I finally got a chance to check this place out, which I've wanted to do forever when they have special events. But, honestly the experience was mediocre. We got there and walked around the parking lot area looking at some cool sculptures waiting for the doors to open so we could pay the admission. When they opened the doors, we went and paid and started to ask the lady at the counter what there was to do there, she explained to us a couple of smaller exhibits to look for and then about the walking trail where most of the sculptures and fairy houses were. We asked her if there was a separate exhibit for just the fairy houses and she got an attitude like she couldn't understand how customers could have questions about exhibits. We walked away to go see the sculptures, and as we were walking down the trail, there were rusty fold-out chairs, seemingly thrown into the woods randomly. There were so many mosquitoes on the trail that it was unbearable.

I recommend a few things to make the experience better:

After you pay, just grab a map and start walking.
Bring mosquito repellent.
Don't expect this to be worth more than the $5 entry fee.

This place is gorgeous. Not many inexpensive ways to experience the arts in southern maryland to the level that Annmarie provides.

Beautiful installations all through the wooded paths, art classes for kids and adults, special events quite often- and the (air conditioned) galleries are great as well. Gift shop has a ton of neat items, from toys and cute fun baubles to full on art pieces from the featured artists.

The Artsfest every September is a great two day event with 150-ish artists displaying their wares, you can find everything from jewelry to 8 foot tall driftwood sculptures! Stained glass, Ceramics/pottery, of course painters and photographers galore... Lovely fabric and silk artists, metalwork and others I've forgotten to mention!
Many of those artists also sell things at the Makers Faire events on Saturday mornings during their season (website does have the info) so if you missed Artsfest you can still see a lot of beautiful things for sale!

Definitely a place worth visiting if you're in the area, expect to spend a good amount of time exploring.

Love the Artfest they have every fall. Also during Halloween and the Christmas Holidays they decorate the gardens with lights. They have scheduled art classes... painting, pottery ect. You can rent the facilities for events too. Pretty awesome place.

Hidden gem of culture with both a local flavor and the limitless reach of art. Friendly staff, library atmosphere in the indoor gallery, and a peaceful, shady walking path for outdoor exhibits. Great place to take your imagination for a stroll!

A neat little place. Most of the sculptures are on loan from the Hirshhorn, and tend to be 1950s or 1960s pieces. The walk is about 1/4 mile on a wooded asphalt path. It was very peaceful, and though we saw a few other people, we were mostly alone on the trail, which was nice. Some of the pieces are set back a bit from the path, and earlier rain had left the grass soggy so we couldn't approach them, but there was nothing we did not see.

The building has an art lab where you are welcome to make art projects using recycled items such as egg cartons and old CD cases. This would be a nice place to take kids: a little art project, the opportunity to run around outside a bit, and all for a pretty reasonable price ($5 each for adults, less for kids). We will be going back.

AnnMaries is a quaint, relaxing walk through a wooded area there are beautiful modern statue's through out the grounds many are on loan from the Smithsonian. Every so many yards are little tiny fairie houses made by different people in mixed media. My favorite is a grouping of Fey carved out of interesting pieces of tree then hung on trees to give a look as being part of a grove of living fey. There were some plantings here and there but I did not really see any extensive gardens. A cute gathering of ceramic flowers caught my eye they were made there last summer as a community art project. The entrance price was very low, and the gift shop carried art mostly from local Artist. I do recommend a stroll through the garden it is fantastical!

I never been here before but I got to go with some family during Christmas time and it was beautiful display of lights and art. I will hopefully go to more events and stuff there in the future.

This place is set in the outskirts of Maryland. A little hard to find, it was for a graduation - birthday party. Artsy interior. 2 rooms were used for good and dancing. A small kitchen. Chairs and tables provided. There is a small bathroom inside for persons not able to go to the outside bathrooms in a separate building. An outside patio area. Very nice.

Great place to take art classes, after hour show openings are always a great time, or just spending afternoon walking the gardens. You must check out Art's Fest in September, lots of talented artists, entertaining musicians, delicious selection of refreshments, and lots of fun for all ages.

What an unexpected, wonderful stroll through sculpture and art both fine and whimsical! We went on an overcast morning and had the gardens all to ourselves and that made for an extra special experience with only the sounds of nature and our soft footsteps. Keep a keen eye as you stroll...there are many surprises hidden in plain sight.

Fun place to visit. Kids will enjoy finding all the fairy houses. There are also sculptures along the path. Also neat is that they put together natural materials (branches, bark) for those who feel inspired to build their fairy creation. My kids enjoyed the playground. Masks are required inside. It was not very busy on a Sunday so social distancing was not a prblem. The bathrooms were open and there was plenty of parking.

Its really nice although the kids get bored quick. They have a really nice park for the kids to play on and they will stay there for about an hour. Plus there is a little workshop and sometimes you can just create things with millions of items. They do have events which the kids love. But other than that the kids get bored of the walk and the sculptures.

My grandkids love this place especially the Lolly Fairy Place, the Art Lab and the fairy garden exhibits. It's shaded throughout so it's great if you want to be outside and not have to worry about the sun. Lots of hidden treasures and the kids love looking for them.

As an antique appraiser with Hammer and Meisterhaus Antiques during the Antique Fair, I was so pleasantly surprised at the operation of this phenomenal art garden! This place is a must see not only for events such as these, but also for the wealth of art in the interior gallery. Wish they did this in the fall as well but I definitely will be back!!! Special Thanks to Stacy and all of the staff and volunteers!

I loved the lights. You cannot see the sculptures much at night, but the lights make up for it. If you adore looking at Christmas lights...GO!!!! Beautiful walk through celebration of holiday lights!!!!

Pretty location, fun events. In particular, Artsfest and Garden in Lights are must-see events in SoMd. Two stars deducted, though, for the heavy-handed censorship they displayed on the advice for 2019 wall during last year s Garden in Lights event (pictures taken prior to the censor s sponge). So much for free expression and diversity of thought!

We didn't actually go in the museum, just went in the morning to play in the fairy garden and wander the outside exhibits. The fairy garden is simple but my 3 and 4 year old loved it. Their imaginations went crazy and we stayed well past our intended time. A hidden gem that needs more publicity.

the sculpture garden is a mostly shaded amble through the woods. it's a lovely walk dotted with abstract and figure sculptures. if you come the right time of year you'll be delighted by fairy houses hidden through the woods. don't forget to visit the main house. the first floor may look mostly empty, but the second floor houses rotating exhibits. a lovely place to spend the afternoon.

Excellent sculpture park and art centre. Stunning grounds with plenty to see. Some excellent examples of contemporary and modern sculpture, beautifully displayed as part of the garden. Thoroughly enjoyable few hours spent ambling round the peaceful outdoor space.
Pleasant gallery with opportunities to purchase locally produced artworks. Great little gift shop with wide variety of interesting items to browse, plus a lovely range of children's toys and games.
Friendly and helpful staff. Some light refreshments available and well maintained facilities.
Would highly recommend as top attraction in the area.

My wife and I love walking the path through the thirty wooded acres of art and sculpture garden. There is something new to discover during each visit that adds to the pleasure that calls us back to visit often. The events put on by the staff cater to all ages and include hands-on arts and crafts, sing-alongs, outdoor workshops, a "bad art" night, adult mingling nights with wine, and a wildly awesome and popular annual Artsfest with artists' booths located throughout the Garden. The best part is watching kids enjoy themselves among the fairy castles, gnomes, troll bridges, and hobgoblin hideouts, not to mention elves and fairies dancing around mushrooms under the twinkling lights that turn nights into magic. There is something to celebrate each season with the Christmas season Garden in Lights topping the year of events.
