Went recently for the free exhibition: screen world and was surprised how big the area was. My kids loved the digital game section. Lots of family on a Sunday but plenty of area to rest. A great place to go without having to pay for fun and learning.

Absolutely awesome space filled with activities for all ages. It s filled to the brim with all forms of rotating and permanent exhibitions and has tons of interactive games. It also has many event spaces and a gift shop (albeit a little pricey).

Noteworthy institution? I think not. ACMI has disappeared up it's own self importance. FOH staff are good but, technically, the Cinema side is leaving a lot to be desired. Maybe time for a new broom?

Awesome place to visit if you are in Melbourne super easy to get to and it's free for some of the exhibitions. Had a great time looking at the video game exhibition that was set up, they had a lot of interactive pieces there.

We stepped into Wonderland and enjoyed the adventures.
We loved the interactive features and the Mad Hatter's Party presentation.
Great display of Lewis Carroll's (Dodgson) photography & Alice in Wonderland films though the ages.

As another free attraction in Melbourne, it is perfect for locals and visitors to the area to enjoy all it has to offer. Showcasing TV and film history along with video games and much more. Seeing an Oscar up close was a highlight along with the many interactive exhibits. Will be visiting again.

Stopped by on our way to NGV and ended up spending a few hours here! The kids will love all the interactive exhibitions and there's plenty for adults as well. Will definitely visit again next time in Melbourne

Alice in Wonderland exhibition was nice and fun, but a bit small and crowded with a waiting line for the entrance (even though it was booked for a specific time) and for the tea room visual display.
Nice interactive stations made the experience more unique, albeit not very sophisticated.

An amazing and unique cultural experience which will not disappoint with amazing galleries and special events. The Alice in Wonderland show was entertaining and formative with staff helpful and friendly. The David Bowie show was truly mind blowing. A d thanks ACMI for being a film festival venue!

Super interesting tourist spot to visit. I skipped over most of the Australian the history as that didn't interest me so much but it was really well presented and very interesting for some I'm sure. The interactive zone was the highlight with lots of cool media and technology based activities. You can enter a booth and film your own mini matrix style 360 scene, star in a stop motion animation, and play around with an interactive projection. Perfect spot if your tourist activities are interrupted by a bit of Melbourne rain.

I went to see two separate yet equally fabulous photograhic exhibitions Olympia & Bleached Gothic at Fed Square . On until late March. Courtesy of NGV.Tucked in on one end of the complex with entry via the atrium. Well worth the effort to locate.

Wonderland exhibition was great, highly recommend. Only thing I would say is how unfair it is that a small backpack have to be put in a cloak room yet women with bags as big as brief case in. Staff need to either not allow any bags in or just let all bags in.

The kids and I had a good day out here, we spent a fair amount of time exploring and trying the exhibits, there are some great interactive stuff for the kids to enjoy and to see the general exhibit it's free :D
What a great chance tor the kids to explore :)

ACMI is a wonderful interactive centre fit for all ages.

For the adults, you get to go through the history of media and how it has evolved and how it can still continue to change.

For the teenagers or young adults, I highly recommend you go into the 'sensation' section of the ACMI exhibition as there are a lot of fun activities to do there. You get to make shadow images of yourself, sound effects of movie screens and many more!

This is also great for young child as there are plenty of games for them to play (Get for the parents who want to just kill some time in the free at zero cost!)

Australian Center for the Moving Image or ACMI is one for the free museums located at the Federation Square, it is also unique as a very rare kind of museum devoted to moving images. There was a virtual reality exhibit which we were able to try when we visited and it was really awesome, but it is recommended for kids ten years and older. Their museum shop has a nice and diverse collections of films and related memorabilia.

Went to see "The Clock". The show was great... but the seating was awful. No head or neck support. Didn't stay as long as I would've liked. A brilliant idea let down by poor planning & design

Fun place! If you get there early, you have easy access to all the interactive exhibits and games without any lines. It's not a very large museum but definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

We spent a full day here. The guided tours are very worthwhile. The cafe is a bit expensive but the food is delicious. Unfortunately they don't have decaf coffee. The many areas are all very interesting. Don't miss the gemstones!

There is something for everyone here. Many interactive exhibits to check out!
The free exhibitions are fantastic with a new VR experience added recently.

Visited for the first time to see the Alice in Wonderland exhibition. They did a very good job making it interactive and showing different versions of Alice through history. If all their exhibits have the same effort we will have to come back and see them.

Really cool downstairs events space with an awesome light show with lasers and some very good djs. The drinks were a little expensive but this is to be expected from such a large place so close to the city centre. Really close to Flinders Street.

Probably my best museum experience ever, loved the video games and movies, but my best part was the exhibition called the clock (or something like that). It was this amazing montage of clocks in movies and the scenes they appear in, and the time showed on the clocks is exactly the same as the current time, which is cool. 10/10 experience, and it's free!

There's a lot on offer here, including a games section, a surprisingly interesting interactive section, and of course an overview of the history of film and television.
The Clock installation was incredible, definitely worth seeing whilst it's on.

I recently visited ACMI for their Alice in Wonderland exhibition. Such an amazing experience! They were very thorough with their information but also managed to ensure that it was interactive and entertaining.

Its nice to know how movie industry started, to where it is now. Displayed here were the vintage equipments and things used from earlier times of making moving images up to computer age. A really blast from the past!

Amazing place to spend an hour or so out of the sun. It's my favourite place to spend any free time I have that is indoors and not a bar, however their is a bar onsite as well. Free entry and perfect for families and children

Stumbled upon this looking for some respite from the sun and was amazed at what was on offer. I have to admit I'm a film buff so it was exactly a place to my tastes. Lots of information to absorb in world class facilities. Cool and informative exhibitions and installations. Definitely will visit more frequently on my trips to Melbourne. Highly recommend!

Really interesting and unique place to visit for free. Cool building, friendly staff, and varied content. Saw the Code Breakers exhibit about Australian and New Zealand women in video games; informative perspectives from the women and good mix of recent and upcoming games to play. Also enjoyable to see an equal platform given to an often misrepresented or maligned demographic in the field. Haven't seen a paid exhibit here, but would imagine the quality is consistent with the rest of the venue.

Unexpectedly excellent. I loved all the old computers and video games. The virtual reality stories were engaging. I thought the Alice in wonderland section might be overpriced but it was excellent and worth the money.

A must visit place for movie buffs. Museum also gives idea on the evolution of cinema and technology over time. There will be few temporary exhibitions and one permanent. The Matrix camera activity is worth trying.

Awesome place! Great variety of films and film festivals. Recently saw Liars and Wonderland After Dark. Whilst the gig and exhibition were good, the drinks were weak, there was barely any variety, and the service was sub-par. Next time I might drink elsewhere first.

A fun place for moving pictures enthusiasts. There is a trove of knowledge told through engaging exhibits as well as interactive spaces for the young ones. The ambitious scope of the museum spans from the early days of motion pictures to the present day advances of graphics in computer games. Great for people who have an appreciation for the technical aspects of film making.
