Magnificent building and history, well worth the visit. Security will slow things a little but worth it.
Magnificent building and history, well worth the visit. Security will slow things a little but worth it.
I was left waiting outside for hours before they finally got to me
What a beautiful place and buildings worth to visit with fool proof security
It's where the nearest public library is located. It took me along time to find out where it was but when I did it was a pleasant surprise that it was in the NT parliament building. Beautiful historic building with a grandure that is amplified by the high ceilings. You will need to go through a security scanner so no weapons please:p
Beautifully constructed edifice, very well planned and built. You can enter and see the whole place. Extremely welcoming staff. A great experience.
Interesting to see where our politicians are in action.
I went here for a nice Aussie meal, but all I got served was Chinese food, I tried to order a drink and the waiter only spoke Cantonese... I went to find an Aussie flag but all I saw was Chinese flags... Very disappointed
We enjoyed the tour of Parliament House, having been before but needing to refresh our knowledge. Our tour was disrupted by a screaming child (consider others if you bring underage children on tour) but our guide managed to rise above the noise.
When I went here, I was approached by Scott Morrison who immediately started touching me. It wasn't a very pleasant experience.
Had a fantastic tour of parliament house a few weeks ago, and it is a fantastic experience. Beautiful visit.
The tour guide was really friendly and answered all of our group's questions.
Pre booked a tour for 10am . The guide was very informative. On how and why it was built and where building products came from. Tour was lucky to go for 15/ 20 mins? Thought it could of gone longer and seen more? Didn't know about the free parking?
Parliament House has been re-opened for public on July 4th, 2020.
Visitors have to book the tickets in advance as there are guest limits each day due to Covid-19 restrictions. It is recommended to reserve the ticket early as the tickets sold out rapidly.
As part of the Covid-19 restrictions, you have to follow the guided tour. The good news is it's free, yet the bad news is you will not be able to roam around in certain areas you are interested in as the tour will be completed within 30 minutes.
Parliament building is an amazing piece if construction. Was a delight touring. Awesome place to take pictures.
Australia be like
ps. Why does Old Parliament have more reviews, like 3x more. Even supermarkets in Kazakhstan have more reviews then the actual Parliament house.
Beautiful view of Canberra from the top of the parliament and the flag on there is really big. Good coffee from the Cafe there.
Bit hard to find parking for visitors although nice to see how our bills are passed
Best thing about Parliament house is, access for general public and tourists. View from top to the old Parliament house is awesome.
never seen a question time or debates. reading through history of prime ministers and photographs are very interesting.
I was surprised at the great gift shop inside Parliament House. Extensive range of Australian made gifts, souvenirs, jewellery, home wares etc. plus locally made products. Also political themed gifts and books on Prime Ministers and Australian history.
I found their prices very reasonable and if you do a paid tour of Parliament House you get a discount.
Have visited inside in the 90s. Been driven around it since then. It's time for me to go for a follow up visit.
What a special feeling being and seeing this for the first time!
Wasn't open for public but we were aloud to snap some pics outside
Loved the interior design of the Parliament and the leaves of the American sweetgum Trees surrounded.
We drove twice around the Parliament-beautiful traffic free road.
it's really quiet and calm if you just take a walk inside. good way to spend about 45 minutes. friendly staff as well
Can go shopping ~ place big ~
The roof is beautiful~ the wind is a bit big
If you haven't visited before, do a guided tour as the information will provide you so much more of an understanding, beyond the walls of this impressive structure. don't forget to get up to the top level lawns for great views of the immediate area.
A beautiful building with a wonderful history. Definitely the most impressive parliament building I've ever seen. The free guided tours are definitely worthwhile.
I am writing this for tourism prospect, not political. It is a great place to visit, must see in canberra, not to miss in Australia. Staff are friendly, parking available, secured and peaceful. Loved it.
A must visit when you are in Canberra !! a lot of historical information about the law making process and the previous Prime Ministers, didnt see Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard in the list, may be it is not updated with the latest information or I missed it.
Pretty interesting
Takes a while to do the whole place
The special tours allow a bit more behind the scenes access
The truth set me free but I'm sure it won't do the same for you Your onarable member Mr .GA. Clark .
Didn't he ever get charged over the 4million ecstasy tablets at Sydney airport
What a beautiful, awesome place. Loved walking around here and seeing it's history.
Not impressed! 150 supposedly mature adults under some grandiose delusion of their own self-importance, sitting round a beautifully decorated, green room arguing like a bunch of five-year-olds over whether two blokes or two sheilas should be able to marry each other. All while they give each other regular pay rises and exorbitant pensions. You want to charge me $122m for what? Won't be back.
The "House" as it is otherwise known is a vast building. Although you may not know it as most of the indoors is closed off and not publicly accessible. There is a small theatre which replays the building of the House from the 1980s. There is a lift to the roof where you can enjoy the views although with added security you can not see as much. There are nice walkways around the perimeter of the parliament where on a sitting day you can see the comcars parked and parliamentarians coming and going.
We were very impressed, also because you can look around here quite freely. That would not be possible in the Bundestag.
The Australian Parliament Building has the House of Lords and the House of Commons, where 226 members of the Congress represent the people of Australia and debate the proposed laws and public policies intensely. Here you can learn about the work of Parliament. On the roof of the Capitol, you can overlook the most beautiful scenery in Canberra. The parliament hall is located in the center of the building, directly under the flagpole. The walls of the hall are adorned with portraits of the Queen, successive Governors, Prime Ministers, and Speakers of the House of Lords and the House of Commons. Here you can also find information about any member of Parliament. There is a tapestry in the auditorium, which was completed by 13 weavers over two years. , One of the largest tapestries in the world, is spectacular. In the front hall of the building, there is a large ceremonial pool, in the middle of which is a pattern of granite pieces inlaid with the work of the indigenous artist "The Dream of Opossum and Wallabies".
It is quite beutful and knowledge giving, power House of australia.people of Australia is very lucky in this world to get so much right and importance .
The guide is an old gentleman with all white hair, but his face is ruddy, and his speech is full of energy. He led us to visit the foyer, the green House of Representatives, and the red Senate, while narrating the history and significance of the Capitol. The story is interesting, but the English level is not yet ah~
After the tour, we walked into the Great Hall, stood in front of the giant weaving painting, and felt the atmosphere, ha; democracy is not easy to come by, and I hope we will never turn back.
In order to catch the free guided tour upon arrival, I didn t have time to go around it again. When we left, we discovered the magnificence of the Capitol. We stood on the front gate square. The top of the Capitol was a spire, as if we were going into the sky.
Daily tours give a great insight into how Parliament House works. Informative guides present interesting history and facts suitable 8 to 80 year olds. 2hr free parking available
Best place in canberra. Must see during your visit there.
a must do when you are in canberra, free wifi, no entry fee,
Great place and great view.
Security checks are required before entering Parliament House.
It helps to understand the history Australia.
What would I do when I have visitors from interstate without good ol cap-hill lol
5 stars just for the walk outside the parliament house.
Look, i must admit i didnt take a tour just because i know noelse in the group would have enjoyed it.
But we all loved the walk outside and enjoyed sitting outside on green grass and taking a nap.
The guided tours here are amazing. Every minute spent here is worth it.
Been there once , be definantly going again.. take my shoes off at the door. Give em to the first person who wouldnt be able to walk a mile in them.
The unique design, its is great artworks which combine local aboriginal arts and modern one
Watch the video first (showing on the hour at viewing room 1 on the first floor). Though it's quite long (about 55 min), it really helps the visitors to understand the history of the marvellous building and how the different structures and furniture are made.
Dear australia. I will never visit you because of your transit visa regulations. They cost me a lot of money. Please grow up.
It looks big and important. I was just wondering around the gardens and paths, very pleasant and well maintained.
Amazing place, the tour is a must. Paintings and everything is beautiful. The roof is the best :)
It's pretty difficult to give any negative feedback when so much is offered by this place at absolutely no cost. The facade is impressive, the security and tour guides are welcoming and many of the more interesting rooms in the building are open to the public. The artwork that this building boasts is a reason to come in itself and the free tour is worth going to. I liked the fact that the tour's content had a balance between the symbolism and the architecture in the building as well as the way our parliamentary system works. The tour guides seem genuinely happy to be giving the tours and even better is the fact that you can catch an elevator up to the roof to see the colossal flag in all its glory in addition to the panoramic views of Canberra. The city isn't as big as the nearby state capitals but the planned layout and many avenues make it a beautiful place to see. The wide ceremonial avenue connecting parliament house to the old parliament house, the lake and the national war memorial (another place worth a visit) looks splendid.
Really interesting. Went on a tour and got to see the politicians have meeting from up top. The lego version of the building.
Australia's authority, simple but impressive design; a place you should visit. Not yet here, yet to Canberra
Probably the best looking Parliament house in the world! The design is truly a marvel.
A must see. Obviously. Great for the kids but you must do the tour. Very informative. The roof is awesome.
We did the guided tour and it was very good. If you come to Canberra to see the cultural sites this is a must.
alrigit the tours were cool but the people inside are not PS. scomo is actually very mean
it's great to be able to enjoy the panoramic view from the terrace!
everything is open to the public, free of charge!
