The Parliament is one of the best places visited in Canberra. The security check was easy and free parking for couple of hours. The staff were very nice to talk to. The coffee in the Cafe was the best we have had among the most places we had visited. Overall it was an awesome visit. This was our first visit and we were very happy.
I worked there as a cleaner around December 2016, at that time I had no idea that I was on surveillance. Defamation tactics were used on me, so i started to research and found Gangstalking and Targeted Individuals on Google. It went on for a week at the workplace which led to me leaving there, the people that use this tactics are trained on the field of counter intelligence and is used on mostly activists. It is secretly done to people that is unaware of the program and is usually surveilled for a year. I migrated to the country without a smear of criminal record, can't believe that this will happen to me on I thought was the safest country to stay in and retire someday.
Great attraction scenery that embedded the true Australia culture and values.
Such an amazing place to visit. The architecture of the building is fantastic and it's a privilege to be able to walk the same corridors that our politicians do. There's plenty to do and see and if you have any affinity for Australia either as a citizen or a visitor you need to visit Parliament House if you're in Canberra.
The new Australian parliament building, modern, on a very wide and high security campus
Good way to spend an hour or two here. The rooftop is accessible but half of the area was closed for construction when I was there. Staffs are very friendly.
I'm a bit of a political animal, and so loved every second of this tour. Also, as my wife is foreign, it was a good introduction for her to learn about how the country is run. The tours through the house are definitely worth it. Access is available to the roof also. There are portraits of all the PMs. Don't miss the timeline between the front of the building to the rear. It's really quite an impressive building, but I'd bet we'll need something even bigger within the next 50 years or so. Please note, there's an intensive, airport-style security screening on entry (as there should be) so keep that in mind if you plan to bring anything metal. And plan accordingly as the entry queues can get long.
The building is beautifully designed and a joy to walk through.
Australia's only living dinosaur museum. A must see!
Impressive, clean & modern! Nice view from the parliament
Great experience! Once in a lifetime oppurtunity to see wonders of Australia.
Spent all day here the all area tour is well worth it.
Must see site when in Canberra. It attracts tourists from across the world. The members of parliament only show up when there is some vote that needs to take place. Other times its open to the public and it's free. They have a cafe in there where food is alright; nothing excellent. Make sure to go to the roof as well.
We paid the extra dosh for the behind scenes tour which was well worth it.
They have tours which are ok. On sitting days you can get a seat in the public gallery which is ok. The gift shop is really poor. There is a coffee shop there. You have to go through a security screening so bring your card if you have a pacemaker as you will need it. The inside of here looks great but the place I most enjoyed was the painting of former prime ministers.
The general workers who interact with the visitors are very friendly and welcoming. I felt very happy from their engagement. The security are pretty friendly, also, but you can tell they get bored with their jobs, which is relieving.
There is so much national history here. It's worth dedicating several hours here to learn it all, while ensuring to attend Question Time on a sitting day.
I am however VERY disappointed that visitors are charged parking fees. For a place which is meant to welcome visitors, it's a solid shame that visitors beyond 50 kilometres cannot apply for an exemption. Such a shame to have a profligate waste of valuable disposable income.
This is no longer a place which respects the will of the majority, nor truly serves the people for the people, but a place in which Marxism is beginning to reign. A place where special interest groups with un-Australian agendas appear to now have the strongest voices.
The good Representatives are now a minority. Those good ones, who are there to try and make Australia a great place again, are now fighting a losing battle with those who have only their self interests at heart.
A pleasant visit.
Like the city of Canberra itself, the architecture is quite interesting here.
Don t miss the view on the rooftop (you ve to take an elevator to get there) which is closing a bit earlier than the building.
Staff has been quite friendly.
I missed it but next time i would definitely do the guided tour which may bring some good informations (9.30am, 11.00am, 1.00pm, 2.00pm and 3.30pm)
Cool building, but the people that work here don't really know how to get anything done.
I dream to live the rest of my life in this beautiful country
Very nice building. Must see for locals and tourists of Canberra. Should go when they have an open day. It's rare they do these events.
It's a shame Canberra gets its reputation from the politics that goes on in the building. Everything about this place is amazing, and should always be one of the places people visit when in the city. The staff of all levels are fantastic and should be commended on their professionalism.
Truly extraordinary. Art + Architecture + symbolism ... and that's just the building
So worth going
some of home alone 2: lost in new york was filmed here
Michael, the tour guide with Danish background, who gave us a tour today (27/01/2020 @ 9.30am) was by far the funniest tour guide at the Parliament House Michael presented typically boring topics (politics) in an entertaining way and shared many insider jokes with us which made our time at the PH memorable. Overall, we really enjoyed his fun personality and the way he engaged and interacted with the group Thank you Michael, keep up the good work!
Very kool design. Guided tour was very good. Lots of INFO.
A very good experience. Guided tours are aimed more at local young pupils, not tourists, but are worthwhile nevertheless. Entry provides wide access to explore. Fantastic artwork on display, and a copy of the Magna Carta. Photography permitted. Full shop with walls of books and tasteful souvenirs.
Really nice inside and out, it is really good that you can visit the chambers when they are empty (and watch question times on sitting days). A lot bigger than expected.
Amazing experience. With great cafes and the opportunity to learn about Australia s parliament.
A must visit in canberra, free guided tours were very good and informative
A remarkable experience, even by the high standards set by Canberra. The new Parliament House, once you get through the annoying but necessary security scans, is is something of an art gallery as well as being the Australian seat of government. Even if the Parliament is not sitting, the visit is worthwhile...even just to visit the excellent cafe with its sweeping views along the axis across the lake to the War Memorial and the cone of Mount Ainslie.
Architecture is okay but staff aren't up to scratch for their salaries
I liked the building architecture. The marble foyer is symbolic and evokes Australian nature and culture. The tour guide was really a nice guy with an advanced ability to illustrate the information smoothly and he was good with the kids with nice sense of humour. I liked the photo of the angry ducks :)
Beautiful, both modern and traditional. Prime location...
Beautiful building (prefer Australian parliament house than my home country's one).
Tour guide was excellent. Her English was very easy to listening for foreigners like me. I can't believe such guide is for free!!
To get the most out of your visit, it's essential to take a tour. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and present very well (even if the group is large). They'll explain much of the symbolism, interesting facts and aspects of procedure. I've done the tour a couple of times with different people and learnt something new each time. Also, the tour is free. The only downside is that depending on when you visit, parking could be an issue. So go during a weekend or a week when Parliament isn't sitting.
i have never been there but, i will come there at november because im going there for a camp!!!
Inside the billions is boring but the outside it looks nice that all, outside good for the picture taken.
i love you mr. parliament notice me. i want your artwork in My home . i was in Parliament and no one voted for me that makes me sad :(
Worth at least visiting once. The design of the area around and leading up to the Parliament House is great aesthetically.
Free public access and very educational.
Worth a visit for sure, we were short on time so called in very quickly. A short security check on entry. Free entry. Good views on the roof over the city
Didn't think we will enjoy this tour as we did. The guide was awesome and funny. It's totally free, go and see.
Great place to visit. Good free car parking in underground car park. Nice foods in parliament cafe.
Great experience everyone should see where our great country is run from.
Informative free guided tour should be tried out if you are a person dwelling in Australia or interested in doing so
Great place to visit ,do not miss the coffee shop here.....great coffee and carrot cake was so delicious...food is reasonable price .
Great to see. A lot of thought went into this building. Do a tour and learn all about it.
Australia at a glance. Very very informative and a great memory to have for a lifetime.
Fascinating to see the workings of Parliament. We didn't take the free tour but it would be a great way to see the place. It's accessible by a taxi, uber, bus or the cultural loop bus. Take a moment to check out the Parliament Shop - great staff and wonderful souvenirs. If you have children or grandchildren, they have a Future PM t-shirt that is great. It opens about 9 and Question time is at 2 on days that Parliament is sitting but you have to call and book.
An Australian parliament house.....it s really beautiful & historical Palace,
Great landmark of Australian democracy. A must visit place for all Australians and tourists who are interested in knowing how Australian democracy works. A great learning experience for kids especially. Considering so many countries won't even allow common public near their parliaments, tourists would also enjoy this. Highly recommended to allocate atleast half-day visit to enjoy and learn.
Very beautiful place... Couldn't go inside due to Covid. Need to book prior to visit
Thank you for being a part of our Mix 106.3 Best Day Ever! We had a great time, we enjoyed our behind the scenes look at Parliament House, meeting Executive Chef David and his team was a fantastic insight to some of the pressures faced by staff in the kitchens when preparing for big events. We enjoyed all the special places we got to see, and the stories we heard. The staff in the restaurant were fantastic and the food was delicious! Thank you for donating your time and services to giving us such a great experience! To Seth, double doors will always hold a special place in our hearts! Thank you!
The modern architecture fully represents both the beauty and history of our truly wonderful country.
The LNP have turned the place into a house of disrepute....
Question time can get quite entertaining at times and the tours are great
Interesting place where you can get a good idea of how democracy works in Australia. You can also take a look inside.
To make this review more informative, I have searched for additional details in regards with this marvelous establishment. The building is a graceful and deeply symbolic piece of architecture. Sitting atop Capital Hill, it is crossed by two axes, north south and east west, representing the historical progression and legislative progression of the Australian democracy respectively. The place offers visitors a wide assortment of views to be seen, whether or not the politicians are haranguing each other in the chambers.
You've gotta do it at least once in your life time.
malcolm turnbull ghee u da man thank you for being the prime minister of australia hope we can learn from u ghee much respect peace
Take the guided tour! so much you learn from it. Amazing experience!!! And then go visit the old parliment, sensational.
The place is awesome, the elected officials though need to be all thrown out.
Home of Democracy in this country! Very busy on sitting days and would recommend a behind the scenes tour if you have time! You'll never believe who you might bump into in the halls of this Architectural masterpiece. If you're visiting Canberra, you'd be silly to not stop and have a look inside!
This grand building houses our politicians - you can love them, hate them or ignore them, but you have to admire this building - it's many spaces are accessible, beautiful and even inspiring and last time I was there you could walk and roll on the grass on the roof - that was fun to do and very Australian.
Amazing building! I took my oarents from overseas and they were in awe
I visited Parliament House a couple of times and never get bored of it! I did the tour a few years ago and learned many interesting facts about it and about Australian politics. The staff was super friendly and helpful and always ready to answer any question. What I really love about this place is visiting it at night because the view in incredible. While I was taking pictures of it at night, an AFP officer came to me to see them and complimented me for how they looked like!
