Absolutely beautiful! The kids loved the Artlab that was included with admission and I loved the exhibits. The staff was very friendly and the grounds were stunning! We can't wait to see what they display next!
Surprisingly nice. Some pretty impressive art/sculptures on loan from some very reputable international art/sculpture galleries as well as the "Fairies in the Garden" which displayed children created fairy homes and some more intricate mini fairy cities. Very well done...a lot of effort put into it by the talent of tomorrow.
The Christmas lights walk through was so fun and my children lived for it! My kids range from 3 to 11 and they all had a blast as well as myself, 29, younger brother 21, and my parents 50+ and 70+... So any age WILL LOVE THIS SPECIAL PLACE.
Quite an interesting art experience tucked away in a unique geographical location. Although it was very cold the day I walked the sculpture gardens, it was worth the cost (re: the weather; the admission was free the day I attended and normally only $5). Artists inside the facility were busy creating wonderful artifacts; upstairs was a couple of pieces on loan from the Hirshhorn in DC. As a final note, the place is child friendly. I highly recommend Annmarie, especially if you enjoy artistic expressions.
Beautiful place for spending the day. Whether you want to relax siting, reading a book, making art or picnicking this place has it all. My two girls loved it and so did we. Highly recommend to visit.
Art fest was great! Alot of artist only down was the prices were steep, I know value is in the eye of the artist but i see why there were alot artwork left at closing. Just my opinion
This is a great garden to walk around on a NIC day. They also have great displays for holidays. After walking you have access to a nice little gallary with a snack bar and live music.
This is a nice place to take a walk. Well behaved pets are allowed. They hold special events through out the year. There is an educational center / museum. There is a permanent display of sculpture along the tree covered trail as well as a children sanded play area.
I have been visiting Annmarie Garden for years. Their gallery changes over time like the seasons and their special events usually bring out the best in visual and performance arts. Great for all creative minds of any age!
Wonderful indoor and outdoor museum near Solomon's. A pleasant walk through the woods with sculptures from the Smithsonian and worthwhile art from local artists inside the museum . Well worth a visit !!
Some of the employees here need training on social skills. Came for Arts Fest. Went through multiple check points being asked the same question of whether I had tickets. And this is all before the actual booth where you have your tickets scanned. Ok, sure I get that because of COVID they are taking precautions. What I don t get is why some of these old ladies are totally unfriendly and look at you like you have 3 heads and act like you re trespassing simply for walking toward a public event that you ve already paid for. Yes yes and yes, I have tickets!!!
Amazing place that we love going to each year for "Mud Day". It's a bit of a ride, but make a day of it and make sure to grab lunch at one of the many waterfront restaurants nearby!
Excellent juried exhibits featuring many area artists, fabulous sculpture garden with works on loan from the Hirschhorn in DC, + classes and activities for youth and adults.
Just an hour drive south of Washington, D.C. is a sculpture garden. Annemarie Sculpture Garden is an affiliate of the Smithsonian and houses many pieces from the Hirshhorn Museum (Washington, D.C.). With its own collection of art and the large arts center on campus, it's a whimsical place to bring the whole family. Here's why I loved it:
1) Art: Although there is a small gallery on the second floor of the arts center, most of the pieces are outside in the garden. Follow a number of trails through the forest and stumble upon pieces like a rock with an upside-down painted astronaut or a little house that leads to an alphabet scavenger hunt for kids. Most of the pieces are modern art.
2) Fun: Kids love this place. There's a fairy village, a colorful area filled with pieces for kids, outdoor art classes and fun sidewalk paint asking kids to "Gallop like a unicorn" and "Hop like a frog."
3) Price: Even if you spend hours here, they just ask for a suggested donation of $5 per person. I think it's worth a donation larger than $5!
4) Amenities: There's plenty of parking, restrooms (even during the pandemic) and an art school.
If you go, drive a few minutes into historic Solomons to walk along the water while enjoying a slice of key lime pie from Lotus Kitchen.
My favorite local cultural spot. Great for taking my old dog for a walk, viewing a unique exhibit, taking an art class, buying a gift for someone who has everything, treating yourself to a fun piece of jewelry from a local artisan or making some craft from recycled materials! Be sure to go in to the old public (ladies) restroom in the education building - you'll never see one like that again!
Very original and interesting place and event. Fun the family, a date, or solo to exclusive in an awesome light show that will warm your heart and get you right for the season
This place is a gem and a delight! Both inside and out among the meandering pathways, sweet little surprises are around every corner. A pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.
Such a wonderful place for the kids. Really enjoy the lights. The only part that is a little rough is the over flow parking during busy times. But it really is an awesome place and very unique. Fair prices, tons to look at, and always has creative events.
Wished we lived closer to visit more and do the many art classes/workshops. Love how nature and art come together. Lots to see during your peaceful outdoor walk. Great for kids. They have a craft room where you can do a free craft, was expecting something for very little kids, but they had a neat craft for older people making flowers out of old plastic soda bottles. If you have the chance you must go to the holiday lights, it is so pretty to walk through a lit up woods at night. No feelings of being rushed by the car behind you, just walking at your own pace. Different sections had different themes, most not Christmas themed, but still very pretty and creative. They had a live band inside playing traditional Christmas music. The gift shop is nice.
It was really great to walk around anin nature and see amazing art sculptures. They were just setting up for their Christmas exhibits so all those lights made it even more spectacular.I would recommend that anyone who loves art or nature go see it.
