I want to publicly express my disappointment with this organization. For many years I considered it a bulwark in the defense of human rights, democracy and democratic systems and institutions. It seems that I have been wrong. In the case of the secessionist challenge in Catalonia, AI has manifested itself in clear contradiction with the defense of the legal framework and the separation of powers. It has approached, opportunistically, the secessionist positions that have dynamited coexistence and democratic order in Catalonia. They have given air to a nationalism that, loaded with supremacist connotations, reminds of nefarious movements in the Europe of wars. Perplexed many Spanish democrats attend the facility that AI has to allow itself to be seduced by the worst thing that a people can have when it comes to living together: insolidarity and frentismo.
