Adequate, but has the feeling of a tradesman stop over. Cheap enough.

Good points: Lake view, very good breakfast, dogs allowed for 10 extra pounds per day and per dog but only in some parts of the hotel, presence of a lounge area. Negatives: extremely noisy: neighbors' conversations, slamming doors .. (no way to rest), dirt in the bathtub, stained towels, towels laid on the floor in the hallway before being distributed in the rooms . In general: hotel that deserves a complete renovation and a review of the rules of hygiene.

I had read some negative comments prior to my stay but found no problems when I was there. The reception and bar look like they have recently been modernised. I booked a single room but was pleasantly surprised by the size. The room was fresh and clean and had all the extras you would need. The evening meal in the bar was well cooked and the service was friendly, helpful and fast. Would definitely go back again.

Lovely setting on Loch Long, not too far away from the village . Room was a bit dated and really warm (they had the heating on). Bed was a bit hard and pillows were flat. Breakfast was nice although, breakfast stuffs were running out at 9.40 and some guests were told they weren't cooking anything else! Staff were nice.

OK hotel for an overnight stay. Rooms are basic but very clean and well heated. Dining room is dated but the bar serves meals from the main menu as well as bar snacks. Live music some evenings. Good views across the loch.

Lucky to get one star. Dirty, run down and dated. Staff hardly understood English. Room was very dirty, with used feminine products in the waste bin. Didn't get Loch view as was requested.
Will never go back

The food was nothing short of poor. I tried passing my thoughts on to the chief, but the waiting staff seemed very disinterested. Rooms sufficient for the price. We will try our best not to let the hotel affect our stay at the Loch.

Unfortunately we had booked this hotel for 5 nights ... Hotel is absolutely not worth the price, because we were not very friendly when we arrived. When we were in our rooms (116 and 117) an overwhelming smell of food came towards us. The kitchen extractor was within 2 meters of our window. The view that is so praised, we got nothing in our rooms. We had a view of the kitchen extractor. Furthermore: creaky beds, creaky ceiling, overdue maintenance, dated, dark rooms, dirty behind the toilet.
Our positive experiences: service was friendly, breakfast basic but fine, food (bar) was fine, as was coffee and cappuccino.
In short: if possible, find another hotel.

If is a lovely hotel in need of some tlc that room was fine but the bathroom was not clean the wall tiles go up to 3/4 way up wall and the dust on top was thick some of the tiles at Bath were black and so was behind sinks on bath both plugs were broken of chains the meals are good and prices are good the bar area is in the foyer as you go in door and is very comfy only problem was we got same drinks and were charged 2different prices the 2nd one being dearer than first by 60p but overall staff friendly and helpful

Great value accommodation, room's comfy and warm, stunning views over the loch, plenty of free parking. Breakfast was tasty but small portion, can't expect much more for the price I paid.
Booked a table in the restaurant on the first night disappointed right from the start, had to share a single portion of butter between two for the bread rolls asked for more and eventually got another portion of butter. Main course was okay, ordered cheese board and it arrived with no butter for the crackers ask for some and the waiter grudgingly went to get some and I was presented with a block of frozen butter. Take my advice and go down the road to the local pub Ben Arthur bothy excellent food.

Beautiful location. Good food. Bed comfortable but they need to invest in quality pillows. The ones in our room (227) were very thin. Ensuite tiny with very small sink which makes washing difficult to manage without soaking the floor. Dangerously loose toilet seat, no window, extractor fan not working. These issues were reported on
leaving

Excellent location and reception staff but poor amenities in room. Poor shower impossible to get to right temperature either scalded or chilled!

Very mediocre breakfast and evening meal served with zero pleasantness or hospitality! Asked server for some water advised to get up and go to ask at the counter.

Don't feel like coming back unless they change their attitude.

Worst stay ever. I wasn't happy with a member of the bar staff. Room view was 3 gas tanks outside. Noise from the road outside room kept me awake. Food wasn't good as had peppercorn sauce that had more peppercorns than sauce and to top it off breakfast chef was unhygienic by plateing food with his hand instead of tongs. Wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. Really upset with the time I spent there as were both key workers

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Our shower didn't work (the water either came out freezing cold or scolding hot), the room was boiling hot in spite of having with the window open all night, and our mattress was so worn out it felt like we were sleeping on the wooden bed base. I expected basic but this was probably the worst night's sleep I've ever had in a hotel. We were due to stay for three nights but asked for a refund after one. I'm not sure if they have better rooms but ours was totally unfit for people to stay in. Do yourself a favour and stay away!

Nicely placed, food was nice and staff friendly but in desperate need of professional training.
Table not laid out for breakfast and tables appeared only to be cleared when needed to seat residents. At breakfast no one appeared to be served with the correct meal and at a table oposite they completely forgot about the gentleman's porridge.
Bar is poorly stocked and staff didn't appear trained for the job.
Ice bucket which we took to our room on the first night was not cleared the following day, we mentioned this to the staff who asked if we could go back to our room to collect, we did suggest it should have been collected during the day by housekeeping.
The room was tiny, the shower had no means to adjust the temperature, anyone sitting on the toilet needs to take care not to burn their leg on the towel radiator.
If you are looking for somewhere very basic with reasonable food and your not fussed about service fine, if you're looking for an enjoyable experience find somewhere else.

Busy hotel in the summer season I'm sure not so much at other times. The check in staff asked my name and I gave it. He gave me the twin room which was booked. Later on it seemed that the room had been booked by another similar name. Oops. Complete mix up and not a problem. However the dirty looks from the guy at the front desk from then on were not called for. Like we had purposely spoiled his day. The dining room was empty if people and staff. Even though we had been advised to book. When we then went to eat in the bar area we were given more dirty looks and told to cancel our booking. Again by the guy from the front desk. All the rest of the staff were nice and the food wasn't bad either. Breakfast was excellent and the setting is absolutely stunning.

Slept amazing, had a lovely calming breakfast and dinner. Everything about this hotel (Staff + Views + Food) is perfect for the correct get away. Since arriving, Estelle has made it her top priority that customers receive the up most care. I know I will definitely be coming back!!

I was here 13 years ago with my late mum and sister-in-law when it was still part of North British Tours and also under happier times!! Service was very good then! And good now! I'm sure!

The great location of the hotel right on Loch Long is a big plus. But otherwise you can endure it at the Arrochar Hotel. The rooms were functional and clean with a direct view of Loch Long. The food was really outstanding and the ambiance and service in the restaurant were very appealing. We ate lamb on the first night and ate ale pie the second night and were thrilled on both occasions. There is also a well stocked bar that also plays live music.
A criticism is, that the hotel is a bit shabby and a renovation would have needed. Especially the stale kitchen smell in the entrance hall, which has settled in the old carpets, is very disturbing. Apart from that, it is recommended.

Great

Great location with stunning views & if working at Faslane dockyard an easy short drive to get there in the morning. The rooms were spacious, clean and had good facilities. The shower mentioned in a previous post did not devalue the room. More
