Fabulous stay in a special Castle. Wonderful team who obviously enjoy their work. Excellent rooms with every amenity. Make sure to enjoy the spa, horseback riding and of course the many dining options. A special place with special people.

You have to pay 10 euros per person if you want to wander around (if you don t stay at the hotel),but wait until around 7pm when the porter has left. You can go in for free.

It is a wonderful castle, with a wonderful gardens. If you want to complete the experience you can book a table for a traditional Afternoon Tea in an amazing room inside the castle. The service is excellent and the Tea and swandwiches, scones and pastries are delightful.

What can be said about Ashford Castle that hasn't already been said....it's 5 stars for a reason. We love the setting, the accommodations, the incredible personalized service, George V, afternoon tea, Lough Corrie, the walk to Cong....even if you only do it once, treat yourself to a stay at Ashford Castle.

This is one of Ireland s iconic properties with service to match. The prices are very expensive, but they run off season rates that are better. The food is OK and really the only aspect that is not stellar. If I could rate the food, it would be three stars.

What an amazing place! They were very strict about who could go in the castle, but we were able to walk the grounds as much as we wanted. We went for afternoon tea - and we had a fabulous time!

They wont allow you to go in and have a coffee.
Unless you have a room the guard wont let you in, which is ok I guess... but we drove for hours and wanted to have a coffee there as a pit stop.

Ashford Castle stole our hearts! The castle itself is expertly decorated...from the lit fireplaces to the fresh flowers, grandiose chandeliers, and perfectly matching wallpaper and furniture. Every corner and hallway was worth exploring. We loved the billiards room and cigar terrace - which was adorned with wool blankets, leather couches, and lamps. The breakfast was decadent, in fact...the onsite food throughout our stay was nothing short of impressive. The grounds and gardens are perfectly maintained and we most enjoyed the clay pigeon shooting, spa, and relaxation pool (although I wish we had time to do more activities). The staff were incredibly helpful and kind, I found myself wanting to hug them upon our departure. Thank you for everything - we can't WAIT to come back!

Fantastic venue, rich history, 5* service from every member of staff I encountered, well equipped spa, well kept grounds, plenty to do and see, cocktails were delicious....... I could go on but I think you get it, no request too big or too small at this place, I will be returning!

We went here as a special treat for our 30th wedding anniversary and it certainly did us proud. It really is something special and you just have to say "to hell with the cost" because it costs a bomb but it really is money well spent. It's a fabulous building, with fabulous staff, great food and top class service. There are casual options for dining, along with the main restaurant which is very formal and very special, even breakfast here is an event.
The grounds and surrounding area are beautiful and you can go for a walk with the resident wolfhounds!

Ashford Castle with its exquisite interiors, delicious afternoon tea, passionate team, immaculately maintained Victorian gardens. Every detail in its place. We have booked an afternoon tea and a man at the gate welcomed us and gave direccions where to go. Parked further castle, but have been offered a lift to castle which was 5 min walk only. Gardens so well kept, perfection is a word for the experience. Inside the castle you feel like you have been transfered to other era. Our afternoon tea with champagne tasting was an experience we will never forget. I have ordered strawberry flawour tea, it was the best tea I ever had with real strawberry flawour and taste. Scones, desserts and sandwitches were delicious and made from fresh, best quality products. Service was so good it is hard to explain, so nice and helpful. Champagne tasting experience is a must, three samples for 31 only. Two samples were served by a person who knows etiquet of champagne, but one was served by a person who struggled with it, he didn't have right angle of the glass. We got top up of tea and offered to top up sandwitches if we wanted. Really worth to visit, as the experience is the best ever. Oh and we got a little gift, complimentary box with chocolate inside.

I can't say enough about this place. It's beautiful and historic. The grounds are huge with lots of interesting things to do. Boating, riding, falconing. Really, how many places have falconing? This is also located in a quaint village called Cong which is where the Quiet Man was filmed (you know, John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara). The countryside is gorgeous and it's not always raining. Even if it is you will still be fascinated with the inside of this place. Antiques, fine dining and an extensive wine cellar (tastings start at 50 Euro) Yes, this place is expensive but if you can afford one night it will be worth it. That's as long as I could stay but I'm glad I did. Go and pretend you're rich for a day. Your worth it.

Was here for lunch in the castle by the windows. A great place to come to for special occasions. Had fish chips and drinks. And we were surprised by a little cake saying happy anniversary on it for us. Staff were great. Expensive place but worth the experience. After lunch we went for a walk around the castle and that was nice. Lovely historical place.

Stunning castle and grounds with impecable service. Top notch staff that are all extremely friendly, never met anyone without a smile. The falconry was a fantastic experience with such beautiful birds. Absolutely loved everything about the stay.

The place and the rooms are really amazing and the experience is absolutely great. The bad thing is the food: unfortunately the quality is really low and the price is absolutely high for no value at all. It is recommendable to have meals outside the castle if possible. I suggest everybody to ask the price before you go and have something otherwise you will be surprised about the bill

I'd rate more than excellent if I could. The service was incredible, the rooms wonderful and the grounds impressive and well maintained. Service was seamless and unobtrusive from luggage transfer to check in and out. The hotel has kept to the castle theme. The resident rooms are individually decorated with modern amenities.

We had dinner in the George V dinner room. The food and service was excellent. We would have liked to try the Dungeon (traditional Irish food) but unfortunately was fully booked.

We didn't have time to try the falconry however we've heard from family that it is a wonderful experience.

The village of Cong (Quiet Man fame) is just a short and beautiful walk away. We enjoyed the walk along the river and woods.

There are not enough stars to give. Every other beautiful hotel we have stayed in pales by comparison. The staff's attention to detail and pristine service is what sets Ashford Castle apart! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

My Lords and Ladies, I declare Ashford Castle is an incredible and amazingly beautiful place. From the very moment you arrive here you are given a royal, 5 star, triple A rated treatment! The castle itself is exquisite and full of authentic furnishings and antiques and interesting features. The service was impeccable and the room was divine. The bed was fit for a queen (or king if you willl) and so comfortable. The food was well thought out, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The grounds are beautiful, with extraordinary views and some very interesting and unique flora and fauna. Everywhere I went on the grounds made me daydream about what it must have been like to be there throughout its history. I wish we could have stayed there for a week. Not only would I highly recommend this Castle, I think you should put it very high up on your bucket list!!
