Very warm welcome at reception on arrival. Room cosy, clean & warm. Bar staff friendly & very attentive. Breakfast well cooked and served by very friendly & attentive staff. Yes some of the decor is a bit worn & dated but the staff & superb views over Loch Long more than make up for this and I would recommend the Arrochar over other hotels I've used in the area.

The rooms are nice. We did not get a room with a view but it was alright . I liked the interior and atmosphere of the hotel. The bed was comfy and it was clean. Breakfast was fresh and alright. The service was ok . There work a lot of people but they aren't very efficient. The tables at the bar were full of cans, glasses and rubbish for hours.....
But it is close to the bus station and has a big parking space.

Nice view from room, staff were also lovely! Disappointed in the room, shower between cold and Luke warm, had to ask to get towels changed after first night. TV had to take an Arial from another set as it had never been used before and set up channels. But the weather was very wet so better day would not have spent so much time in the room. Evening meal was good, breakfast also but could have been warmer.

We stayed here for one night only in June 2015
The hotel overlooks the loch and is easy to find. Room was nice and clean, and the bathroom was a good size, although the shower was very poor.
Unfortunately we arrived quite late, 8pm, and after unsuccessfully trying to find food outside the hotel,
returned to find that we have missed last reservation for dinner, so we ended up at the local chippie just up the road, which we can highly recommend.
Breakfast was cooked to order, so was nice and hot
Arrochar is a lovely quiet village but one night was sufficient

Great location, but my partner is 6ft and the beds were too small! It is clean, but food is poor quality and we could hear alot in our room from the bars music entertainment and the rooms next door.

Lovely surroundings overlooking Loch Lomond. Tired decor and sadly school dinner style food but ...very tasty and perfectly palatable. We cleared our plates! Breakfast was acceptable, not greasy, nicely presented but potato cake was way over done and chewy! Perhaps the dining room, which some might find a little drab, would be brightened with the addition of some little candles on the tables for some sparkle in the evenings? Receptionist was accommodating for change to a loch view room but generally staff seemed perfunctory in their interactions and maybe a bit ambivalent? Mattress was comfy, pillows lumpy and sheet had a historic stain but hey ho we were very tired so ignored it! Nevertheless the hotel made a reasonable stop-over enroute north but possibly given a choice, we'd not stay there again.

Initial impression was not good, Staff all seemed as though they didnt want to be there. Bar service was extreemly slow and comical due to the complete lack of knowledge by the staff. Food was disgusting in the restaurant with the deserts apparantly being microwaved to defrost before serving. I could go on. Steer clear of this one.

It's a beautiful location, right next to the Loch. Very friendly staff. The hotel is a bit dated and definitely needs an update but most importantly it is very clean and you get everything you need regarding toiletries, bedding, towels, coffee and tea facilities and a TV. Another great thing which is really important: there is free WiFi throughout the hotel that is a decent speed. I would say it's a decent place to stay where you can relax knowing the rooms are clean, you can use WiFi and the bar and food is pretty good.

Service of this hotel is appalling. When I turned up to reception I had to wait for some time to be served. I was then encouraged to book a meal time when there was only 5 other couples in the dinning room. The meal was a big joke with one More

From check in to check out our stay was fantastic. Staff were very helpful and cheery. We were given a loch view room which was superb. Rooms are as others say tired and dated but lovely, clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast at the hotel were both tasty and served quickly. The location of the hotel is the real selling point as minutes from loch lomond and on the shores of loch long. Very easy to get to and a great base for exploring. We would consider visiting again.

Room was ok. Had to wait for coffee and cooked breakfast for half hour......just to get order. Staff were great...just their system. Take 1 order...serve a table...then another. Just couldnt take 2 or 3 orders at once. Very friendly tho. Ps you will not get checked in til 3pm no matter.....then a big queue. Bar was reasonably priced.

This was just a cheap night away for us. It was absolutely amazing! Staff were fantastic, food was great and had a live singer for entertainment! Only down fall was the fry up in the morning, there wasn't enough of it.. But can't grumble as it was free! But all in all, absolutely fantastic night away! Highly recommended

Hotels in this area are quite expensive. This is basic but less expensive than most. The room was standard and quite outdated. If the window was open it let in the rain. Not the kind of place you spend a lot of time inside though so served as an alright base for our walks.

Lovely situated hotel on Loch Long. Hotel a bit tired and could do with some updating especially the floorboards they are horrendous. The room above ours floorboards squeaked really loud from about 6am when the occupants got up. Very annoying. But on the whole food was outstanding.....staff were fantastic .
The whole Covid 19 situation is dealt with very successfully and with little interruption to your stay and you feel safe within the hotel.
Hard work for the staff but I applaud you all.
I will definitely return but hopefully not be in room 133 again.

Not much choice on menu breakfast also minimal. Staff seem quite laid back and hardly smile. Very dim lights in room and damp smell. Feel that hotel could do with inside redone. Shower and bath taps could do with a clean not very nice to look at.

A little jaded and a freshen up is apparently on the cards for the near future, but the scenery is phenomenal, the food is very good and the staff at the hotel couldn't be more helpful. I would have no qualms about a return visit.

Old and dated decor. In need of modernization.

Old and dated decor. In need of modernization.
Food choice for set menu terrible. One option was quiche and chips?!
Service during dinner and breakfast was all over the place as staff didnt have defined roles.
Moved to the bar for a drink after dinner where the TV had eastenders on with full volume like i was sitting in my grans living room!
Amazing views of the loch, deliberately slept with the curtains open so i would wake up to the veiw.
Would not return. Clearly aimed at the old couch trip travelers

Not sure what to write here. Two star hotel, so expectations were not too high.

Reception staff was friendly, but not very helpful, although that depends on who was there. The manager kindly printed our boarding passes on request. But when we made notice of no hot water in our room (2 times), the employee just took a note. No further action was taken. It took several requests before the problem was looked after. They just don't seem to bother.

Breakfast was fine.

Bar staff was friendly. Nice meals, especially the curry's. Live music on some nights. Really terrible, therefore funny as well.

Toilets on the grond floor are a no-mans land. Not cleaned in days with feces on the wall.

The room was downright dirty. Stained sheets (wine?). With fungus growing inside the shower, a lot of dirt in the ventilator, and a patchwork of repairs, the bathroom was not the best place to be.

So. If you just need a place to sleep, and eat It's fine. Two stars well earned. If you like a nice, clean place: spend some more money and go to another hotel.

Very nice spacious hotel, dog friendly. Warm clean rooms and some nice old architectural features.
Quite busy even off peak, great location overlooking the loch. Loses 1 star for the view from our window in our room - 3 walls on each side, and for a lengthy delay while checking in due to only 1 member of staff tending both the bar and reception areas.

Very nice clean hotel well maintained. The rooms are spacious. The restaurant very good and the pub very nice. The continental Scottish breakfast is very well supplied. I'll just put a damper on the service team. It seemed to be facing young people (4-5) who debuted in the hotel business for two to three days. they were lost on all orders and had to go to see more experienced people. The bar section is very nice but as for the rest of the team it misses the smile ...

Good value for the money we paid, dinner bed and breakfast for two nights was very reasonably priced and bar area was pleasant and fairly social with fair drink prices. Room was acceptable with a couple of issues such as empty toilet rolls being left in the room on arrival and slight smell of damp but overall well worth the money.

Nice hotel in a great location. As mentioned, it could use some minor renovation as some parts are white dated, but the experience as a whole is quite enjoyable and generally very clean and well organised. Adding to that the decent prices, this place is a good pick!

Unfortunately not a great nights sleep or evening ...

Unfortunately not a great nights sleep or evening meal at this hotel. Dinner for 4 and only 1 person enjoyed their meal. The steak pie and chips was overcooked, the meat like leather and the pastry similarly dry and chewy. The fish was again on the dry side. The steak however was fantastic and cooked to perfection, not something you get often when asking for a blue steak so thoroughly enjoyed. Not a restful nights sleep after dinner, a rather sad view of the top of the kitchen considering the beautiful loch the hotel is right next to. The high central heating and the constant noise of what sounded like a generator going all night added up to only a couple hours of broken sleep. As well as this the lost dissapointing thing about this hotel was the generally level of cleanliness was not what I would expect with obvious staining on curtains and cushions throughout the hotel and old cardboard tubes from toilet rolls not cleared out the bathroom from previous occupants! For the price of the food and of the room I would have expected a lot more and wouldn't recommend you spend a night here.

Ill start with the good points of the hotel.

Ill start with the good points of the hotel.

The hotel is located on the side of Loch Long and has spectacular views if your lucky enough to get a Loch view room.
The food on offer was well presented and you have a reasonable choice.

Now the not so good

After checking in and entering my room, I had to go back to the car park to check that the car I'd arrived in wasnt a DeLorean.
Yes you guessed it the hotel is a little dated and I thought I'd gone back in time, not quite 1955 more like 1975.
Whilst I can see past the retro decor and the kind of pictures your gran has on the wall, i cant see past the cleanliness or lack of it in places.
Skirting boards, wardrobe doors and shelves, mirrors, even the windows to the outside world were all below even the most basic standard of cleanliness. The light in the bathroom had dead insects in it and carpets needed replacing, radiators re painting etc. The electrical items also need a more up to date PAT test for safety

The attitude of most of the restaurant staff was excellent, however there was one person whose attitude was a little off with the customers. He gave me the impression that customers are getting in the way of his life and that he doesn't really want to be there. In fact as one customer left they said thank you and his response was "yeah right see ya" said in a manner that came across as thank god you've gone.

This could be a great hotel in a great location if it was brought into the 21st century

Great location with brilliant views onto Loch Long. Decor is a bit shabby n it's a bit run down, could do with an upgrade. First room we got given was small n had dirty bed sheets though the Manager apologised and moved us to a larger room which was nice, also got a free bottle of wine with our dinner. The food at dinner was quite nice, 3 options for each course and you can pay a supplement for food off the other menu. Breakfast was also ok. Overall, had a nice stay and staff were friendly, was worth what we paid
