Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles Review

Nic atmosphere. Entrance had an indoor plaza which had many different restaurants and shops. Enough variety which would be great if we were going to stay there longer. We came for the Casino! All of the tables felt busy but not overcrowded. If you didn't have a good place to play you could just move on a little bit and more tables would "appear". Patrons were also nice. Not sure if that's a perk. The resort doesn't seem to attract a negative kind of crowd. I'll be coming back in the future when I'm in town.

Won 200 bucks and scooted on outta there. Love all the colorful lights from the machines. Was clean.

I would give 5 stars if the upstairs of the casino, the non smoking area, was as up to date with machines as downstairs. As a non smoker it is disappointing to have to sit around a lot of smokers to enjoy the better games. Other than that, the place is great. The All American food place has the best food and best wait staff!!!

The Casino is beautiful and their rooms are super nice! Lots of restaurants to choose from. And a cute gift shop with beautiful things!

The room was nice, and clean and the service was fine but I didn't personally feel it was worth the almost $300.00 I paid. They didn't have complementary coffee in the room or lobby. Really you can't afford to provide coffee? I get it if you can't provide breakfast but coffee? If I'm in the area again I will go somewhere else for much less and probable get breakfast and coffee.

Lots of smoke, fewer tables. The sports bar and globar are really good

We love this hotel. We take our small grandchildren for an overnight and then have the best time. Nice roomy room, big bathrooms, sunken living room. Great experience all around!

Exquisite! Amazing rooms and wonderful pool! I appreciate that there are specific adult swim times. Also lots of places to eat on site. You never have to drive anywhere.

Great place to come after work or to have good night out.

My wife and I went to the casino. The staff were very friendly and professional. There were a wide variety of slots and games. Overall we really enjoyed our visit!

This visit was just to gamble. Have stayed before. Nice rooms great service.

Everything is top notch at this casino from the decor to the food and drinks. So many great places in there to waste my money on haha! Would recommend this casino over others.

this rating is for the buffet at Ameristar Casino. An hour and a half in line to see that there are large lines standing for different food items.. and they were out of a lot of items every time I went to look. Food quality was seriously lacking and for the price it would have been better to eat at McDonald's or Golden Corral because that was the quality at best! They used to have a decent dessert bar but that was seriously changed and I would never recommend this to anyone.

Had a nice banquet meal. Facility was nice. Service was great.

I love the Ameristar Casino Buffet in Kansas City, so during a recent road trip, we decided to stop at this one. We thought it would be of the same quality as the one at home, but we were wrong.

Just getting to the casino, and getting park is frustrating. When you enter the parking garage, it is very difficult to park and find the entrance. Once in the casino, the buffet is clear at the end, and it is NOT well marked.

The service was HORRIBLE as we never got our plates removed from the table, and we never got a refill on our beverages. The food was bland, and the selection we not up to standards.

Next time we will listen to other, and go to the Hollywood Casino across the river.

Always have a great time at the casino can t seem to really win but it still a good time

I've been here on several occasions whether it be to use the casino, the hotel, or have a meal. Recently I attended a wedding. Ameristars hotel is my favorite. The beds are comfy, the rooms are clean, and the heated pool is almost always open. The casino is a little to Smokey for my liking. The generally always have good food. Especially the deli inside the casino and the buffet.

The food here is great. And, the service excellent!
I will be coming back for more!
Btw, the St. Louis ribs delicious!

We say here once a year. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.

Overall a pretty good casino. I went to a concert and the venue was fantastic. Clean and cool. When I played table games afterwards, my only complaint was that there was no seating for the $10 tables

They have a lot cool things here. It seems slightly outdated though. It could us a rennovation.

Right now it's usually not too crowded except for on Friday & Saturday nights it can be. Also, seems like they don't pay out near as much compared to last year before the pandemic but still a great place to have fun and somewhere to go do something nowadays!

I must retract my previous review. Ameristar has earned my respect. I enjoy my day of gambling and those slot machines were very "friendly". I loved it!

The staff was friendly and the rooms were nice but the furniture was stained and kinda gross.

Othwise this place is nice. It allows smoking, I personally don't like it. Good mix of people and a good vibe for the most part.
I respected that they ask you to leave if they think you are too tired to play contiously. Cool.
This is a safe place to have fun.

Great rooms, great front desk, great views, too expensive, no good shops to buy any amenities like water and snacks, beautiful indoor-outdoor pool, clean BUT casino was a complete bust. Smoking allowed on 1st floor during COVID19 when masks were required. 2nd floor where smoking not allowed was 100% open to the first floor! Minimal restaurants even tho it calls itself a resort. Workout room has limited and dated equipment. Diner had good food but very limited menu and not nearly enough servers [the one we had however was amazing even tho she was seating, serving, doing expo, billing and busting tables.

Was very disappointed that they have changed all of the upstairs to non smoking.. that leaves relatively few poker machines to choose from on the first floor. The drink service while playing was just okay.. they didn't seem to come around very often to offer drinks. The poker machines I played payed out fairly well.. I have played alot worse.. at least they kept you playing for awhile.. parking was fine in the garage.

Lost lost and more lost. Connected and conversed with many others while there. They are all soured and disenchanted. Congruent agreement the slot machines have been pulled as tight as Arianna Grande's ponytail. Then I went to the bar and ordered a caffeine free diet soda with bourbon and they don't stock diet caff free soda. WTH. They can't stock a few cans of diet 7-up?!?. So I asked for wine. Half the serving I would have been served at a bar/restaurant and bartender asked for $7!!! I replied a dissatisfied "no thank you". Cocktail waitresses seemingly only hang around high roller areas. Guest relations is getting snotty- all I encountered. Walked in the exit to the buffet to say hi to a friend and so easily could have grabbed a plate and ate without notice. Good luck Ameristar. Your comps don't compensate for 3 percent of my 3 hour visit.

Went to buffet for Unlimited Crab legs. It was a super long line, but it was expected. They didn't limit you on how many you could have at a time like Hollywood Casino. Some of the ones I cracked however were empty inside. Our waiter took his time coming back to our table(party of 5). And the vegetable options were limited. I looked for corn and was told all they had was fried corn on the cob. The Mac n cheese was my favorite item. Roasted turkey n prime rib looked very dry, but the steamed made to order was great. Overall I could tell the food options have gone down over the years, but it's still better than most buffets.

Had fun, I think the casino is non smoking now. Wish they had cheaper table games most started at $15 with a couple at $10.

I came here to do a little gambling and just to see how they are dealing with the covid restrictions. I like that in St. Charles County they are treating people like adults and letting you have a few decisions, unlike St. Louis County.
Here at Ameristar you can have a water, soda, beer or beverage while you are playing, which I believe should be the individuals choice. They are not using security as a gigantic over watch squad, like the Hollywood Casino is.
While the 2 casinos are only separated by a river and maybe 1 mile, by the way a crow flies. The drastic difference in rules and in the staff demeanor, reminds me of when I went to Check Point Charlie in 1985 and the Berlin wall was still in play. What a drastic different lives each East German lived over a West German. I could see after visiting both sides why people were willing to risk there lives for a life where they could make their own decisions.
With that being said, It left a gigantic impact on me at 19 years old, to be grateful that I live in the United States of America and I'm able to make my own choices, like the West Germans.
So Ameristar is now my casino of choice, if I feel the need to gamble. If I go back to Hollywood it would be to eat at Charlie Gitto's and nothing else.

Truck parking was ok, but shuttle to the casino wasn't available & the walk to it was extremely muddy.

Love everything about this casino. Clean, friendly fun atmosphere. Hotels are great and buffet is even better.

It's located just across the Blanchette Bridge just outside st Louis county very nice staff, 2 levels of slot machines. Wanted to respond back but didn't know how so thought I would edit this just to say thank you and I was just there this morning, and might be back this afternoon, although this mornin I seemed to misplace some money it happens. Awesome buffet vast selection. I dont gamble so can't tell you about that

Had a great time. Food was great at the sport bar. Was their for 6 hours and came out with $10.00 more than I walked in with. Reason for 4 stars is that there was a lot of people smoking around the tables. Next time I will need to take a battery operated fan with me like the guy next to me had. It really helped.

Everything was awesome and above my expectations except one thing... minus one star for having only one ply toilet paper. Wiping my butt with sandpaper is not ideal.

It's a Great place to get out & have a nice Girl's or Guy's Night Out. They have Great Food & always have new games to play. Definitely a Fun & Classy Establishment, I Really Recommend this place if ya need a Good Night Out & just wanna Blow Off some Steam!

Ameristar is great. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, and a nice cleanly place. Definitely worth while if you're visiting from out of town.

For a non-smoker, The indoor smoking is tragic. TRAGIC! You are overwhelmed with the scent as soon as you walk in the door. The upstairs is non-smoking but there are no tables up there. It's all machines and because its an open floorplan, the scent and smoke from the cigars/cigarettes rises to the second floor. Seems that they should split the floors to include tables upstairs and allow smoking upstairs. Never good to leave a place and your clothes, hair, everything smells like smoke.

Very decorative and professional staff, only wish there were lower prices table games instead of $10 minimums on everything. Also giving three stars for allowing smoking still. I have been to many successful casino's that no longer allow smoking. I won't be back to this location as long as smoking is permitted.

No more all you can eat crab legs. Rooms are nice but not worth the price

Buffet was wonderful, great choices, very clean, food was nice and hot, the no smoking area in the casino upstairs, is spotless, games very clean compared to other casinos, my husband and I will definitely go back many times

Would've gotten 5 stars, but room smelled like cigarettes and weed constantly and semen stains on the couch. Clear that up and we can talk about 5 stars

Waitress at the buffet seemed overwhelmed as she was training with a full house. I feel she handled her situation very well. Still undeniable good service. Casino itself was full of life on a Friday night. Smiles from every employee. When I asked for assistance there was no hesitation. I will surely be back to experience the hotel and spa next time.

Nice clean casino. Plenty of slots available to play without having to wait. My only complaint was getting the "my choice" card. There was a long line with only 1 rep that could help. Then, we get up to get window and the rep takes people walking up to the window before us after we had stood in line. It was a little frustrating.

Very lovely place to stay. The rooms were very nice the beds were comfortable and room was very clean. Staff was very friendly and told us to let them know if there was anything we needed. The casino is amazing it's huge and literally has something for everyone. The restaurants in there are amazing as well and the staff is great too. I would definitely stay again and will be going back hopefully in the near future.

Lots of room and easy to social distance. Good variety of new and older 'favorites' games. Was able to play for a while, even if no jackpots this trip

Everyone was very nice. The view from the 17th floor was beautiful and the staff helped us carry our stuff to the car.
