We went on a field trip Sunday to Marble Creek Farmstead in Sylacauga to educate ourselves further on sustainable farming. We have found a real gem just an hours drive from Birmingham and we had to find out more about their business.
Matthew and Jesie Lawrence were kind enough to give us a tour of their farm and we were in constant awe. They really took time to thoroughly and sometimes philosophically answer all of our questions, and did not complain at any time about the work we were keeping them from. Not only do they raise a myriad of livestock (hogs, chickens, ducks, goats, rabbit, cows, and I am sure I am forgetting something) but just as important, if not more, they own the USDA certified processing facility too! If you do not already know, it is extremely rare that the farmer has complete control of his/her livestock from birth to slaughter. We are talking about only a handful in the entire country, and we have one just down the road!

So glad I learned of this Farm / Business. Placed an order for beef and pork and chicken and was extremely delighted! Communication for the order was great and they were able to deliver to my door in the Alabaster area. Everything was individually wrapped, frozen and labeled. The pork chops were the best I have had in a long time and the chicken was very tender. I will definitely order again - they also accept orders to be picked up an Pepper Place on Saturdays.
Excellent meats!! We've had a few different meats from the farmer's market and all of them have been delicious! We've tried ground beef, pork, sausage, and eggs and have been delighted with all of it!
