Do not use this company! Tiela Rigg appraiser came out to my home to appraise it. She made a huge error not including all of my square footage. She listed my home as 3737 sq feet and did the comps based on that square footage instead of using the total living square feet of my home which is 4100+ square feet. She listed my additional 400 square feet as detached space??? It was a good thing i held onto my first appraisal. The first appraiser listed all of my square footage and used correct verbiage to describe my property. He also used the appropriate comps to assess the value of the home.
I had to challenge this error with this company and it took over 2 and a half weeks to get this resolved!! This company s customer service when there are issues is nonexistent. The Owner/Instructor Robert Olgesby, tried to defend this error instead of just fixing it, in a timely manner!! After several phone calls and emails from myself and my lender, my value was increased!! If i could give my experience with this company zero stars, I would.
Run far away and do not allow your lender (if refinancing) to use Appraisal Tek!!

Worst appraisal experience ever! They will manipulate you and hold you "hostage". Appraisal due date was August 12th, on August 13 they "encouraged us to get a structural engineer to evaluate the property". They would NOT release any information on the as-is condition of the house, they based it on "what if". I paid an additional $500 for an engineer to evaluate the house and its now August 21st (Friday) and still no appraisal.

The worst appraisal experience I've ever had. I've bought and sold 9 houses over the past 5 years and have never had a problem with the appraisal company. The appraiser assigned to my house, Don Stenberg, didn't reach out to me or even try to schedule the appraisal after the bank assigned him to me. I had to call him multiple times just to get him to commit to coming to my house! After he came I had to continue following up just to get him to complete the appraisal and send it to the bank. After seeing his appraisal report you could tell it was thrown together with hardly any research. In my neighborhood, houses that are smaller and far less upgraded than my house sold two years ago for more than $200k than what he appraised my house at. Houses have only gone up in value since then. I am still completely baffled how he came up with my home valuation. The worst appraisal experience I've ever had! Stay away from these guys.

We have utilized AppraisalTek for private appraisals for our clients prior to listing their homes to assure our sellers they were listing their homes for the current market value and conditions. They are the central party between the lender and borrower in nearly all circumstances in order to keep the appraiser from being influenced by the lender, borrower and seller so a fair market analysis and all lending guidelines under Federal guaranteed loans are conducted properly so the client (lender) is assured an accurate value of a property. I have worked with AppraisalTek for almost 14 years. They use great technology to keep you up to date with the status of each order. They always answer the phone to answer any questions I may have on appraisal reports. Their rotation of appraisers are always professional and my clients often say nice things about them after their inspections are complete. We rely on so many people/vendors during each mortgage transaction and I never have to worry about AppraisalTek. They just handle their business efficiently and with integrity.

Update 9/24/20: in response to appraisaltek response to my review: I welcome a phone call from you. I will not be calling your office any longer since I have already been promised a return calls from the owner that never come. If you reach out and clear up the matter I will gladly modify my review. I would be shocked if you can offer an acceptable resolution (i.e. a refund for a second appraisal that never happened).
Update 7/8/20: I contacted Better Business Brueau for mediation. Appraisal Tek would not respond to BBB. It's hard to believe that Appraisal Tek isnt even willing to discuss the matter.
Extremely Disappointed. The first appraisal I received stated the property could be split and developed, provided a variance from the county is obtained. For this reason I could not get a loan. The appraisal should be an assessment of the property "as is" and not based on "what could be." Variances are difficult, if not impossible to obtain. However, We had no choice but to split the land and start the contract from scratch. Another appraisal was order from Appraisal Tek and what I received was a copied and pasted version of the first. There were numerous errors and contradictions. Since I was given no proof an actual assessment took place, I requested a refund. I purchased 2 appraisals, totaling over $1200, and was offered a refund of $100. The sale was delayed a month. I have been calling Appraisal Tek for weeks. I am always promised a return call that never comes.
