I recently had a haircut from Shalay here and my hair looked GORGEOUS. She did it exactly how I wanted and clearly knew how to work with my hair to make it look its best.

Anne Veck did the most fabulous hair color for me! I asked for a new signature look and Ann truly listened to what I was trying to achieve. The women delivered far beyond my expectations. Judge for yourself... Not bad for an old rocker ;)

Went in a few weeks ago for a colour correction. Was promptly greeted and seen quickly for my consultation. Even thought it was close to closing time, Kelly took her time to go through options with me, which I really appreciated. I was slotted in for my full colour a few days later and am so happy with the result. They must use really good dye, as I ve had loads of comments on how shiny my hair looks since having it coloured! I was a little nervous about getting an appointment so soon, and being slotted in between other appointments as I ve done this before at Toni and Guy and ended up not getting what I wanted because the hairdresser at Toni and Guy didn t have enough time to spend with me. This was not the case at all at Anne Veck. Time and care was taken. I was also expecting to pay a lot more than I did, so I m very happy and will be going again. Thank you so much to Kelly and the rest of the team!

I have been searching for a really good colourist to do a caramel balayage on my dark brown hair for years and have finally found them in Marissa at Anne Veck Oxford. She does a wonderful job, lovely natural balayage highlights, I love the colour and cut. It really is a rare skill in my experience. Thank you Marissa :)

Thanks to Kelly for a fab cut. Your hair is safe in this talented ladies hands! Also have no fear about COVID safety! Hand sanitiser at entrance, temp checks, clients spread out at safe distance, hairdressers wear visor shields and you should wear a mask.

Of course during these times you can t get served your normal cup of something and a biccie. But highly recommend this place!

Spoke to someone last week to make a first appointment as I had moved into the area. Agreed that Kelly would be the best person to cut my short curly hair which I like dried straight. Couldn't get an appointment last week as she was not available so booked for this morning. Arrived to find I had been booked in with somebody else. No explanation for this. This stylist did an OK job but not what I wanted - maybe I was not clear. They could only offer a basic blow dry so I left with wet hair so that I could dry it straight at home. So I am going back to my previous salon next week to have the cut I wanted and a little more good old customer service.

Anne Veck has a range of hair services. Recently I had a balayage done here and was pleased with the service. Staff is cordial. The hair stylists are confident, professional and well- qualified.They have great massage chairs for when they rinse your hair.They also do 20% student discount from Mondays-Wednesdays.

I have had my hair highlighted at other salons in the past and have walked away feeling like it was a waste of time/money. My hair is blonde naturally but whenever I would go to get it lightened, it either looked exactly the same or had a weird artificial silvery colour. Finally, after working with Anne, I have a very natural looking colour that I am so happy with! She consulted with me over FaceTime prior to my appointment and assessed my current colour. She knew bayalage would be a great way to achieve the effect I wanted and she was exactly right! On the day of my appointment she was so attentive and actually truly listened to what I wanted, even asking to see pictures of hair I liked. We had a great chat and I even ended up buying a book she recommended :)

Excellent results every time - whether having my hair cut, highlighted, or styled, for the past 6 years I have always been impressed with skill and creativity of Emmanuel and the team at Anne Veck. Absolutely fantastic ! My hair was in a poor black root and dry bleached ends state . So I had decided Anna Veck needed to save me and they did and exceeded my expectations I loved every minute I was there , the staff are so friendly and I can tell they are doing an amazing job as I look around . Pierre did my hair for me and he wad an absolute star , I am in awe of my hair now and feel so much better about my self !! Thank you so much Anne Veck, I shall definitely be back soon !! Nicola was fantastic! She was so helpful and friendly and gave me loads of tips and me feel really comfortable. She was incredibly patient and talked me through all the different products and how best to maintain my hair. I loved the cut she did and she checked regularly that I was happy with it. The salon was also incredibly clean and all the staff wore masks and clients were socially distanced.

Went to get my fringe and hair trimmed yesterday. It was my first time at that hairdressers. The cut/trim was done by Nicola (I hope I spelled the name right).
It was a very disappointing experience.
1. We did discuss that I wanted my fringe to be on my eyebrows and not on top. I was asked several times and did confirm that it should be on and not on top. Not only I got it cut on top, but way on top! So I ended up with a short fringe that looked awful for my face shape. When I said it was too short, I was told
1) that I should have been clearer and more specific with what I wanted.
2) that no one will come that close to look at my fringe (!). When saying that she did move closer to demonstrate how close people won t come.

2. While blow drying my hair (length up to my shoulder blades) there was a knot that she was trying to get through in a pretty rough manner that I had to do it myself as it was hurting a lot. Two absolutely inappropriate comments (the punctuation below is to reflect the tone):
1) is your hair always like this?!
2) do you ever treat your hair?!

I do use good products for my hair that work for me and I don t struggle brushing my hair (not in a way she was). I found those questions to be very insensitive although I would assume Nicola did mean well as she came across as a nice person otherwise.



I will never come to this place again and definitely won t recommend it.

The whole experience at Anne Veck was brilliant. Sylvain really listened to what I wanted, and was extremely professional, skilled, friendly and so welcoming and caring. I couldn't have hoped for a better end result. This is definitely the best haircut I have ever had!

Anne Veck cut my hair, she's very good, knows what goes to your face. Salon has excellent coffee with biscuits they serve as you wait. When your hair's washed you can relax in the special massage chairs & have a back massage. They also ask if you want a free head massage which is great!

Was wary of booking with them after a friend had a bad experience years ago...but my sister suggested we try it for ourselves. It is her graduation at the end of the week and we were both wanting to get weave for the special occasion.

I too called in wishing for to book around the same time for convince. After taking my name and number, I asked her to repeat the details back to me just for reassurance. She said a "perm consultation booked for 11:15"...not wanting a perm, I corrected her saying it was a weave and she said that weave came under "Roots and treatments".
All was good at this point! Until I woke up early, walked in the rain and took multiple busses only for my sister to call me saying that they don't do weave! My face at this moment is accurately represented by this emoji:
The story from my sister was that she arrived and they asked for her name, after not finding her on the bookings she (my sister) informed them that I had also booked so it might be under my name. With confusion on the woman's face she asked what we wanted done, my sister told them again only to be told that they don't do weave. My sister asked if they can do ANYTHING...to which they replied "we don't do hair like yours so you better tell the other person not to come".
I'm apalled and really quite offended at the poor handling of bookings, misleading information and generally unapologetic attitude.
I guess I should have listened to my friend in the first place! Oh well, lesson learnt..off to London to get my hair done.

Sylvain gave me the most beautiful blonde balayage, he is an artist! He was also so friendly and really took the time to listen to what I wanted. I had a brilliant experience and will definitely be back! Thank you so much again!

i have my hair done by various different stylists and always have an excellent job! always very happy. i love the salon's new look: an the massage chairs they have at back :) makes me feel very pampered!

Just had my hair cut by Kelly, and I LOVE it! With short hair, many hairdressers give you the cut they think you should want/have, and I've ended up with some that are really not what I wanted. But Kelly really listened to what I wanted and gave me a brilliant cut! Can't wait to have the colour done next week to finish it off :)

Was disappointed with my colour appointment. I asked for my grey to show but it was covered in bleach and I will need to cut my hair short to recover.

After years of bleaching and cutting my own hair, I looked a bit of a mess. I was hoping to have it dyed a more natural colour, so when Jowita suggested highlights I was nervous of it looking stripey/fake but she was confident it would look good and explained everything to me so I agreed and what an amazing job she did!
She blended all the colours so well, did a fab job at hiding the brash yellow colour from the last time I bleached it and was just generally really lovely.
I can't believe how quick she was, too. Obviously really talented and confident - I can't wait to come back!

Have been in to help with Tray Tests a couple of times and though the hairdressers I had weren't staff (yet?) they were amazing! All the (actual) staff were so friendly and polite. And LOVE the massage chairs for hair washing element! And the water vaccum thing! Will definitely be back - tray test or otherwise - it's easy to see why they win so many awards!

Would not recommend for people with Afro hair. The first time I came to this place, the person who was in immediately tried to shoo me away because "we don't do this type of hair" but someone else came and intervened and attended to be with a bit more class and politeness. I had my hair cut but was told to straighten it before hand which I found ridiculous because I've had my hair cut while wet several times. Plus my hair was actually relaxed so the comment was even more absurd. Anyway, I didn't know any other place so I simply ignored this sideways comment.

Fast forward a year later, I received a birthday voucher so I decided to use it. After all, why not? So I went in and this time was greeted by a very sweet woman. She cut my hair on three occasions while it was transitioning to natural. She did a great job.

Fast forward not to yesterday. I received another birthday voucher and so went in to see if the stylist was still there so she could cut off what remains of my relaxed ends. The person there, a man who sounds either American or Canadian, seemed nice at first, but then proceeded to speak to me as though he knew better about my own hair texture, which has been growing on my head for many years. My hair is currently in twists so he asked if they would be taken out in the salon. He added that if so "it would require more detangling." I replied no, as I planned to take out the twists this weekend and so my hair would be detangler from the style anyway. But he insisted that apparently two people would be required to detangle my hair. I laughed internally while I tried to reassure him that in fact, this is not the case, because I would have combed it quite a lot anyway. But he still insisted he knew better. But I know for a fact that my hair is not that difficult to comb. I mean, it's mine, not his. I know better. Certain things are not difficult if you're as competent a stylist as you claim, anyway . Anyway, I refused to stoop so low to this veiled insult. I finished my enquiry and left.

I shall not be returning to this salon.

Really great salon and can recommend Marissa who did the most amazingly delicate and natural looking balayage on my previously never died hair. Nice ambience and professional hairdressers.

Top service and top cuts at all times. I've never been disappointed and the atmosphere is pleasant and chatty.

I decided to go here as my first foray into having a hairstyle rather than just a haircut, and can't imagine how I could have made a better choice.
Alastair made the whole experience a joy from start to finish, listened but also gave excellent, knowledgeable advice, looked after me and is clearly enthusiastic about his job.

Damage my hair forever
It was my first time dying my hair, went there two times before for a hair cut which went okay. I consult with the stylist for balayage as I wanted a mahogany colour (I have dark hair ) but ended in a nightmare.
The owner Anne yelled at me and told me that was the colour I wanted ( red / orange) which I didn t!!! I was the last client at the salon and of course I burst into tears (never being treated like this before).

Will post pictures on how they left my hair after this awful balayage... the worst hair salon an awful service.

Shalay is the best person to ever talk to if you are unsure of what you want. She sat me down and explained everything before making 100% sure that I was going to be happy. And I still am! That says a lot, considering that my hair was in a horrid state (thin, coloured in multiple nuances, dehydrated, coarse and just sad)! Left the salon looking like new! Wonderful stylist and person. The rest of the staff are very friendly too. Could not recommend enough!

Anne and the team at Anne Veck are absolutely fantastic, and I would highly recommend them. Anne restyled my hair to go short in August and the cut was amazing - so many compliments and it's easy to maintain. Yesterday she styled me with coral, pink and yellow highlights and I couldn't be happier with the results. Thank you!

Also, I initially was drawn to the salon because of their commitment to be eco-friendly. Anne is so passionate about this - from the energy sources they use, to recycling hair, and even the most sustainable, and eco-friendly dyes - and she clearly is always researching ways to get even better.

I was gonna call myself "BC" in this review but Google doesn't accept boring account names.. I had a cut with Kelly again a few weeks back and she's simply an excellent stylist. I could maybe have wished for a bit more time spent on my front/fringe area as was thinking of getting/growing a new style and wanted her advice, but she was busy tending to another customer colouring her hair in between cutting me, it might have been because of the COVID situation though, the 5 stars in this review are still fully deserved, it's simply a brilliant salon, only one other salon I have been to through my many years of living in London, Paris and New York has been on the same excellent level as this and I don't think any other salon in Oxford comes close, I recommend looking no further...

WORST SALON EXPERIENCE EVER! I had a haircut here and the lady who cut my hair was incredibly rude to me and cut my hair way too short. Firstly, after washing my hair, the lady blow dryed my hair anda after blow drying it and curling it , she burnt my head twice with the dryer on purpose and showed no remorse. She then proceded to kept criticising me while cutting my hair and there was no technique whatsoever in the cutting which made my hair look uneven. When I finally finished my haircut, I just decided to do a plait in my hair myself and the lady said 'no, you can't do your own hair as this is a salon and we do it as a profession only. You must pay now' SO i was rushed to leave the salon under the most ridiculous reasoning and unable to even take a moment to look at my cut properly. DEFINITELY DO NOT COME HERE!

Morgan is really good with curly hair - she encourages me to be bold with my style and it always looks great!

I have had my hair cut my Emmanuel 3 times this year and he is great. It is the first time I've been in on a Friday afternoon. It was hectic! I only put a 4 star review because I was not offered a drink. I would have loved a coffee or even a water. I was just too polite to ask until I was directly offered. Luckily, I had a bit of water in my bag the Emmanuel kindly got for me whist I was under the dryer!!!! All was well. I really do like my hair. I was just a bit disappointed. I won't visit on a Friday again.

I had a wonderful time at the salon, Anne made me fall in love with my afro hair after many years of maltreating it. They are very good at handling different hair textures, their service is warm and friendly and the massage chair while you shampoo is a winner. Highly recommend it!!

I'm usually very anxious in hairdressers and don't go often because my hair is curly and difficult to style but it looks lovely after she worked her magic. Excellent! Pleasant and professional. So far the only hairstylist I came out of 100% satisfied. It is quite pricey but worth it. The consultation appointment was amazing. My hairstylist took into consideration and discussed with me many aspects I didn't even think about! What activities I do, exact shade of blond I was after, how I want to style my hair and so on. Really pleased with the service. And the end result! I loved it! I never felt so happy with my hair and how it looked. I felt, might sound silly, empowered. If I didn't live 2h away now I would only make my appointments there. Really recommend! I was transformed by Cassie. Amazing amd insightful stylist!

I've had two great haircuts in the Salon in Oxford from the incredibly talented Cassie - an artist. A lovely buzz in the Salon, super professional and easy to book online.

I really struggled to find a good salon in Oxford and eventually tried Anne Veck after Tony and Guy had butchered my gair on several occasions for a salty price. This is when I discovered the magic hands of Emanuel. The man is a genious, and he does his magic with a smile and a lovely french accent! No one has been allowed to cut my hair in 3 years!

Always had a really positive experience at this salon. I have 'difficult' curly hair and at the time of life when I still want to colour it ;-) They have always done a great job and they do actually listen to you but at the same time provide an appropriate measure of expert advice which has been appreciated. It has a nice relaxed atmosphere and they look after you. Very happy with the results.

Great place! My hair were cut by Emmanuel - I wanted a change so I went for a bob hairstyle which meant shortening them by ~20 cm. Additionally my hair are curly so they have to be layered nicely otherwise I end up with shapeless, frizzy mess on my head. The cut turned great and super easy to style. I also got really good tips on how to style them. I am really satisfied, I will be definitely coming back.

Wonderful, friendly, attention to detail and real care to make sure the cut was what I wanted. Pierre cut my hair and helped me decide even though I was pretty unsure what style to go for. He was very professional and creative. I am very happy. I've been going to Anne Veck for over 10 years, had my hair cut by many different stylists over that time and I don't think I can remember a cut I wasn't very happy with.

After being a loyal customer with Anne Veck for over 3 years, I have experienced both the Oxford and Bicester Salons.

I have to say that i have had recently the worst experience of my life with my hair at the Oxford salon. My once blonde/low lighted hair was turned an all over khaki green/grey colour. This is not the first time I have had issues with the salon. I was advised at the time that it would wash out....not something you want to hear after paying their high prices.

They do offer to put it right when they repeatidly make mistakes however, after many attempts its never ever correct and the damage to my hair is now extremely server.

On top of the poor colouring I have experienced, the service has been consistently bad, rude unhelpful staff.

There is absolutely no complaints procedure or real customer care at all and the owner does not want to know or take accountability.

You could not pay me to come back to the salon, my hair has never looked so bad or been in such poor condition.

If you value your hair, please please stay away from this salon at all costs its really not worth the money or hassle!

This is the first place ever I've felt happy and comfortable getting my hair cut. The staff are friendly, creative, listen to what you want and really care about how good it looks at the end of it. I just got a balayage done and Jowita did an amazing job!

I've been going to Anne Veck salon for a while but today was my first appointment with lovely Sian. She listened carefully to what I wanted, got it immediately and proceeded to give me one of the nicest cuts I have had in a long while. She is definitely my go to hairdresser for my next appointment. Never ever go to this place. I just had my hair cut by a man who clearly didn't understand English and who gave me a haircut that frankly makes me want to shave my hair off but I'm gonna pick the alternative and wear a beanie for the rest of the year. I am disgusted with how bad this experience was and for that amount of money.

EDIT: Was promised a refund over a year ago; was never offered one, so that was purely written for show.

Lovely and professional atmosphere. Absolutely love the message chair. Great hair cut by Pierre. However, appointment management could be improved. I had to wait half an hour from appointment time to actually get a 15 minutes haircut.

Wonderful staff and reasonable prices for this city. Lucie is highly recommended!
