My wife and I stayed two nights in Vicksburg and we visited the Vicksburg National Military Park and the local casinos. The Ameristar Casino was one of the nicest we have visited in Mississippi. It was upscale, the staff were smartly dressed, and the casino was clean and well maintained. We are not smokers, so we appreciated the two large "No Smoking" gambling areas. And the air handlers worked well so the smoking was not obtrusive in the rest of the casino. There were many slots (including top technologies) and other machines as well as dealer games. We had lunch at Bella's Bakery & Cafe and were also impressed with their friendly servers and the quality of their food. The manager made a point of coming by our table to see that we were satisfied. We did not visit the buffet and did not stay in the hotel so we cannot comment on them. But Ameristar in Vicksburg is as close to Las Vegas as you will get in Mississippi.
