We were treated very poorly by the manager, Jennifer Weingartz, at the Monroe Holiday Inn Express. We inquired about a pet, a bird, staying in our room while our family went to a graduation party. We were told the bird could not stay. When our son arrived with the bird we told him the bird could not stay while we were at the party. They came into our room-with the bird, freshen up and left- with the bird. A total of about 30 minutes. I later received a nasty voicemail from the hotel telling us we needed to vacate the room and leave the premise because we had let the bird be brought into the room. It was 77 degrees out, my son and his finance had driven several hours and wanted to freshen up before heading to the party, they could not leave the bird in the car, it would have died. I went to the hotel to try to reason with the assistant manager and she was rude and adamant that I get off the property, my room key had been deactivated. I asked to speak to the manage and was told she was gone for the day. I was allowed into the room to get my belongings. We had several extended family members staying at the hotel for the graduation and were very disappointed in being forced- like we were criminals- to vacate the property. I would not recommend this hotel. It is new and looks nice from the outside, but was cheaply built and you can hear through the walls. Between poor construction and poor management it is not a good place to stay.
