Just called in to the Arkwright following it's recent re-opening after the COVID 19 lockdown.

A smaller than usual beer selection but good quality beer - I particularly enjoyed the Thonbridge Crystal Ship - a lemon sherbert sour and Ashover's Damson Porter.

Pub looks lovely after it's lockdown makeover and is well organised and safe throughout.

Traditional pub serving good food and a good selection of real ales. Dog's allowed in games room but not the restaurant side for obvious reasons. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere, open fires.

Is there any wonder that this pub continues to be regularly nominated for area Camra pub of the year. Without hesitation I use the word excellent for every aspect of this pub. The cask beer range is incredible, the prices very reasonable. The food offered is good and fairly priced, the tenants genuine and friendly. If you read my other reviews you will find that I rarely, if ever, offer such effulgent praise about a place.

How I would love to drag some greedy Peak District landlords into this place by the scruff of their necks and say, "Look ! This is how you should run a pub"

Never ever again! Pub might be clean and tidy inside, but the food I had was bland and tasteless! Attracting mainly youngsters, not a place for the older generation . Go to Elm Tree Restaurant, now that is gorgeous food!! I go to places that serve awesome food! I had the Creamy Garlic Chicken, more mushrooms than anything else, tasted of no garlic at all. Food tasted like paper.

Shocking! Waited an hour for food to slowly trickle out from the kitchen, from the first meal brought out to the eighth persons meal 15 mins passed inbetween, struggled to begin to eat inbetween swatting away the flies! Didn't finish our food, when we complained it appeared they were already aware of the problem with 2new chefs, in all fairness the manager was very apologetic and did not expect us to pay the bill.
