This is not 176 S Robert St. I accidentally went here for My First Aid, CPR, AED training because I approached from the north and it was the first building I saw that said Red Cross on it. 176 is the next building south across the parking lot.
First time donor. It was an okay experience overall. The staff were very kind and attentive.
That being said, I have a few concerns. First and foremost was the poor infection control. I never once saw any staff wash their hands, gloves were kept on scrub pockets where they could become contaminated before use, supplies were laid on the chairs/beds patients sit on which were not cleaned between patients, etc. A phlebotomist noticed blood on my finger from holding the gauze after my donation was done and did not make sure I washed it off my hands before going to the food area. (Don t worry, I didn t contaminate anyone s food, but I worry some would ve wiped the blood off and thought nothing of it).
The appointment also took nearly twice as long as it was supposed to.
Altogether not a terrible experience, but I won t be returning to this location unless the infection control is vastly improved.
I deliver stat packages to area hospitals and the staff at the lab here at the Red Cross are really nice and friendly they really know what they're doing and the work they do is really important sometimes it's life or death
Very kind nurse caring for me. Got me in and out as quickly as they could, made sure I was comfortable and I was able to watch "A River Runs Through It". One star lost for poor movie choices ;) I didnt know I could bring my own.
The Red Cross staff was great but will never go back unless they improve the infection control. Had to use Ipads for that were never wiped down. Had temp taken twice orally so had to pull down my mask each time. Had to remind check in person to put on his mask. Rapid Pass did not work because no cellular service in the building or their batteries were depleted.
