the best places to visit in Canberra.
Has a huge collection about the Australian political history, it was an eye opening to personally sit in the house of Senate and House of Representatives. It's a must if you are into politics.
The Parliament of Commonwealth of Australia, variously referred to as the Australian Parliament, the Commonwealth Parliament or the Federal Parliament, is the legislative branch of the government of Australia.
The current Parliament is the 45th Australian Parliament. The most recent federal election was held on 2 July 2016.
Excellent building and informative tour by Daffyd. Thank you
It's worthwhile to do the free tour. The paid tour possibly not so much, because they aren't allowed to take you everywhere anyway, and you're only allowed to photograph the areas that are covered by the free tour. Try to go on a weekend if you want free parking. I loved the tapestry, which is accessible without any tour.
The staff were very helpful. The self guide tour only cover the general area, great painting for all PM and a bit of history. Better book the afternoon Q+A tour in advance then you can see the main seats. Due to the COVID you can t do walk in. Cafeteria is good. Very nice coffee.
Impressive building, been almost 15 years since I've been inside it. would love to go back inside next I'm in Canberra.
Fascinating place to visit especially after seeing the Old Parliament House and comparing them. Very restricted on what you can see for obvious reasons but worth a visit
