We went up to Spencer glacier with Matt on 6/24/16. This was a last minute trip and everyone at Ascending Path was able to get us going with very short notice. This was the best experience we had in Alaska! Matt was a phenomenal guide! Matt had a huge knowledge base and was highly entertaining! We spent a brief moment with Ryan who was equally entertaining and knowledgeable! I can't praise these guys enough! They are the best in town! Good job guys and thanks for the accommodations!
Spencer Glacier Kayak and hike was an experience of a lifetime.
Awesome outfit to go to the glaciers with. The days leading up to the tour the weather in Alaska was very unpredictable. My tour guide Matt was awesome keeping me up to date about what was going on and what to expect. The day of the tour he did an awesome job briefing me on the glacier and how to stay safe while there. We ended up going out to Spencer glacier and it was awesome. My tour guide was very knowledgeable and put safety first at all times. I learned a lot while there. He took lots of pictures and provided a small lunch along the way. Very friendly staff. Definitely recommend this outfit. Thanks again!

We did the spencer glacier hike with them and it was awesome.. Matt and Mike were our guides and they are amazing people.. We enjoyed the trip to the fullest, and never felt insecure, thanks to the guides! It was the star day of our alaska tour.. u guyz rock!!
Booked the glacier tour online and at the last minute. The hosts were awesome and made our experience the best. The glacier guide Benny was equally awesome. We will be back for sure. Hint: bring the guide a flask. ;-)
This was a fabulous experience! I recommend it for all people visiting Alaska. The folks at Ascending Path were great and our guide Jonathan was very intuitive to our group's needs.
We had the best guide, Matt Szundy. He made our 14 year old daughter feel so comfortable on the ice with her crampons. He gave us history and stories, made our day the most epic day ever!

Great experience with Ascending Paths. I did the kayak to glacier hike guided tour. The guide, Ali, was amazingly informative and helpful. Would definitely recommend this trip.
This was easily the best thing we did in Alaska. An all day adventure complete with train rides (we rode to/from Girdwood), kayaking around icebergs, and climbing the rocky portion of the glacier. Awesome tour guide, who was both knowledgeable and always had everyone's safety in mind (he was funny, too). Perfect for groups or solo travelers. It does require a fair bit of kayaking and a little bit of hiking--proper attire is key to happiness on this trip. I want to do some of the other tours with this company on my next visit to the Last Frontier next year.
I don t usually take the time to write a review and I ve been fortunate to have been on quite a few adventures. This AP trip was one of our favorites! We have friends of friends in the Alaska travel industry and they highly recommended Ascending Path. So we decided to give them a try and to spend the night on the glacier. It was spectacular from start to finish. The train ride in was very scenic and the kayaking through the glacier filled lake was something out of a movie. Our guide was fun and full of interesting facts and we were well outfitted for the trip. The helicopter ride onto the glacier was like a trip unto itself. As we approached our camping spot, It felt like a completely different planet. We learned to ice climb, had an amazing king crab dinner and thoroughly enjoyed hiking the glacier. It was first class from start to finish! If you re looking at an Alaskan outdoor adventure, and not afraid to kayak, camp, hike and helicopter, definitely give Ascending Path a call.
OMG.....THE VIEWS!!! Spencer glacier kayak/hiking tour was perfect in every way! ENTIRELY worth the time and $!! Our guides (Allison and Steven) presented/modeled fabulous pre-game instructions to ensure everyone s safety......and they shared so much information about the Alaskan eco system....TRULY AMAZING! Did I mention the JAW DROPPING VIEWS??!! Just SPECTACULAR!! Can t wait to come back and go GLAMPING!!!
I just had the trip of a lifetime with Ascending Path going out to Spencer Glacier on the train, kayaking across the lake and then hiking ON the glacier. I have lived in Alaska for over 20 years and this trip topped anything I did before. I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone. Matt and staff had all equipment and gear ready, were professional, fun to be with and made it an incredible trip. This is a Must Do for sure!
Stunning and Spectacular Scenery We flew over and down the length of the Cook Inlet on a bear watching tour. We had a picture postcard day, and it was spectacular - would highly recommend - one of the most scenic flights to do
Absolutely loved my Spencer glacier train ride, sea kayak and glacier hike. Really a must do! The guides were fabulous (Matt and Reese) and I recommend it for a great day trip for anyone coming to Alaska!
