I've worked at Serenity Hospice & Palliative Care ...
I've worked at Serenity Hospice & Palliative Care for a little over 4 years as a Bereavement Coordinator. I started with Serenity as a volunteer in the Bereavement Department. It was there that I found a passion for hospice and for the elderly. I didn't know it yet, but hospice was to become a permanent fixture in my life.
I've met some amazingly talented and supportive people while working in this line of work. I can honestly say I work side by side with some of the best social workers, nurses, chaplains, doctors, CNA's, and office staff that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I see them do amazing things for patients and families on a daily basis.
We are a team here, a real family. I like that I can depend on my co-workers to help me if I need an ear or a hand. I also like that everyone is willing to help when it is needed.
I'm stationed at the Central IPU in Phoenix and it's such an incredible environment to work in. Being able to be near patients and families as well as staff in a beautiful building makes coming to work everyday an easy task.
I've advanced my skills so much since working here. It is without a doubt one of those jobs where you learn something new everyday. Our CEO's willingness to let me do community outreach has allowed me pursue my passion for Alzheimer's research and education as well as reaching out in the community to provide grief counseling to those in need.
Doing this work inspired me to take my education further. I graduated from ASU with my graduate certification in Trauma and Bereavement and I'm not stopping there. I'm also going to go for a Masters' degree in counseling so I can continue to grow and advance in my field.
I am truly thankful I work a job that I love in an environment that I like to be in. Couldn't be happier to come to work everyday. Absolutely wonderful company to work for. If you need hospice care for your loved one, look no further. You'll be in good hands with Serenity.
