First time donor. It was an okay experience overall. The staff were very kind and attentive.
That being said, I have a few concerns. First and foremost was the poor infection control. I never once saw any staff wash their hands, gloves were kept on scrub pockets where they could become contaminated before use, supplies were laid on the chairs/beds patients sit on which were not cleaned between patients, etc. A phlebotomist noticed blood on my finger from holding the gauze after my donation was done and did not make sure I washed it off my hands before going to the food area. (Don t worry, I didn t contaminate anyone s food, but I worry some would ve wiped the blood off and thought nothing of it).
The appointment also took nearly twice as long as it was supposed to.
Altogether not a terrible experience, but I won t be returning to this location unless the infection control is vastly improved.
