I've seen about half a dozen shows here and counting. They're an amazing little theater and I have never once walked away thinking I could have spent my time and money in a better way. Highly recommended!

Had such an amazing date night with my husband! Their Improv show was fantastic! Tons and tons of laughs! I highly suggest going!!! Any spot in the audience is a great spot. There's also a consession stand. We will definitely be going back!
My son and I love the kids camps and the fall / spring drama classes. So happy the program exist for my son to participate in. It has done wonders for his self confidence. Thank you American Stage for being so awesome and all the hard work you put into running your children drama classes and camps. Looking forward to this summer camps.
Just a delightful event! Great performances. I felt so fortunate to attend the opening of the play, "Christmas at Pemberley," a lively sequel to Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice."
First time we've been there, and was totally thrilled with the experience. Small theater (only 182 seats), very cozy. The play was great and the atmosphere of the theatre was perfect. I'll definitely be going back again.
Highly recommended. Professional theatre at a very reasonable price. They also offer a variety of educational programs. They belive the arts should be accessible by everyone and gear their programs to ensure that happens. We've been season ticket holders for more than 10 years.
I saw "Vietgone" which is premiering here. It captures the essence of the Vietnamese immigrant experience from those who lived through it. It's raw, funny and poignant. The theater itself is an intimate venue with great acoustics.
My husband and I have been members for almost 20 years. In that time we ve seen many performances both indoor and theatre in the park at Demens Landing. Our favorite outdoor play was a spoof of Shakespear s Comedy of Errors titled a Bombity of Errors. It was performed as a musical with actors playing multiple characters. In one scene one of the actors didn t have time to change costumes and came out wearing a wig and men s pants. It was hilarious! There have been many other plays I could list but that would require a book. In today s world, it s ever so important to support local live theater so support American Stage. It s a good investment and a treasure.
American Stage Theatre provides one of the best live performances that you can experience, in a small but elegant facility. It is one of St. Petersburg's jewels. Thank you, Raymond James, for being so generous in your support.
Imtimate theater with quality productions. Good viewing from all seating. Park a block away in City garage on 2nd Street and walk down alley, convenient and only a couple bucks. This is the set from Bad Jews, an excellent, thought provoking play, tremendous acting. Highly recommend.
I went here to see the stage play Informed Consent and thought the acting was well done but that the play lacked a little depth in some areas. It's a small intimate stage which I love.
I've been looking for a community theater ever since my freshman year and now I'm a Senior, and I finally found one! American Stage is awesome their performances and their programs for high schoolers are fantastic! I love it here!
I love this theater located in Downtown Saint Pete. The play was amazing and empowering, fantastic acting , comfortable seats , and a small cafe that serves coffee and cocktail drinks . Definitely coming back
Would have been 5 stars, but they allow patrons to bring refreshments and snacks to their seats. I had to listen to a man slugging an iced drink about 10 times and a woman attacking a bag of pretzels ( or something ) that wouldn't yield to her attempt to open it. Very distracting when trying to follow the dialogue. Why ? Who is managing this venue ?
Caught the last play in the 10 play August Wilson cycle in Black life in the US over a century. Were season ticket holders. The people play with passion and dedication. Plus the outdoor play is fantastic (except when Mother Nature brews up a storm!). Become a season ticket holder, support culture here in Tampa Bay.
Very good performances. Actors are second to none. Parking is a royal pain. Wish USF St Petersburg would do something to share parking considering the American Stage allows students to attend shows for free you would think there would be some reciprocity
We attend a play at the American Stage every year and always enjoy the experience. It's a small theater with every seat being a good seat. I would recommend it for a nice evening out and a great experience.
Loved the show, and the theater. There really are NO bad seats in this theater. Not too big or too small. Convenient parking on weekends is free on the surrounding streets. We'll definitely be coming for another show soon.
Just finished watching the people downstairs. This was my first time in the theater and it was great. The staff is very friendly and the theater is very quaint. I also have to add that the play was wonderful!! It has a lot of good humor. We had a pleasant surprise by having the play writer there.
We saw The Royale. It was a well executed delivery of a powerful play. The theater does not have a bad seat. They present plays that make you think. It was a good experience.
We are first time season ticket holders at American Stage. This was a gift we promised each other after we retired. Each show this season was provocative and entertaining. The intimacy of the space provides us true engagement with the action on the stage. The ensemble varies with the themes and they do not disappoint. This years theme In Search of America is timely as we all seek to discover who we are.
Intimacy of the theater was amazing. We saw long days journey into night and although we enjoy the theater we are not enthusiasts by any means and were concerned about the length but it kept our full attention from the amazing acting for all 3 hrs!
A wonderful professional theatre company creating excellent productions in a small black box theatre space. Because of its intimate size, every show has an immersive quality, as it is impossible not to be drawn in when you're *that* close to the stage (or even *on* the stage, as there was actually on-stage seating during American Stage's production of "A Marvelous Party." FUN!). This theatre offers a wide range of selections, covering (updated) classics, contemporary plays, drama, comedy, and everything in between, and let's not forget the annual "American Stage in the Park" musical at Demens Landing. There is also a lobby cabaret program with improv, story-telling, and music performances, that deserve to be checked out, along with educational programs for aspiring thespians of all ages.
American Stage has been around since the 1970s, and once you attend one of their performances, you'll understand why this has been a Tampa Bay favorite for so long.
The oldest non-profit Theatre Company in the Tampa area. Top notch performances, great facilities, and even better volunteers. Get some friend together, have dinner downtown, enjoy the theatre, and then experience St. Pete's nightlife after the show... a perfect evening.
This is my favorite of all the theatre companies in the area. The talent is top notch in every category, and the theatre itself is delightful. It's asymmetrical with great views from every seat, due to masterful staging. I always look forward to their productions.
