My favorite place of worship. Fantastic institution on every front, serving the needs of many. It's a warm and inviting non-judgemental atmosphere.
USH is a warm, welcoming, down-to-earth congregation led by the outstanding Rabbi Rob Scheinberg. A highly intelligent, humble, kind man, Rabbi Scheinberg is the consummate teacher. On Shabbat mornings, he asks the congregation their opinions and their questions about the parashah as well as providing pre-written source excerpts to prompt our thinking and to connect the Torah portion to our lives. He is caring, generous with his time, always learning, and very involved in Jewish and larger community issues. The services involve lovely singing by the participants.The people who attend services have become our extended family and are hugely supportive in difficult times. The rabbi leads a choir that sings at various special occasions in a low- key, harmonic way. The overall characteristics of USH are joyfulness, engagement and meaning. And the USH education programs are very high quality - from pre-K (Kaplan School) to post-b'nai mitzvoth classes (Learning Center).
