A great FREE museum with a ton of things to do. Is it possible to play video games, watch some movies or simply enjoy the story of the Cinema trough the last century. There is also a VR experience, which is still free and is very entertaining! The staff is also very polite, and considering that all the experience is for free is definitely a place to visit while being here in Melbourne.

ACMI is a great space for families to explore. Exhibitions are fantastic especially the Wallace and Gromit with claymation. Great wheelchair access throughout with fantastic cafe for lunch. Parking available or easily accessible from Flinders Street station.

I love this place. The free areas rarely change but I enjoy revisiting many of the parts. As with free museums there are usually a few things that aren't working or working as well as they should. The staff are are helpful and often have a wealth of knowledge or know who to direct you to. The travelling exhibits are varying in quality but more due to their nature not what the acmi does with them. The curators always so an amazing job in my opinion. With some areas and exhibitions accessibility is either not obvious or a bit difficult. A lovely part of fed square to visit.

This place is free, which is why this gets 5 stars instead of 4. That said, you get a lot for something that's free! I only wish we got the chance to use the VR headsets. It's well worth checking this place our n any situation.

I really enjoy every visit to ACMI. Usually come for the visiting exhibitions, but their permanent Screen World exhibit is always good fun with lots of interactive installations (also they have a Zoetrope with characters from the Australian produced Ty the Tasmanian Tiger game series which was cool).

Their gallery room downstairs is a great space for the paid exhibitions and they always have related podcasts/additional info that you can download from their site to listen to during or after. They also have free wifi throughout their exhibition spaces.

The digital cinemas upstairs have been very good when I have visited them and they always have an interesting program related to their exhibitions. I've also attended a number of talks/presentations in these cinemas and they work well as they are not overly massive.

If you're into film, media and gaming then check out the ACMI. It is a small musuem which is cool and dark inside. They have small exhibits from films that have an Australian connection such as Mad Max, The Piano and Elizabeth II. They have art installations alongside all of this. It is worth the visit if you have kids, or are a big kid and are into games. They have a variety of Xbox consoles, and PCs running a wide variety of games. It's free entry, and is worth a look as they have Care Blanchets Oscar statue. Was slightly smaller than expected. You're done looking around in about 20 minutes.

The place isn't just a centre for TV and other media but also where one can just relax and have breakfast or coffee and just rest. This wholesome experience elevates visiting ACMI a great experience.

Lovely exhibits and child friendly environment. Plenty of activities and games for all ages. Free entry and friendly service. Good choice for school holidays and they have a Wizard of Oz exhibit going on currently.

This is the absolute best place to take visitors to Melbourne! Great mix of history and entertainment! They have so much stuff that you can spent a couple hours. I really like the awesome/cringy commercials from the 70s!

Great wallace and grommit exhibition, very informative and a great insight into what is a childhood love of mine, took me back a few years and was good to see how everything started for Aardman

So much going on here! We caught the Wonderland exhibit, which was great. The Screenworld exhibit is also great for both children and nostalgic adults. Lots of interactive and hands on things to play with.

High quality international films and great exhibitions. We saw two wonderful movies there, "Tokyo story" and "Beast" both in October 2016. Right on Federation square where numerous nice outdoor cafes locate as well as one more very interesting and quite artistic venue (Ian Potter) deserves your time.

Had an amazing experience at ACMI when I visited for the wonderland exhibition - which is a must see!. Staff were wonderful and they have an excellent interactive section for those who like to get involved. This is the second time I've visited the ACMI in Melbourne and I would definitely see what's on next time I'm there.
