High tea was delicious. Service was great. Would go again
We stayed here over the weekend and beside the Altitude restaurant our stay was nice. We were on the 14 th floor with views overlooking the quay and bridge which was nice. The beds are comfortable and rooms are very clean. The bathroom was spotless with good water pressure. The staff are very helpful and cant do enough for you.
Valet parking was good also.
The only disappointing thing is the over the top pricing to stay the night. My husband had organised this as a surprise 50th birthday present and when he told me the cost I nearly fainted. It was over $800 for the night. Which is definately not worth it.
Considering prices of hotels around the world that are far better and work out cheaper , I would say look into other places to stay first and only stay here as a last resort.
This hotel has a wonderful views but past this it is not a five star hotel the service here is very disappointing... if your flying a long distance rent a house or condo and avoid this disappointing experience....
Stayed one night with me wife in a harbour facing room with a cold bottle of moet chandon and an amazing buffet breakfast in the morning.
Great view and worth the price! It's just an absolutely brilliant experience!
Professional, high end service, friendly staff, phenomenal facilities
My boyfriend and I stayed here overnight, and it was such an incredible experience. We had the room with the view of the Opera House and it's as glorious as you could imagine! We didn't go up to the roof top bar but that's an option, and they also have a nice pool and a great gym. I would highly recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway!
We had an awesome time at Shangri-la. Nice staff and service impeccable. It's exactly what I was expecting as this place came highly recommended. It's in a great location too.
The location of the hotel is spectacular.
Expensive hotel, but with multiple services.
Luxury rooms and a lot of comfort.
The attention at the entrance and lobby ... well, attentive and respectful.
Go up to the 36th floor (Blue Bar) with an EXCELLENT view (or better yet ...).
You can admire the entire main bay and the main internal rivers.
In one place you can enjoy an excellent sunset, an incredible view and good drinks.
Here the attention is not so good ... maybe some because what comes the most are tourists ... and many just to enjoy the view and take a photo ...
Excellent view from the restaurant to see the Opera House at night.
Enjoy !!!
The staff was without exception very friendly and helpful, particularly at the front desk and 30th floor lounge. However, the follow through was poor. We had multiple issues with bills that were inaccurate- always in favor of the hotel- and long waits for requested food items or service, some of which were never fulfilled. The physical accommodations are run down, several stained tattered or torn furniture items on various places.
Grand Ball room. Catering before and during; courteous staff and great presentation. Facilities and amenities were great. One of the best.
Hotel staff couldn't be more accommodating. We had a Harbour view room and the views were breathtaking. Rooms clean and spacious.
Not in a convenient location when arriving by train but the views from the level 3 conference rooms are fantastic.
It's was great and the customer service was wonderful
location is good, but didn't live up to my expectation. The check in experience was very average and I have received better service from a 4 star hotel.
Room was comfortable but let down on little things like one coffee spoon , one glass in the bathroom when there was two people staying.
so slightly disappointed in my stay.
Was there for the buffet, pretty good taste. Not many choices. But they are good enough. Pretty good service as well.
Nice place and friendly faces when I walk in the door
This review is purely for the Taiwanese buffet. The. Oysters were amazing! Pacific and sydney rock oysters were so fresh! I think the service isnt as efficient as it could be since I had to grab my own jug of water.
The hotel staff that we dealt with during our stay all had excellent customer service. The hotel location was very near all the modes of public transportation in Circular Quay - ferry, bus, light rail, train. The location made it very convenient for us to get around the city.
I gave bathroom cleanliness a 3 out of 5 because the bathroom was not cleaned very well during our stay. Every day after our room was cleaned, there was still hair on the bathroom floor and hair in the shower.
Great location coupled with an informed concierge staff. Pretty close to the Circular Quay Train station which leads directly to the airport. The Quay provides access via ferry to numerous locations around Sydney. Buses to Bondi and Coogie Beach right next door. Immediate access to the Harbor Bridge and Cahill's Walk. Room was well stocked and included a nice view of the Sydney Opera House. Reliable Wifi and intuitive shower controls
Breakfast was disappointing compared to our usual Shangri-La breakfast experience
Nice hotel
Have lots of meeting room n ballroom
Stayed in the Horizon Club for 3 nights. Staff were outstanding, view was amazing. We want to go back!
Do not stay here. They say they pride themselves on customer service but that begins and ends in the lobby. The international call centre took our booking and misspelt the name on the reservation. As such, when we called a few days later to find out where our confirmation email is, we find out the booking doesn't exist. No problem right? Except for the fact we received a $440 charge for a 'no-show' on a booking where we never turned up because we were two doors down in a room under our name.
The manager of the hotel assured us as we checked out that this was their mistake and she would personally take care of it to ensure that the booking under the incorrect name was refunded. No problem again right? Well we have it over a week for a credit to appear on our account, and after ringing Shangri-La to check up on it we find out there is no record of our disputed charge, and now there won't be a refund because apparently the fact their members of staff can't spell is our fault.
This is a joke, and beware it could happen to you. It's not even like we have an uncommon name.
I will never stay at Shangri-La again.
Stayed in September 2015 for 2 nights as a surprise birthday present from my partner. The hotel requires a $200 held deposit for the mini bar/damages etc which seems fair. As we checked out we were advised the money would be refunded within 24hours and it has been 5 months. Have contacted the hotel frequently who advised to contact our bank. $200 seems like nothing compared to the min $500 a night for a room it costs. Disappointed is an understatement. They say a person who enjoys, loves and is happy with the service they provide will tell one or 2 friends but a person who is disappointed and disgusted at a service will tell everyone they know. Please have someone contact me in regards to the complaint asap
Excellence location but food and service below par.
Had a very enjoyable 24hrs at this property. The staff were marvellous and the view from the restaurant was to die for. Look forward to my next visit :)
We stayed there for a night, lovely city views ... overlooking both the opera house and Harbour bridge, great room service, everything was lovely. I wouldn't mind if the Doona was also fresh .. just saying ..
Modern hotel dining close to Sydney airport Tidy interior facilities
Good staff, great location... minor point slow lifts ....
People look commerical and they just dont care customers who travel alone. My experience at Cafe Mix for breakfast was ridiculous.
Had lunch at Mix cafe, followed by coffee and dessert at lobby lounge. Food was good, service was good. Charged a 1.5% credit card surcharge it's a bit rough given the prices. Went there in search of Anna Polyviou's desserts. It wasn't clear where they were available in the hotel. Found a dessert bar in the lobby lounge. Coffee was so so. Took a firecracker home and it was delicious. Probably best shared between two.
Luxury hotel room, nice bridge, Bay and Orchestra Hall view. The breakfast is highly recommended.
Great experience although some furniture was outdated.
Also, the lifts took a very long time to arrive.
Staff were all excellent.
Classy Hotel and great location
Enjoyed my stay
Absolutely stunning views of the opera house and sydney harbour bridge. Great service, food options, and location.
It was a lovely stay.. The room was lovely but the breakfast was TERRIBLE! I was also charged twice when checking out and no one has got back to me with regards to this query
While the hotel was perfectly nice, the service felt haphazard and disorganized. No one knew much about anything, and never took initiative to help. No one seated me at breakfast, nor did anyone come take my order or offer me coffee. I had to chase down an employee to ask for something from the menu after 10 minutes. Asked bartender about their signature drink, and she laughed and didn't know what it was. Did not offer to find out or ask someone else. Employees seemed undertrained and inexperienced, without proper supervision. The buffet was also quite disappointing, and I would rate it as a step above edible. My food on the flight over was better... TV remote needed replacement, and when assistant came they did not even offer to remove room service cart from night before. Only highlight was valet offering me cold water on return from a run!
Breakfast service mixed - first day staff was overwhelmed and there was effectively no service!. Other than that - great hotel, great location, good service!
Very central hotel with views to the House House if you request it.
Very advisable
I was expecting a better room view and when we got to our room we found 2 cockroaches , 1 near our bed and 1 on the tv unit..
A horror experience- and our best moment was to leave the hotel!
Fife star rates ONE STAR REALITY!
Excellent food and service. Room exceed my expectations. Very good location. Only negative was slow elevators.
Its nice but nothing special for a hotel with this pricetag. Go to the bar for a drink, enjoy the view and stay elsewhere.
I having only positive things to say about Shangri-La Sydney. All staff are extremely courteous, helpful and go out of their way to make sure I have a pleasant stay. The facilities and rooms are excellent.
Well recommended for travellers from anywhere in the world, whether travelling for business or pleasure.
Exceptional Service everytime. Fair pricing and amazing rooms.
Sydney, this hotel provide the good wifi signal, from hotel to sydney port can reach
The views are stunning, especially around sunset! The staff were also professional and attentive :)
Had dinner at the altitude restaurant. The food quality was superb, service was really good and the price was reasonable
Location fantastic. Right in the most beautiful spot on Sydney. Was lucky to stay during vivid. Rooms were great. Big bathroom and bedroom. Service is a little busy in the morning but checkout is really fast. Room service seems expensive but there is really good places near by. Wish they had more PowerPoints in bedrooms.
I will go there again, i was there with a friend just fantastic can't fault any movement & service the staff gave us absolutely perfect
Beautiful hotel. Bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is luxurious. Close to lots of food and entertainment, and a short walk to the Wynyard or Circle Quay train station. Lovely view of the Opera House, too! The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Really the nicest hotel I've ever had the pleasure of staying in.
Professional, kind, personable, friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and comfortable rooms. All around a wonderful stay.
Your people made our stay there extra special.
Cheers,
Paul Eiding
We had brunch at Altitude. The service was great. We had a seat by the window with the view of the harbour and the Sydney Opera house so what's not to love good food shared with a friend.
Very disappointing. When a "Horizon Club Opera House City View Room (King)" is booked and confirmed in writing, this is the minimum you expect. To arrive and be told you've been "upgraded", you then assume something better is being offered. Although a large room on Level 35 sounds great, a view over a carpark and construction site of Barangaroo is not an "Upgrade" from an Opera House City View room. We are locals and although extremely disappointing to be treated in this way by such an establishment, it would be worse if you were a visitor to Sydney. It would appear that even if you have a written confirmation from the Shangri-La, this is no guarantee of them providing you with the type of room you have booked.
Rooms are rather dated & the breakfast buffet was unfortunately a let down compared to other Shangri-La hotels in asia.
The food at the breakfast had either no taste or was overly salty.
Staff were very friendly & attentive & the view from the room is the saving grace for this hotel.
It was a much bigger room than we had expected, the view was spectacular, the service at breakfast was great.
The elevators were an issue. Seemed like only two were working, and going up and down was an exercise in patience.
Overall a lovely experience, though a tad pricey.
Great hotel. The rooms with views over the harbour are totally worth it
I really enjoyed my stay at Shangrila Sydney. View was fantastic of course. The giant bed was so comfortable. Everything was good except the kettle. it was outdated, too old. perhaps a coffee machine would have been nice since most accommodations have coffee machine now. I was bit surprised that 510AUD/night hotel room didn't
have one.
My husband and I had the best time there, we loved the room, the view, the complimentary champagne, fruit and chocolates and would definitely love to go back. WE have told all our friends about what a beautiful place and location the Shangri La is and hope they can join us on another visit. Thank You.
Excellent hotel, with views of the Opera and the bridge.
A rooftop restaurant, not to be missed.
I have never felt so welcomed and so well looked after.
Amazing service, fantastic room & the Sky Bar/Lounge was next level. Arrival staff was so friendly & lovely. Will stay at this hotel again
What a great stay! All the people were so friendly and welcoming! To concierge to the restaurant.
It is convenient to go to the main sightseeing spot by foot and convenient to the hotel because there is always a taxi on the leaves. It is located in the window and allows you to see the outside scenery and the cleanliness is good. Breakfast is not taste good for price. Do not
Im always delighted and very satisfied with any Shangrila Hotel (except the Hotel Jen stay in Brisbane early on this trip).
Though my expectation of an Opera House view was not granted (on the internet the choice of the room showed the Opera house), I was assigned a room with the Darling Harbour. I guess it was my ignorance that its not possible to see the Opera House from that side.
Anyways, everything was good, nice people working there, very good location and Shangrila never failed to satisfy us.
Thanks for the hospitality. We love Shangrila on our business & personal trips and will never stop booking wt Shangrila for as long as we can still afford it..lol
Nice view and drinks, but old interior and pricey. Could use a facelift.
Was there for a conference and the staff couldn't have been any friendlier.
The best part of the hotel was the location and the views. The buffet breakfast was very average for a hotel of this class.
Great view. Nice place to relax and chat with friends!
overly crowded and chaos when checking in and checking out and 30 min wait for our car.
when booking the suite with access to horizon club it clearly states that there is a VIP check in and check out. we weren't even informed about this upon check in . website clearly states check out available until 4pm if rooms are available. only received an extra 1 hour check out. not good enough!
Had the high tea buffet at Blu Bar and was pretty disappointed. Customer service was fairly non-existent. Staff were very friendly when they did speak to you but that was rarely. Took about 15-20 minutes for us to get drinks once seated (at a dirty table). Buffet was set up in an awkward position, half the items had no labels or serving implements. Food was decent although some of the dessert items were far too sweet (and I have a serious sweet tooth). Not a bad high tea but not up to the standards you'd expect from the Shangri-La and definitely not worth the price.
