A stark reminder of man's inhumanity to man and the despiration to stay alive.
Very powerful and meaningful experience. Buy your tickets online!
Get tickets online way in advance. They sell out fast. Worth it!!
Such a humbling experience.
To see what the family went through was heartbreaking
Extraordinary museum, humbling and sobering experience to learn about Anne and her life and family!
Very informative and moving. A must visit if you're in Amsterdam.
Found this quite boring, I think they could have put a bit more into it, I felt like I queued to walk around empty rooms with writing on the walls. There is a problem with bottle necking at one point and everyone pushes to move forward. (They need to put some staff there to keep order) maybe putting a through things in the rooms for people to look at and get an idea of what was in there maybe an idea.
I don't like museums in general but this one was very interesting, check it out if you have a free evening :)
Highly recommend this museum. It s a very humbling journey through Anne s house and well worth the time it takes.
New rules are as follows (evidently): 80% tickets sold online 2 months in advance (05/2019). 20% left for online short notice online dispensation (not very reliable). 0% cash tickets.
I went with my aunt whom is an Amsterdamned citizen, and she didn't even know it was that bad. She translated the new TOS for me from a service lady (very lovely looking and sounding disappointment in all fairness).
I gotta give it a 2.
Important part of history and needs to continue to be remembered
Excellent all round. Buy a ticket on the internet before you go.
A place to remember us to never forget those who suffer, a must to visit in your life time, and learn from it
I read the Anne Frank's Diary when I was very young and I have been inspired by her ever since. Visiting the Anne Frank House was something I have always wanted to do and it was a beautiful experience. If you are in Amsterdam, you have to visit this place because it will teach you a few things about tolerance, hope and love. Do not miss it for the world.
Takes you back in time! I read Anne Frank's Diary when I was a child. What a great opportunity to be able to walk through the actual house where Anne's family hid for two years. It is a sad and sobering experience. Yes, you must purchase your tickets online. Several people were turned away at the door because they didn't buy their tickets in advance. This was definitely worth visiting.
It was such a great experience. The museum is recreated based on the hiding house she and her family used to live here in Amsterdam. She died at a such young age but left the world a tremendous statement and life experience that will forever remain in everyone's life.
Really well put together tour, free audio tour in multiple languages which only start when you're in the corresponding room. Informative and interesting.
Absolutely amazing place, best to book your tickets as very busy, so interesting to see all about her
Worth a visit if you want to get a closer experience of wwii-related history
the story of this little girl and tour experience will give you chills, she's just one of the innumerable lives lost. this tour will make you realize why the whole europe still mourns the mishaps of 2nd world war.
An invaluable tip: if you have the opportunity, book online in advance (usually, 2 months before visit). The
line for getting in without a reservation is extremely long.
Great historic place to visit with a story worth remembering.
Definitely go and see it if you have read Anne's diary. If you however are just a curious mind wandering in Amsterdam, maybe skip this one.
The history of the family and the struggles through which they have been subjected to are portrayed by some quotes on the walls, but other than that, you basically see 4-5 empty rooms devoid of everything, possibly trying to accentuate the loss of possessions and the spartan life the family had to endure during hiding.
On the plus side, it is only 9 euro per ticket, so not that expensive.
Educational. Inspiring, make sure you book on advance through the website.
It is a beautiful modern museum from where people may learn a lot how an incident of past can be used to educate the people in the right and appropriate manner. Anne Frank became a sell-able commodity, but I appreciate the efforts of the museum for promoting multiculturalism, respect for different faiths and races and advocating for tolerance. Parking of car is a difficulty here, but it is perhaps true for a visitor of Amsterdam in any way. I went there during winter when the queue was smaller, otherwise, queue can be worrying.
Be sure to get your tickets in advance. I cannot stress this enough. The tour is moving, but the video at the end is marred by the inclusion of celebrity comments.
Never forget: "all people have feelings" no one is different from another.
Book this waaaay in advance and don't be late arriving
great place to visit, full of history. be aware, it is busy and you can only book tickets online
Terrible. Overpriced. Tickets are extremely difficult to get. The tour is very crowded. Very little historical artifacts. All of the quotes she is claimed to have written, seem to be coming from a full grown adult. I don't believe she wrote this. It's much too advanced and articulated for a 13 year old.
Well planned museum. Well cured. Worth a visit (plan two hours and some sighs or tears).
Rich visit. Definitely a must in Amsterdam. You need to book in advance through the website
Definitely worth a visit if you were in Amsterdam! It was a moving experience especially for our teenagers.
An interactive moving tribute to all who endured. Well worth the visit. Add the lecture if you can really add to the experience
This was a very educational and emotional experience. It is really worth it to invest your time.
It s a must see, obviously, but it s also worth seeing.
Only viewed it from the outside but it was a very interesting feeling to observe this single story that was part of a very dark history.
Very interesting about the Anne Frank diary and her life
This is a must do! Very well done and a special experience I will always remember. Everyone should do this.
The museum guides you through the lives of those hidden in the secret annex, and then through the building itself. A very sombre museum allowing you to reflect on the lives of those lost. The free audio guides stop while you tour the hiding place, to allow a moment of silence and reflection on the horrors. A very moving museum.
An inspiring experience , however the queue was ridiculously long, so to make life easier i highly recommend to book online.
One of the most amazing historical places in the Netherlands. Truly Powerful.
I loved the Anne Frank huis/house, I personally recommend going in the morning because it is early and the whole experience is very refreshing. The story the house holds is moving and inspiring. Loved it.
Beautiful moving place, would highly recommend the tour
Book book book well in advanced well wort it (on line only)
A must see if your visiting to Amsterdam, however you MUST book online as it will not let you in if you don't have an online ticket.
It s too difficult to get tickets here. There should be a daily lottery or something that helps permit visitors who didn t get tickets months in advance the opportunity.
Meh... it's everything you've already read in her literature. Nothing new here. Very commercial...
I was actually surprised with the museum. Excellent in every important aspect for a museum. Totally worth it!
Comprehensive tour, really great and immersive experience.
A fascinating insight into the life of the Frank family, a well laid out Museum with multi lingual commentary. Takes around 30 - 40 minutes to complete
very moving visit, rich in emotions. The place is well preserved and so we can see the living conditions of Anne Frank and her family. It is normal that the furniture has not been reproduced because Otto Frank did not wish it. COVID-19 safety standards are met. Audioguide in many languages, just scan the numbers for explanations. Very well thought out and done
Impossible not to get touched by this place... What an experience it brings...
Great experience. Very excited. Must for every one.
Harrowing, uplifting, fascinating...... A must do experience
It's the kind of place that really brings you back in time and shows us where the beautiful mind of Anne Frank lived.
I would give a 5th star if the museum direction actually enforced wearing masks inside at all times, in a time that covid-19 keeps claiming lifes in Europe.
Although the subject is very sombre I felt that it was well covered. We were a mix of those who have read the book and those who haven't. It doesn't matter for our appreciation of the horrors that they experienced. Considering how many people were there it was very quiet and sombre. Would definitely recommend. The complete tour took about an hour, definitely good value for money. (Not suitable if stairs are difficult)
Unfortunately we couldn't get in as you have to book up to a week in advance as it's so popular. As we were only in Amsterdam for a couple of days we couldn't get tickets, had we known I would have booked before we arrived.
Private Guide Service for the Anna Frank House.
Let me know
The story of Anna Frank is very interesting and important for all of us. Everyone must to know the story about this cute little girl and her family.
It is one of those museums where you re not presented with a bunch of dry text which you could also read on Wikipedia. It s concise yet informative and takes you through the history of this wonderful girl. It is crowded though.
It was sooo crowded. I recommend you that take a museum pass and reservation so you can enter preferentially.
VERY moving. The large crowds make it difficult to view the smaller exhibits.
This is one place that people must come and see... Full of history!!
Today we visited the Anne Frank House and it was so eye-opening to what they would have gone through. The Anne Frank House is a museum with a story. As a visitor, you can experience the story of Anne Frank and the Secret Annexe through quotes, photos, videos, and original items. The Anne Frank House is an independent organisation that manages the place where Anne Frank was in hiding during the Second World War, and where she wrote her diary. If you ever get the chance to go to the Anne Frank House I would definitely recommend it. It s a bit of a surreal experience walking through where they hid during the war and how small the space was but also it is very educational. I m not sure if young children would enjoy the experience as much as adults. I think it would have been quite difficult to get up and down the stairs and around the museum if you have mobility issues as some of the stairs are very narrow. It is extraordinary to listen to the Guide Device walking around to give you more context and explain what you re seeing. I wouldn t necessarily go back there again purely because I felt like I got the most out of my first ever trip there and learnt a lot more about what happened than I did before. I would however extremely recommend going to the Anne Frank House if you are going to Amsterdam and have never been. This was my favourite quote from Anne Frank - Human greatness does not lie in wealth or power, but in character and goodness. People are just people, and all people have faults and shortcomings, but all of us are born with a basic goodness.
Amazing experience. It was thrilling and I almost cried. Super interesting and a intimate way to understand how Jewish were treated in the second war. Extremally inspirational!
Great! Very humbling and informative despite it being my third visit
One of many places to remind the horrendous experience of the war.
If you're in Amsterdam don't miss it.
The personal is really nice and kind. I'm really satisfied with the visit.
Buy your ticket wayyy in advance. Dont wait in line for 3 hours
Pictures are of the church next to the house. Don't be rude and take pictures inside. It's a very humbling experience to see that house. It's completely different from what I imagined space wise. I always thought it's a small little attic buts bigger and worth seeing. It shows the worse of humanity but it's a good reminder that we're all the same. Again don't be a rude tourist and don't take pictures in front of the house pointing and laughing like an idiot.
Really dont remember visiting it. Must be the amsterdam effect.
Tickets only online and there is a great free bag depot in the museum and free audio device.
It is a unforgettable museum.. a must in amsterdam.
10.50 adult / 5.50 child <17
The queue was massive so didn't go in you should be warned about queue lengths
