Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles Review

Casino being kept very clean and making sure everyone is wearing a mask.

Nice facility and clean. Restaurants are nice to eat at.

My husband bought us one of their packages (mid-week spa) to stay there for our anniversary. I just added the numbers up and figured we're being charged more than all credits we get with the package! So I called myself, made a reservation for the exact same days without the package, and guess what? I was right! You pay for a package more than what you get credit for... Hope our stay is worth it, will update my review after the stay!

Beautiful environment. As soon as you walk in the place smells so great. Great variety of slot machines.

Loved the layout of the drive in entrance! Real Vegas feel throughout with several choices for dining. Pricey but very convenient. Hit the blackjack tables after dinner and wasn't disappointed! Dealer was friendly and engaging. Our table had a blast!

This Casino looks from outside much interesting than inside. I can't say what the real problem is. No high tech maybe, a little bit as a country style. You are feeling here as you got a tough day. No happiness, it is like surviving. You are not free here. Bad atmosphere. or maybe I was so tired. But I have been at Hollywood 15 minutes ago. More open space at another side on the River.

The hotel is very nice, but they allow smoking everywhere except in the rooms. It makes the whole place stink, and there is a grime on everything from the smoke. I couldn't even enjoy dinner in the restaurants.

Great place, employees are very nice & they did the casino floor very safe for their customers.

Plenty of slot machines and gaming tables. Clean and brightly lite gaming areas.

The hotel rooms are ok. The staff is sub-par. The Spa is a rip off!!
Ladies, if you're going to get a manicure or pedicure do not go here. Unless you tip them $100 on top of the $125 fee for a 6 minute pedicure. Then you might get better service. You are better off going to a mom and pop shop in the city.

If you want to Gamble its decent, but the nonsmoking area is above the smoking area (where people love to smoke). So hard to go there and not smell like a cigarette, yuck!

Ameristar was excellent! Accommodated all our needs, and the rooms were beautiful! The restaurants inside have delicious food, and the casino is awesome!

Not enforcing mask mandate. Ridiculous! Maybe if smoking wasn't allowed people would leave their masks on.

This is the nicest casino hotel in The STL area ive been in all of them this one is standout the best in The same price range

Had a good relaxing time staff very helpful and was able to tend to my disability needs at this time due to the corona virus the restaurants don't stay open late and not to many choices if you don't have access to transportation bring plenty of food and snacks

We had dinner for a party of 14 at The Landmark buffet. The food selection was amazing and the food itself was superb. Many choices and the variety was exceptional. The only negative was the mandatory gratuity for a large party at a buffet, where you do the work except getting drinks.

Always enjoy staying there! Staff is courteous and helpful.

Walked in and the place rivaled Las Vegas hotels. Clean and plenty to do... We ate at a good restaurant had great food and a good atmosphere cant wait to go back

Ameristar has excellent food at the various restaurants and buffet. The hotel rooms are very clean & cozy. If you like trying your luck at the various slot machines you may go home really happy.

The facility is a nice facility and definable enjoyable. Hotel is fairly nice. The cleanliness and upkeep is an area for improvement, but overall the staff was very friendly and helpful. The facility has options to eat, shop, and gamble.

We didn't stay at the rooms as they are very expensive but the casino was really fun

It's Just a Really Neat place to go to meet up with Friends and have a good time.

If you decide to go here...which I would not again...then make sure you thoroughly check your sheets before getting into the bed. I got into the hotel late with my girlfriend, so we crawled in the bed and went to sleep. When we pulled back the comforter, i saw many quarter sized blood stains on the sheet,comforter, and a little on the pillow. No eay these sheets were even cleaned. We slept in someone elses dirty sheets at this spa!!!
After fighting with the office all they were willing to do was $40 to one of the casino restaurants!! Pathetic I'll never stay here again and will never refer anyone.

Had one of those days that yah just wanna see how far you can press you luck. Tricky part is knowing when to stop pressing. Nice place hadden been there in a few years.

We received great service from out bartender Kristy. She was thorough, quick, friendly, and made our experience great. We will definitely be back!

I love Ameristar, I always win enough to keep playing , but Fri. Night spent $200 bucks did not win anything 3.00 couple times not happy!

It's an ok locals casino; not a destination resort. Hollywood Casino down the street has nicer rooms. Ameristar could use a renovation. There appears to be done type of remodel going on the lowest levels of the parking garage/ self parking entrance. It has been going on for years now. Doesn't feel very safe. It can seem spooky when you are the only one down there. Slots are hit or miss. Packed on weekends. It's not bad. 3 of 5 stars.

Buy one get one free for over 50 on Tuesday nights. Can't beat that

The casino had a nice and welcoming interior and it was very spacious.

I love Ameristar. We go to the Landmark Buffet as often as possible. We have stayed at the hotel several times, every once in a while there might be a little glitch, but for the most part, the people who work there are GREAT, they all seem to truly understand the importance of customer service and do what ever they can to make you feel welcomed.
Bugatti's is fantastic, pricey but wonderful and a romantic ambiance.
The pool / hot tub - top notch.
Slots are a little tight, but what can I say?, take what you can afford to lose and enjoy the experience.
It's high class all of the way.
They serve a LOT of people everyday, and with a rate like that, there will be some errors, but rotten reviews don't sound right. Seriously. It is a fantastic (relaxing) getaway whether it is for an afternoon or a whole weekend.
I'm just stunned by the bad reviews, if I sound defensive it is only because I absolutely LOVE Ameristar, and I highly recommend it. (and, no, I don't have stock - I used to...)

I have just recently stayed at this hotel and other then the experience i would not recommend do to poor customer service, front the front desk, to the restaurants, as well as the casino. The first night i stayed the iron in the room was broken, the front desk clerk informed me that, their was nothing they could do until housekeeping had arrived. For me that was an issue, due to the fact of going to a business meeting with wrinkle closed, due to concierge not being available as well. The next day we decided to eat at the sports bar, to which the bartender displeasing with he poor customer service, needless to say we didn't stay. Again, very nice hotel, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! For me customer service go further that a nice room!

Always a pleasure to stay here! There's a lot of adult things to do downstairs. The casino and late night dining.

We had family stay here. They enjoyed the rooms. We had breakfast here everyday. Heather was an excellent server ! Especially on Thanksgiving Day.

Although they no longer have all u can eat crab legs I ordered a pound served fresh n hot. The buffet was excellent!!!

BEAUTIFUL hotel/casino!! The only problem is there pool closes at 8 o'clock for children, I think that is pretty ridiculous when you are paying over $200 for a room.We were not the only family who was upset about that.We will probably never stay there again for that reason, but will continue to visit the casino.

If you are looking to win even a little bit of money...this is not the casino for you....the slot machines are really tight...and needless to say we will not be returning here to visit.

The place is fun but unless you are a high dollar player they offer very few promotions.

It was convenient, near home, great a.c. on a hot day. Easy parking , plenty of different machines for every betting level.

Absolutely the WORST casino as far as payouts and i've been to many casinos! To go 600 spins without a single bonus round is ridiculous and yes i counted them! I would NEVER refer anyone to gamble at this joke of a place unless you like throwing money away and having no fun. I won't be back. As they say, the house ALWAYS wins! Believe it because you won't!

The hotel Suites are very nice!
The dining at Bugatti's, Amerisport's & the Falcon Diner all have good food and large portions.

Room was very spacious, but very dusty. We stayed on the river side and enjoyed the view of the water. However the sunrise showed the dirt.
Ara spa was a great experience. Ramone has magic hands. He knew all the right spots to massage my tensions away.
Casino was nice with a great selection of slots and table games.

We hadn't had the sports bar in a while. The food was much better than before. Will definitely go back

They have everything there from live poker 2 poker tournaments. Video roulette and live roulette and live blackjack and craps in all types of slots

I seem to never experience the excitement of winning. I go to Ameristar because it is close to home.

The conference room that we were in was nice. Wish there had been different food options, but I am a picky eater so that's a personal preference thing. I wish the AC had been turned up in the area outside of the room itself, where the bar was.

It says non smoking room but smelled old set smoke. Asked to change the room and instead of changing the room, sent housekeeping to spray odor masking product. Woke up with a headache next morning.

Went for dinner at Asia. Always great food and WONDERFUL service. Sad to see them cutting back on some of the little things we loved the first time we went, but we understand finances all too well. I have to think such a wonderful restaurant might have more customers if it was easier to get away from the horrible cigarette smoke constantly drifting in from the casino. Yuck! I hate it when I feel I need a shower to get the stink out of my hair after a trip to Ameristar Casino.

Ooh a wonderful place to eat, enjoy gambling, a children play place, beautiful jewelry store and most of at its a huge place

The resort was great! I went to a ballroom for a dance, and everything was put together very well and the bartenders were great.

Probably my favorite casino in the St. Louis area. Has any slot machine that you can probably think of. Everyone can find at least something to play here.

Very nice BIG casino and hotel. Super clean. Lots of slot machines to choose from and the employees were all very friendly and helpful.

UPDATE BELOW -

We reserved three rooms, two adjoining. We called the day prior to arrival to confirm and were confirmed a 3p checkin time and two adjoining rooms. We arrived at 330p and were told that we do not have adjoining rooms and our rooms are not ready. Over an hour and a half later and we are still sitting waiting for our rooms to be ready. We have a several young children and forced to hang out in their lobby with all of bags. What is particularly egregious about the room not being ready is the mat their response is that the policy is that they can check you in any time from 4p to 9p. So, apparently it is the normal course of business to check you in at their convenience sometime within their policies check in time. The hospitality and service provided at this hotel are less than I would expect at a motel. For the the level of service which should be provided at this hotel, the service we failed to receive today was unacceptable.

UPDATE - I responded to the hotel directly as requested in the "response from owner" below and my inquiry has never been acknowledged and responded.

Very nice hotel. Clean, comfortable. Great large room. Double sinks in bathroom nice, safe and fridge nice. Staff friendly. Only negative, needed bellhop to bring your luggage to room, I prefer to do it myself. Would return.

The rooms were fantastic, very clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful as well with any problems. It is pretty pricey but worth it. The location is great and having multiple restaurants was another nice perk

Got married here. Spent thousands. Can't get a discount on anniversary room. Other than that, great place.

My friends and I visited the casino. The first employee we encountered in the ID line choose to speak to me instead of directly to my blind friend. As in "Does she have an ID? We don't accept military IDs anymore, does she have a state-issued ID?" Hey guy, she's blind, not deaf! Luckily, no other employees were so rude and we enjoyed the rest of our time inside the casino.
